I would like to ask you guys to give me a hand with this new "animation" thing i'm trying here. Video Editing is a minor hobby of mine and i like to try new stuff. Even asked mauve for help (which was great, thanks!).
But there was a problem and i lost my backup HDD and my monitor, and now i'm stuck on a 800x600 resolution which sucks if you want to do video or image editing (some programs won't even work on that resolution...)
The animation i'm trying to make is a "mock" on my friends and my online RPG group, and i want to try some Trace animation for that.
Basicly, trace animation is a frame-by-frame style of animation where i draw each frame i want, over some existing image on a lower layer, as itrace over, i can change the image any way i want. I can do this with Flash, and it works fine...
The thing is... i need the animation i want to trace over to be in GIF format, so Flahs can read it frame by frame. And i need a lot of these so i can make something good... of course i'm not looking for professional quality, this is all in good fun... crappy animation is fine enough, so i don't need all the frames. It can be choppy, as long it has it's flow.
I've tried making these GIFs myself, but i end up with one of 2 things: 1- an 80mb+ Gif file of which i can only use some parts... or 2- a TON of smaller gifs that will take so much time to make that it will probably drain the fun out of thsi little exercise...
What i would like to ask, for those who can help out here... are GIFs. Make them yourselves or just point me to where i can find them. The images i'm looking for are withing these Guidelines:
1- Few characters in screen or simple motions
2- Short cycles. Nothing much more than a couple of seconds
3- Simple backgrounds (that don't conflict with the characters. Makes the tracing easier)
4- They can be small in size (even Forum-Avatar sizes are ok) and low color or even B/W.
5- Has to be anime-style
This will all play out without voices in trailer/opening sequence style. So, GIFs originated from anime Openings would suit this just fine... but any sort of "stock footage" stuff would be fantastic
For reference... i would be REALLY happy if i could produce something like Bleach's new OP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz_uxSR31zs).
If this works out, then, i plan on expand on that and use this technique to produce bigger and more elaborate animations, combined together with my really crappy art style.
Just so this Thread won't get overloaded, you can just send me links to the images you find around, or send them to me via e-mail!
