Nah what's most likely is that the ectobiology happens exactly the same way as it did in the pre-scratch session, i.e. Jake, Jane, Ro, and Di were all cloned from themselves, and then the slime was mixed together to create John, Jade, Rose, and Dave. The only difference is that John, Jade, Rose, and Dave were sent further into the past, and Jake, Jane, Ro, and Di were sent to the year 199X (don't remember the exact date/too lazy to maths).

So like, Jake and Jane isn't incestual or anything like a lot of people commenting on the skaia.net image board seem to believe.

Or we can use the sane and logical reason, which is in one of the hundreds of doomed timelines that one of the hundreds of Aradiabots came from, there is a Karkat who managed to go God-tier and subsequently suffered a Heroic (or Just, but that doesn't seem like something that would happen to Karkat) death.

Like I'm pretty sure imagining/dreaming things up in dream bubbles only applies to objects like clothes (though in the case of clothes it's something that the dreamer has worn before, at least from what we've seen) and scenery. When there's another physical person present it is (in all the cases we have seen) another dreamer.

The biggest piece of evidence I can think of for it being a dead doomed timeline Karkat is that him hooking up with Nepeta would sort of mirror what happened with dead doomed timeline John. At the very least, doomed John's appearance showed us that doomed timeline characters make it to the afterlife just fine, and are fully capable of interacting with characters from different timelines.

There is no incest between any of the Alpha Kids. Jane, Jake, Dirk, and Roxy are all separate paradox clones, created solely from their own ecto-biological sludge. They are each born from themselves.

It is only the Beta Kids who are related, since Jane + Jake sludge gives us John and Jade, and Dirk + Roxy sludge gives us Rose and Dave.

If it weren't for Poppop Crocker's presence in Jane's house I would actually have a decent theory on why Alpha Rose and Dave haven't been present/pronounced dead... None of the session's original players stuck around for the Scratch, they escaped via not being present in the universe (stuck in the Green Sun and on a ship in an alternate reality)... so they couldn't take up their places in the Alpha timeline because they weren't there...

Here's how I view the Scratch, and it seems to be working just fine so far:

Once the Scratch finally activated, everything inside our universe (and the session tied to that universe) started to rewind. As in literally move backwards in time. Now this is where things get wonky. The rewind includes the kids escaping from the universe, so during the rewind there are essentially two instances of the kids; those being rewound in the universe because of the Scratch, and those outside of the universe who escaped the temporal effects.

The universe stops its rewind when it reaches the beginning, or at least a point very near to the beginning, and starts over from scratch (HAHAHA IT'S A PUN). The only difference, from what we can gather from the two scratches we've seen, is that when the ectobiology happens in the session, the temporal destinations of the kids and the guardians/ancestors are reversed. Every other difference between scratched sessions seems to be a direct result of that one simple switch.

Basically the key part here is that the kids did escape their session and avoid the scratch. But also at the same time, once the scratch activated, their escape was rewound and made null and void, at least in the eyes of the universe.

1: Infuriated that Dirk is gay for openly homophobic reasons;
2: Infuriated that Dirk is gay, and desperately trying to justify their fury for narrative reasons that have 'nothing to do' with homophobia. "Dirk has more chemistry with Roxy than with Jake, this is just a move to impress gay readers." OR "This lowers my opinion of Dirk because as a 'cool guy', I preferred thinking he'd be too detached to develop any romantic feelings that would force him into a more submissive role." OR "It's not like sexual orientation has ever mattered with the kids before, why introduce this now?" (...Because these kids are three years older, maybe?)
3: Infuriated that Dirk being gay means that Bro is also gay (and therefore searching for excuses as to why environmental factors may lead two men with identical genetic structures to different sexual orientations, because for some reason Bro must have had a girlfriend or some shit; no one THAT badass could possibly be gay);
4: Hopeful that Dirk is merely bi and really prefers women so he'll someday settle down with their favorite ship candidate;
5: Hopeful that Dirk is trolling Roxy here and that he really prefers women so he'll settle down with Roxy / Jane / etc.

