I had assumed the felt were carapace from Derse or Prosperit that were converted into thugs for Doc Scratch's gang (and thus to serve Lord English). However, I cannot think of anything that specifically says this may be the case, so it's speculation. The fact that they appear green and not black or white, like Snowman who is indeed the Black Queen from the troll's session, makes me wonder if they are indeed from the game session but from another place, like perhaps the alluded Green Moon.

We don't know how the original game was created, but Sollux created Sgrub based on technology found in a Frog Temple/ruins while Sburb seems to have been a product of Skaia Labs. More to the point, however, it seems that the game is created as part of each universe upon the latter's creation in a previous game session - e.g. Skaia Labs was created as part of the kids' universe during the trolls' session [shown in that one episode with all the trolls hangin' out in front of the Sgrub logo with a door, about to claim their reward -- the new universe (the kids') for them to live in as their world was destroyed], and thus has the same kind of logos and things as their game client and the technology found in the labs in their Veil. Also perhaps worth a read/skim (http://www.formspring.me/andrewhussie/q/1158290610).

Also perhaps related is the code for Lord English's appearance, a mere formality due to time shenanigans.

As Synk said, Sollux adapted Sgrub from the code in the frog temple.

I'm pretty sure it was actually Grandpa Harley who discovered the code in the Frog Temple on the island, and he then had Rose's Mother adapt the game from that.

And in regards to the origins of the game, I don't really think it matters how it manifested. But it was inevitable that it would manifest. Its sole purpose is really to be an instrument of self-replication for a universe. The symbols are important, why it presents itself the way it does, but I think the 'creator', the source, doesn't have much of an impact. Whoever they are, they're just instruments of fate. Fullfilling the inevitable. Though if we believe Aradia, everyone is. I'm not sure how accurate Aradia's attitude of '0f c0urse it ribbit is inevitable 0_0" is gonna be.

So yeah, I think if we're comparing Vriska and Nannasprite, Nanna comes out several million miles ahead, soley by virtue of not being Vriska.

As for Aradia's comments, she most likely meant that their universes were influencing each other rather than creating each other, as the trolls' progress through the mission was heavily guided by Rose's GameFAQs updates, which lead to them taking actions that caused those very updates to happen in the first place, as well as countless other consequences of a massively convoluted stable time loop.

Aside from the matter of the scratch, the thing about precog in time travel stories is that you rarely get all the details, and some of those are pretty important. Take Legacy of Kain: Defiance, for example. Moebius and the Elder God were exactly right: Raziel DID rip out Kain's heart and enter the Reaver. Obviously that must have been a win for them, right?

Or it could be that ripping out Kain's heart only killed him temporarily and also removed his main weakness, and Raziel entering the Reaver turned it into an unstoppable god-slayer.

Oh, definitely. I think Aradia has access to more information at once (she basically seemed to know exactly how to proceed from from the get-go), but I'm sure it has the same flaws as Rose's.

The Game's Origins: I suppose I am just going with the idea that the game is an inherent part of each universe created, manifested in a way that "makes sense" for that universe -- and then either expanded upon by its denizens or the like (e.g. Sollux, Skaia Labs) and perhaps guided in development by the guardians.

Seeing the Future: Aradia's understanding of what's going on seems above and beyond everyone else's. Jade got to see glimpses in Prosperit clouds but didn't exactly know how it all pieced together. Rose (and really any Derse dreamer that's cared to listen) has the dark whisperings to go from, but we don't have any confirmation yet as to how accurate or detailed they have been with their information. Aradia has also heard these, but then her time shenanigans and collection of herself [prior to the scratch and destruction] in bot form has probably further enabled her to maintain a stronger grasp of what's all going down. I'm willing to bet that being dead has either biased her OR made things more clear, however -- that remains to be seen. Regardless, I also agree that she, like everyone else, has no post-scratch knowledge. Anyone's predictions or descriptions of the future are only going to be so good until that point, unless new information is revealed or some more Wacky Plot Shit happens.

Avatars: Ha, the folks who made these images did it first, then <insert name of any forum, including MSPA's own forum, that has a thread for Homestuck> started ripping avatars from it. I'm glad we don't have people doubling up on all the characters, but it's not like any of us can claim originality.

Role playing: I normally am not a fan, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.



Also, has Nanna completely drained John's Prankster's Gambit? We have yet to see anything come of this -- I think Rose already lost most/all of hers, and there was a similar feature for Kanaya/Rose related to snark [though that was more or less "restored" to a balance] -- but perhaps it is necessary for John? I think that there's something outside of the game. It's a universal mechanism, but there's something supporting it. At the very least, something connecting the kids' session with the trolls' session. And I think whatever's outside, they'll encounter it. I don't think Rose alone will break it, I doubt she's that powerful yet. But yeah, I agree. There's certain rules to the Game. The Kids are breaking them, Rose certainly is. We'll see what the results are.
