If you turn the contrast way up, you can see smudges where the letters are, but not so's that you can read anything without wishful thinking.

Well, at the very least it clearly says 'Super' in a very similair font. Given it's Nintendo, and that the second line closely resembles it, it's safe to say that it will be the next Mario game.
Speaking of which, does anyone know when Nintendo's doing thier thing today?

Nintendo announcing a Mario product is just baffling. My truest hope is that its New Super Mario Bros 3, but I doubt it'll happen.
So yeah I'm going to miss today, so if anyone has a decent breakdown/synopsis or whatevs of E3 I'd be grateful.
I should have time to watch everything, so I'll try to keep a list of everything I hear announced and whatnot for you.

More than just that I'd like to be sure I can get everything in a list for DNPO including stuff like EA and Eidos and whatnot.

Nintendo announcing a Mario product is just baffling.
Nintendo commissioning Treasure to make Sin and Punishment 2 and bringing it to North America is more baffling. Not only did the first one not come out here until the Virtual Console allowed it, it was one of their worst-selling N64 games in Japan.
This is proof that God exists, dude.
Translation: You should be more excited for S&P2; it's the closest thing we'll get to a Star Fox Wii (but better!).
My truest hope is that its New Super Mario Bros 3, but I doubt it'll happen.
Did Nintendo release New Super Mario Bros. 2 while I was not watching?

I think Mirai's hoping they skip right to 3, as in make it in the style of 3 and ignore 2. Of course NSMB was already pretty 3 ish so personally I'm hoping for one more like World, cause it was the best other than Yoshi's Island.
Actually thinking of it, one in the vein of 2 or whatever it was called in Japan (Arabian Nights or something?) but updated to 2009 DS levels would be pretty cool.
I'm really looking forward to Mario, but S&P2 is gonna be soooo much cooler. I wonder if the Wiimote has enough buttons. And if I have enough fingers.
I damn well better hear "Get Bonus!" in the new game.
Regulus Tera

Aim with pointer.
Move with analog stick.
Slash/Shoot with B.
Left Roll with Z.
Right Roll with A.
There, more than enough buttons.
I hope the rolling is actually something like hold Z and use analog stick, that A is for jumping, and B for shooting. But yeah, since aiming is easier, controls should be breezier this time around.
Regulus Tera

If there was one franchise that screamed "Wii me!!" it was S&P.
I just hope Treasure doesn't skimp on enemy and level count. Aiming controls tilt the balance to the player a lot.

Hey, what do you have against lightgun games? I think the Wii needs MORE of them.
That said, I'm also hoping for a new Kid Icarus, preferably with a better voice than the TERRIBLE Brawl one, and maybe a good Starfox game wouldn't hurt either.

Now, that's clearly Isaac at the front, and it looks like Mia behind him, but the person who I originally thought was Garret seems to be using a lightning attack. Good news! I guess that means it isn't a remake if there's a new character!

Where'd that artwork come from?
If this is official artwork, then I think we're looking at the offspring of Isaac and Garet, and some new Mercury adept. At first I thought it could be Mia's daughter, but all of them having children is too convenient.

Resurrection of a Classic
Players engage in nonstop shooter action as they’re propelled through this run-and-gun style
game. Isa and Kachi are being hunted. They go on the run and on the defensive, shooting
everything in sight. Sin and Punishment 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the Japanese
Nintendo 64™ cult-classic shooter. It brings a frantic arcade sensibility to a post-apocalyptic
world. Fans who can’t wait for the sequel can replay the original game by downloading it from
the Virtual Console™ section of the Wii™ Shop Channel.
FEATURES:
• Players can run on foot or take to the skies with a jetpack or hovering skateboard-like device to dodge enemy
attacks or get a better lock on their targets.
• Players can fire at targets in the distance or switch to sword attacks for close-range targets.
• The Wii Remote™ controller’s pointing ability is used to aim weapons, while the Nunchuk™ controller is used for
positioning and maneuvering.
• Numerous settings include beautifully rendered cityscapes and dramatic underwater tunnels, all populated by
fierce enemies.
• It’s all about the multiplier. The better a player’s skills, the more points are earned, and the bigger the bonus.
Players will want to play the game again and again to beat their personal best on each level. The better the
performance, the bigger the multiplier and the higher the final score.