EDIT: Whelp guys according to MSPA "experts" I've been totally wrong all along! The argument I've heard that destroyed my arguments was simple! Because gays in fact still do exist in society today, there can be no "gay gene" (because Darwinian theory implies if there were one, everyone hatin' on gays would have killed them all off by now!) Therefore, because there is no "gay gene," homosexuality is not genetic! This means that homosexuality is determined merely by complex environmental factors and can be altered. Wait, what? Like yeah sure, Bro was almost definitely gay too - even though he was basically ambiguous, that's a statement we can make pretty confidently just based on the imagery associated with both Bro and Dirk. However, there may or may not be any genetic involvement at all, and we're definitely not in a place research-wise to start saying that their sexuality follows from their genetic structure. In fact, as I recall, there've been studies done on twins that suggest exactly the opposite. That doesn't mean there definitely isn't genetic involvement, but it's definitely not as simple as saying that someone can just be genetically homosexual.

It pretty much is environmental factors. But I don't think you understand what that means. Environmental factors covers a whole shit load of things- including development in the womb an dmost importantly the first few years of life. It is also pretty random, brain connections with the same inputs can develop in different ways.
Environmental factors also influence how your genes unfold and interact. Saying something happens genetically is generlaly pretty meaningless. Genes and environment interact massively, even if you had say an "intelligence gene" it wouldn't increase you intelligence unless it was present with the correct other genes, they all unfolded in the right way and you had th ecorrect stimullus to get it working properly. And there isn't such a thing.
But what we mean when we say there is no "gay gene" is that there is no gene that can be traced to it, identical twins who have the same genes can be both gay and straight which pretty much kiboshes that theory.
Sexuality is likely determined by a myriad of factors that control the massive forming of neuronal connections in babies and childrens in the first few years after birth. This is when they form the differences between themselves and others and form connections between specific identities of people and how they relate to not themselves- the small and big Other as it were. This is basically all environmental.
Nobody has found a gene for sexuality and it wouldn't make sense as something controlled by a gene. Genes code for actual physical change which sexuality is not. Sexuality is a complex relationship between yoruself and others which occurs in the dense mass of connections in the brain. If sexuality was coded for by genes we would be able to see physical differences between homosexuals and heterosexuals either in ourself or in animals that have homsexual pairs- which we never have. If sexuality was coded for by genes it would be fairly binary, either you are heterosexual or homosexual with the odd deviant due to mutations but this does not at all describe human sexuality. If homosexuality was genetic it would be traceable in lineages and hereditary. It's not, it occurs pretty much at random (once you account for society eand family pressures which would trend a child gay or straight).
And if it was genetic how would that work? One (or maybe a cluster ) of genes controlling sexuality? I don't understand how this would work physically. Sexual arousal uses the same pathways in heterosexual people as homosexual people. It releases the same trasnmitters in the same part of the brain. And the triggers are external stimulae, not internal stimulae, so that can't be the explanation. In fact the entire point of the development process of a young baby is to adapt its brain (which can respond to internal stimulae fine) to respond to external stimulae- EXACTLY the differene between the two orientations is their reaction to external stimulae.
Unless you can provide mechanistically how this works, and how your genes are going to rewrite the entire sexual reproduction pathway of the brain without leaving a crippled mess it baffles me how this can be genetic.

There are a lot of possible factors, and I really have no desire to get involved in a big thing about it except to say that actual genetic structure on the individual is probably not a major one. Environmental factors would likely be relegated to the first few years of life - the critical period (this is where I would put my money on a big part of the influence being). Fetal development and hormones are probably involved as well (there's definitely people who will say this is a big factor for the transgendered). The exact reasons probably differ from person to person as well - one thing we can say with certainty is that there's not just some binary switch that determines you as either one or the other. That kind of thing doesn't come close to accounting for the range of sexual orientation. I think this is the problem with a lot of the popular thought regarding homosexuality, because people tend to look at it as being one way or another when we know that's really not true. Sexuality isn't something where a light gets turned on and bam, you're a sexual creature - it develops. Even if you are absolutely straight or 100% gay, your sexuality still evolves - get someone who's sixty (and open minded) talking about sex, and start asking them how it was different when they were eighteen.

