I received constant database errors since about 12 AM last night.

I understand Melfice did as well.

I also have been experiencing such errors. Though they seem to have been solved. I was receiving them at around 8 AM this morning.

Between roughly 15:00 hours GMT+1 and 15:20 hours GMT+1, I indeed experienced problems accessing the forums.

I did as well, but it's back up now. Fixed?

Aside from a bunch of us gang-banging a thread with "lol I saw it 2" posts [not knocking you folks], what kind of information can we supply, if any, that would be of use/help when these things happen? To give the thread a bit of a purpose aside from pointing out that it happened.*

I expect not much, from us as clients, but I am curious in case it happens again (i.e. should I write down exact times, sshot the error screen [looked to be the standard vb database message to me], etc.).

* also, is it even possible for a database error to not affect the whole community (if not, as long as someone records that it happened the rest of us are being redundant)? By the by, this one seemed to last for a few hours (I think I played a couple of games of DotA between checking).

A database error like that is definately server-side, and would apply to anyone who tried to access it. If it had been on the user's end, they'd get the standard "server not found" or maybe even just a blank page, as I did when I had a weird DNS fluke that blocked many of the sites in the server block.

Best we can do is what synk did, go find something else to do while it is down.

Maybe a software update is in order? vBulletin is up to 3.7.6 and 3.8.2 right now.

It happened again today. I had it between about 9am-3pm (GMT+1) both today and yesterday. It was the same kind of timeframe both days which was wierd.

It happened today as well for me when I was up at around 5:30am PST (GM-8). Same general database error.

It went from about half past midnight EDT (GMT-5) through at least 9:15 am. I am not sure if that's helpful, but there it is.

The fact that it seems to be on it's own little schedule gives me the impression that maybe they're doing something with the forums?

SQL could be suffering as well, might need database maintenance, might be server load issues...there could be a lot happening as a result of the main page update that took a couple of weeks to manifest.

Perhaps related, perhaps nbot, but the banner ads currently seem to be non-functional.