I don't have a problem against Final Fantasy Online, I'm just disappointed that from what was shown there's nothing to differentiate the title from XI. Each FF, regardless of your opinion of it, has a je ne sais quoi that makes it seem unique in comparison to the others.

Tatsunoko VS Capcom trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijHSQDgkYPo&fmt=18
SAN MATEO, CA — June 2, 2009 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to North America for the Wii™ home video game system. Capcom’s popular and critically acclaimed ‘VS’ fighting series is getting an all new next-generation introduction. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom pits Capcom’s iconic characters against Tatsunoko Productions anime superheroes. This clash of heroes face off in two-on-two battles for the ultimate 2D tag-team battle.
Originally released in Japanese arcades in the Fall of 2008, the original Tatsunoko vs. Capcom moved to the Wii console on December 11, 2008. This extraordinary fighter will blend these two rich universes by taking Capcom characters like Ryu from Street Fighter, Morrigan from Darkstalkers and the giant PTX-40A from Lost Planet and putting them against Tatsunoko fan-favorite characters from Gatchaman, Hurricane Polymar, Casshern and more. It’s a battler oyale that delivers match-ups that only exist in fans wildest dreams!
Unlike the more well-known six-button layout that the Street Fighter franchise pioneered, the VS line features a simplified four button system: “Weak”, “Medium”, “Strong” and “Assist” for the tag-team option of. The “Assist” feature adds another compelling element found Capcom’s other “VS” series: allowing players to switch their character on the fly or call for help from their tag-team partner, allowing for spectacular super moves (“Hyper Variable Combination”). Successful execution of the Assist feature can turn the tide of battle on a dime. Historically the VS series excels in integrating the tag-team options by including customized moves like Variable Assist, Snapback, and the previously mentioned Hyper Variable combination that lets both characters on one team perform their Hyper attack.
TvC enhances the above gameplay with new mechanics, including the Variable Aerial Rave that allows characters to be switched in the middle of an Aerial rave. More moves include the offensive Assault and defensive maneuver Mega Crash. Another new gameplay mechanic, titled Baroque, illuminates the character in a rainbow of colors, cancels the current attack and extends combos and damage.
Featuring a robust line-up of characters, the console version added four mini-games and optional control schemes
This “newer” version of TvC, currently dubbed Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, removes one character due to licensing issues, and adds five new ones, online gameplay, more mini-games and an enhanced story mode.
Features:
• 26 fan-favorite characters from the Tatsunoko and Capcom universes face-off in this stylish 2D fighter
• Tag-team battles and customized two-character fighting techniques produce a wild, dazzling spectacle
• Wi-Fi Online gameplay allows worldwide matches
• Four battle modes include Friend, Rival, Free and Ranked Battles
• Match-ups are not restricted to just “Friends”
• Earn Points and Titles (for Title Creation) for all to see
• All-new VS gameplay mechanics creates a new way for fans to return to the series
• More than 20 Mini-game provide additional multiplayer fun
• Enhanced control schemes offer a simplified control scheme option and allow use of the Classic Controller and Gamecube Controller
• Wii-exclusive

Not only that but there's a small section with what looks like (Super Metroid spoilers) Mother Brain in her big-stompy-laser-robot form from Super Metroid, and at the end of the trailer is Samus in a lab checking bodies? An orbital lab? Say near Ceres? It's unlikely but there could be some Super Metroid remakery bits there.
Whatever it is I want to play it right now and can't wait for 2010 or at least for some story details to appear. I'd like to find out what happens after Fusion but prequels are tasty enough. Definitely highlight of the show (so far) for me.

IGN got an interview with Reggie Fils-Aimé (http://wii.ign.com/articles/989/989857p1.html):
IGN: You have a bit more insight on the development of Galaxy 2. What's the direction for the game? Do they really want to blow it out or will it be more of the same?
Reggie: What Mr. Miyamoto has shared is that if the first Galaxy was maybe more inviting in terms of all the audiences, what Galaxy 2 is going to be is maybe a little more Nintendo fan / harder gamer focused. A little tougher. The use of Yoshi makes it a little more challenging. We showed some of the snippets of some of the activities -- it's a bit more challenging. It's going to be, if you will, for more of that passionate Mario fan who grew up getting challenged with Super Mario World. It's going to be much more in that area
Seems like they are answering my only complaint about Galaxy.