It's overly simplistic to approach sexual orientation as if it's just something that gets stuck to you at some arbitrary point. It's also pretty arbitrary to define sexual orientation based purely on whether someone prefers men or women. Neither sex or gender is binary, and the two can be completely different things, so how can you possibly assign meaningful sexual definitions to people based purely on whether they fuck "men" or "women?" There are probably various factors acting on your sexuality throughout your entire life. Just like everything else.

And it's not like you just are or become of one particular sexuality. You've got a good chunk of years to live before the matter comes up at all. There are early periods and events (some of which I mentioned) that probably have a very big influence on where you'll end up in a broad sense, but they don't just hardcode a sexual identity into you. Sexual identity is like everything else - you build it. And that's not calling it a "choice," because doing that would have the same problems I've already discussed. It's just not as easy to label as popular culture wants it to be.

Sexual identity develops over time. We already know something that develops over time at pretty much exactly the same rate as sexual identity (typical)- neuronal brain connections which are built largely in childhood and then during adulesoence both grow and prune strongly to make your final person. As these develop so does your sexual identity. He was the Heir of Void, right? Going off John and the latest info dump, seems like Heir is an active class. Dunno if there was anything super important or relevant he could have done with active Void powers. Especially since he probably didn't have full control over them (like John before he went god-tier). Because if he did, he probably could have done the Voidy thing to hide them from Jack. Unless he was doing it already without being entirely aware, thus keeping Jack from tracking them down with his super awesome sense of smell. But if he had full access to his powers I doubt even Vriska's fairy-trail would allow Jack to find them.

It doesn't have to be direct application of his powers. The roles are part of who they are to the extent that it becomes difficult to tell how much of who they are is because of the role and how much of the role is because of who they are. Like I said, making an empty vessel for Aradia could be seen as Equius playing into his role. Besides which, we don't actually know if "heir" qualifies as an active role - rogue certainly isn't obviously one or the other on the basis of its name alone. We don't even totally know what it means to have an active or passive role; UU's description leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Anyway, bottom line is that your role isn't just a powerset. I'm not saying Equius shot void lasers at someone. I'm saying something I've been thinking ever since we found out that his ancestor was a black spot in Doc Scratch's omniscience (which I think probably has more to do with Equius himself than Equius' ancestor): That Equius might have done something with far reaching consequences that no one knows about due to the nature of his role being in absence. Hell, it could even be that Equius will somehow fulfill his role by being absent due to his death.

They're both "one who inherits", and Heir, as shown by John, is pretty explicitly a self-empowering class.

I agree with these. Thief-/Rogue+ and Heir-/Prince+ (Eridan was corrupted to destroy Hope, but he destroyed the Hope of others; normally he should grant Hope to others, like a Prince grants boons).

I'd think Page-/Knight+ (They're both warriors who use their element as a weapon; Knights defend others).

Also, Witch-/Sylph+ (When asked, Kanaya said that a Sylph was like a witch "But More Magical").

Basically, a Mage is able to actively channel raw magical power into attacks whereas a Seer has a more in-depth understanding of how such magical powers work, allowing her to use them to guide and strengthen her team.

Also, I just got back from Ohayocon and Homestuck has seriously blown up. There was a small handful of Homestuck cosplayers last year, but this year there was well over a hundred at least. All right, since my 3DS is overall quite garbage for actual picture taking, I'm going to just go ahead and post somebody else's better ones (http://imgur.com/a/qTtem#2) to illustrate just how stupidly huge this shit has gotten. Apparently most people's rough estimates put the Homestuck crowd at over 200, compared to the dozen or so last year. They ended up moving the panel back an hour to get a larger room, which ended up conflicting perfectly with the Street Fighter IV tournament I had signed up for as it had ended up getting started five hours late because they decided to do Marvel 3 first instead, thinking it would "go faster." It didn't.

And to be perfectly honest, by 10:30pm on Saturday, I was sick to death of Homestuck, so Street Fighter won out.
