Basically it is a real time communication client. You set up Waves like an email, and people will reply in real time, meaning you can actually see every keystroke. The spell check in is the most amazing I've seen, as it takes into context what was said in the sentence. It is open source, so anyone can make stuff for it, such as in Firefox. Some examples are maps, video embeds, photo albums, editing documents at the same time as other people, all in real time. My favorite was a real time translator. Also, you can intergrate it into web pages, like twitter or blogs, and it will update in real time. Finally, it works with with mobiles in real time.
