Well obviously Dave has the Derringer, but that's just half of a sword. Drac seemed to be implying they had a bunch of stuff they could alchemize with the Troll stuff, but they don't really have anything since all their stuff is on their corpses.

It's not that I want John to be mad at Vriska, because that just isn't who he is, but I don't want his incredibly forgiving nature to translate into romantic interest for the first woman aggressive enough to demand it from him.

Like what you're insinuating is that the first girl who's like "John, I want you to love me" will be loved by John because gee whiz, he's just such a nice guy he wouldn't dare refuse anyone who asked. I want John to be his forgiving, lovable, adorkable self, but I don't want him to forget about standards, or to forget that forgiving Vriska for having been an abusive, belligerent, unlikable ass should not translate into him harboring romantic feelings for someone who was an abusive, belligerent, unlikable ass.

Mind you, this is me obsessing over one very minor blemish in what has otherwise been a rather extraordinary product.
Conversely, while I feel that this story has had several blemishes, I don't believe that Vriska is one of them. Perhaps she could have benefited from an earlier introduction and better buildup to her overall role in the story, but sometimes the on-the-fly writing style employed in the narrative results in unfortunate missteps like that.

Of course, I actually do believe that her role as an active major participant in the story is over. She'll still make appearances and, if the foreshadowing with Jake is any indication, at least some involvement and interraction with the characters via the dream bubbles, but there's been nothing to suggest that she's coming back from the dead and I think that's fitting.

Act 5 was the rise and fall of Vriska. That was basically the whole deal there, and she has nothing left to do as part of her personal story. The same goes for Aradia and it's why she's staying behind at the Green Sun, just as Gamzee is probably not going to survive the three year voyage to the new session. They are act 5 characters, and it's where their stories began and ended.

Meanwhile, nearly every player character introduced before act 5 is continuing on, with the only exception of Tavros, who was also the only pre-act 5 character to have no impact on the actual plot during that period.

So I guess POS and I will both have to reserve judgment until Andrew finally finishes his story.

Snake, I think you're overreacting just a tiny bit. Also, if you're okay with their relationship being cut short it's not that you're okay with their relationship, it's that you're okay with Vriska's death, y'know.

I'd say pretty much any troll BUT Vriska would be able to come back to life, but her god-tier death seemed more permanent. Let's not forget that Terezi probably looked ahead far enough to know the timeline caused by her attack would cause Vriska's death to be final or at least keep being a thing for a while.

Also, I totally believe my earlier theory regarding Andrew deliberately stretching out Act Six (and, back in the day, even Act Five) in order to keep his income flowing has been validated. Act Six was supposed to be far shorter than it will be, especially now that he's dividing Act Six up into sub-parts that will inevitably each become longer than the preceding sub-part and now that we don't even know whether the story will actually wrap up in 2012. I'm not saying I blame him for loving money and loving how Homestuck's continuation will give him more money but I wish he was a bit more honest about it from the get-go.

EDIT: Like seriously, Act Five and Act Six both should have been divided up into multiple Acts, and the only reason why Andrew is maintaining the seven-act structure is because he wrote himself into a corner by promising everyone a seven-act structure and it would be exceptionally dickish for him to suddenly go "Nope, there will actually be twelve Acts!" even though that's precisely what he should have done from a long-term narrative perspective, because once Homestuck is actually finished new readers are going to have a bitch of a time navigating through the Act Five and Act Six archives because they will be unapproachable in their monstrous girth.

I really don't think money is an issue for Hussie. He has, like, two or three patents for color programs used in hospitals to help track cancer. If he's making a lot of money through MSPA, then a lot of it would be to keep the site up; I can't imagine that a website which hosts so many long flashes would be cheap to keep alive. I think the costs is in... the several hundreds? More? It's a lot.

I think Act 6 being longer than planned is a story decision in response to how Act 5 played out, not a financial one. Frankly I used to be worried that Act 6 would be too short, and hearing that it might be almost as long as Act 5 is a relief since a lot of what felt unresolved in Act 5 could be resolved in Act 6 finally.

I don't know about the money issue. You'd think any site with this many viewers and that many ads and a booming merchandise sector on top couldn't help making money, but the thing is bandwidth. Maybe someone with some experience in web hosting can better put this in perspective, but from what I've heard it seems like Homestuck has become by far the most read webcomic in Internet history, with unique viewers per day that dwarfs even Penny Arcade. And with so many large files being downloaded, I imagine the scale of bandwidth the site uses is completely unprecedented in its field, and whatever hosting Hussie is using is being constantly pushed to the limit, maybe forced to redesign their whole business model to accommodate this creature that they have no frame of reference for judging how to treat it; it's somewhere between what's normal for a webcomic and what's normal for Youtube. So I think it would be hard even for the host to guess what it's going to cost to run the site on any given day.

That's got to be pretty stressful when you're paying the bill. Not that Hussie is showing any signs of giving up or selling out. I mean given the freestyling form of storytelling in the comic, it would be easy to do anything that would be likely to keep the readership up. (More Vriska! Makeouts! And hey why not a five year time skip instead of three *NUDGE NUDGE* and at least stop telling us about this yet another group of four characters we don't care about geez there's a reason Hollywood movies try to introduce all characters within the first 30 or 45 minutes you know.) So that's got to be something.

It's probably more a Fame thing than a Money thing for him anyway, at least insofar as any author and artist naturally would enjoy others appreciating the work he's written and drawn and would want those individuals to continue appreciating his work for as long a duration as possible.

The Prospitians seemed pretty convinced, and Jack wanted to make it more obvious that he was getting his kid murders on by showing Jane his stabs. CD probably can kill Jake properly, considering his equally ridiculous but successful attempt on Jake's analogue with shaving cream.

Then again the Prospitians may just be idiots, thinking about the ones in Seer: Descend.


This also leads me to believe that DD will throat slit Bro and HB will... punch Mom or... eat her head... on second thoughts, forget this idea.
