So, I've just barely started watching Eureka Seven, and holy shit this show is amazing. I'm only on episode 24 and I already consider it one of my favorite shows. I have to say, Ray and Charles are probably two of my favorite anime characters of all time. Anemone is pretty rad, too.

You've made me happy, just like listening to the sound track made me happy on my commute today.

Wow.

I just finished episode 26. This is the first time a show has ever made me cry for reasons other than being fucking sad.

I am in awe.

Also, 2nd Season OP >>>>>>>>>>>>> 3rd Season OP

And now they just killed Ray and Charles. This show is making me cry too much.

Yeah, I never really understood what the hell was going on. It was completely awesome till the end where I was just stuck with WTF. Like, a planet in the planet? And there's still sunlight?! I'm still so confused! I'll have to rewatch it sometime to see if it's still as crazy as I remember. lol

But, definitely an awesome awesome series. My fave character has to be Dominic. He's such a sweetie!

I've seen a bit of this, clips and what not but was never sure If I'd enjoy it.

Is there a anime you could say this is similar to?

Ummmm... Think Evangelion meets FLCL meets Diebuster, but a lot more grounded than FLCL and Diebuster.

That is quiet an interesting combination. Sounds like its a little more of a understanding Memory the Evangelion though. I may have to actually check it out though.

What I said doesn't really explain Eureka Seven very well though. Except for some minor similarities to other shows, I've never really seen a show like it. It's pretty amazing. I cry a lot.

Yea that sucked :(

I really liked Eureka 7 as a comic, but Renten's inner monologues were pretty boring 3/4 of the way through. As he matured they got significantly better but that wasn't until the last 25% of it.

Also I love giant robots O_O

I am in awe.I know exactly what episode you're talking about. I remember, the first time I saw that episode was streaming on youtube in the basement of my college commons (youtube because I hadn't discovered torrents yet. Eureka Seven made me learn about torrents). The audio was borked, so I was just reading the subtitles. It was still awesome. The viewerfuck it, I really felt for Renton and Eureka right then.

Watching it again with the audio made it even sweeter. Also, 2nd Season OP >>>>>>>>>>>>> 3rd Season OPTrue, but the third opening has grown on me over the years.

Edit:killed Ray and Charles. This show is making me cry too much. Yea that sucked :(

Also I love giant robots O_OI haven't read the comic because the ending is different and I don't want my "heart-laser moon graffiti love conquers all" ending tarnished by a generic downer ending.

Also, don't drop the spoiler tags when you quote spoilers, okay, Enkidu?

[not spoiler]White Tiger No.24 > awesome.[/not spoiler]

Er, it occurs to me that maybe we should have some sort of serious discussion on the show or something. We have to prove that this show is the best and that everything else is terrible, not by comparison, but by nature. I mean, otherwise this thread is just whimsical fun, and we can't have that on the internet.

There are giant robots on flying surfboards.... I've never actually watched it and that makes me want to see it enough...

I'll try!

What really makes this show is the characters. I just barely started episode 32, and so far the vast majority of the episodes have been nothing but characterization, with very little 'plot'. Even the plot episodes do a whole lot of characterization. The show also has a large cast of characters, and you care about all of them. They all stick with you. You aren't going to forget Moondoggie just because he hasn't been in an episode for a while, because they characterized him so well in one episode.

One of the things I really like is how... active... the characters emotions are. A character can go from being depressed as hell, to really happy, to embarrassed, to depressed again, and none of it will feel forced or poorly done.

The plot gives me a definite Evangelion feel, but at the same time there is a vast difference on the focus and the pacing, and I have to say that Eureka Seven comes out on top.

One thing I always consider a major selling point to anime is how it makes you feel. If a show can make me smile like an idiot or cry like a girl, I consider that show better for it. Eureka Seven has not only done both, but it has also made me cry from being so happy. Think about that for a minute. That's impressive.

Just finished episode 33. I was laughing and crying at the same time. AWESOME

I hate to come in and be a dick all over NonCon's belated Eureka 7 party, but I must say I wasn't huge on this show compared to how much everyone loves it. I think if it were good deal shorter than 50 episodes long I would have really enjoyed it, but otherwise I just wasn't too fond of the 40 episodes of dicking around with The Revolutionaries Who Don't Do Anything followed by ten excellent episodes.

I did love the bits with Anemone and Dominic though, and Dewey was awesome.

Just finished. I have no words for how amazing that was. I cried so many times during the last few episodes. Will write a bunch of big long paragraphs detailing just why it was so damnably awesome as soon as I recover.

I'm on episode 30, and man, I dunno, Renton just is really whiny in general. It kinda bugs me.

Don't get me wrong, the show is amazing, I just wish Renton would shut up and let me watch!

One thing I really liked is that (END SPOILERS) it has a very happy ending. Pretty much everyone you've grown attached to survive, Dewey's helpers get to be part of a real family, and Renton and Eureka get to be together. I also was so overjoyed when Anemone and Dominic were able to be together. I was absolutely terrified that Anemone, Dominic, or both of them would die.