I've been telling those pricks for years!
If they omit the purple coin missions they answer my only complaint about SMG.
Funnily enough, collecting 100 stupid damn coins in stupid damn places was really tedious and actually ruined that game for me. "Oh hey lets place coins 95-100 over an instant death pit which if you fall into means you have to find every single one again and lets put them really low down so you need the timing of a ninja to get them all and survive! Yeah!" Screw you, desert level!
It's a shame because up to those missions I really loved the game but they frustrated me so much I got sick of it. I'll have to come back to it at some point and just pretend they aren't there.

My big concern with the Other M story is that it's going to turn out to be the Adam Malkovich show: guest-starring Samus Aran due to a misguided attempt to justify Samus liking him so much in Metroid 4.
To clarify what I mean, a story about the Life and Times of Adam Malkovich and the parts of the Life and Times of Samus Aran in which Adam plays a role are very different, and I'd much prefer to see the latter. Normally I wouldn't worry, but Adam's a dude and Samus isn't, and it's still all too common for women to draw the short stick even when they're supposed to be the protagonist of the fucking story.
I ain't saying he should be a bit player or a chump. When Samus Aran thinks you were an awesome motherfucker you've got to have thrown down some serious shit. Best case, he comes up with smart plans and maybe gets a little bit of UST, but he doesn't leap into direct action until it's time to die for the cause. There's plenty of room to take that too far. Worst case scenario, Adam's a Gary Stu and Samus has an obvious crush on him.

I consider completely avoiding fan service a lost cause, so I'm just hoping that it'll have the gameplay to make up for it ten fold.

I have some serious reservations about Metroid: Other M. Yeah, the breast loving dude left Team Ninja, but also, pretty much what made good Team Ninja games laft as well. The mixing of the sidescroller and third person elements seems really kinda weird, and I'm starting to fear this will be a very linear game. Fusion was pretty linear, but I can't shake the notion that exploration will be taken out of this entirely.
Also, story scenes, what? I like my story integrated into the actual game, like how Retro Studios was doing it.
I know I have a reputation of being a pessimist about things like this around here, but I see very little to look forward to in this new Metroid venture. Hopefully my fears will be/already have been disproved by actual gameplay footage, but I'll not hold my breath, instead opting to wait to see what Retro Studios is working on next.
Something I find very intriguing, however, is this rumor that Kojima Productions will be handling the next Castlevania.
Magical Girl Transformation: Didn't see it. Probably wouldn't care.
Linearity: I love linearity, though I definitely see where Mike is coming from on this one.
Story integration: I have to agree. I don't generally associate Metroid with cinematic cutscenes. I don't have a problem with them, but MP3 seemed better off without them.
Gameplay: Once again, and I'm as shocked as anyone, I have to agree with Mike. It could be awesome, but it sounds like an "OMG IDEA IS SOOOO ORIGINAL TOO BAD THE APPLICATION SUCKS!" instance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doki_Doki_Panic
The game is known for its Western conversion in 1988 as Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, which had its characters changed to those from Nintendo's popular Mario franchise.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros._2
Unlike the majority of other Mario titles, SMB2 was not developed from an independent point, but rather it is a redesign of the Japanese Famicom Disk System game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. Nintendo's original sequel to Super Mario Bros. was released in Japan as "Super Mario Bros. 2" in 1986, however because of that game's perceived difficulty and its close similarities to the original game, Nintendo decided not to release it in the West at that time.

I just don't find what I see in the trailer to be what I look for in a Metroid game. Like I said, this could all be reversed when more tangible gameplay is shown; I'd just rather have reservations be proven wrong than have high hopes crashing to the ground.
The thing with Metroid Prime is that it was one thing. They were able to focus on making that one thing awesome. This is multiple things. I worry that at least one of the gameplay types will suffer from it.

SIN AND PUNISHMENT 2 IMPRESSIONS (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16143890&postcount=46):
NINTENDO WINS E3
I played it three times straight today on the showfloor.
It's that fucking great.
Astonishing game, really: the original is surely in my top 5 ever, but this one seemed so fucking spot on...it has the same feeling, the same pacing, the same atmosphere... and it plays like a motherfucking DREAM.
The action is even more smooth, the rhythm is insane and the fact that the character can now float makes things a little different yet so familiar.
Game of the show IMHO (at least for now) along with Bayonetta.
Oh, just a little complain: the graphics are not that amazing, especially the textures could definitely use some work.
But it's ok since there's so much stuff on screen...

I have a question. Do you morph into a giant robot like in the first one?
Not in the E3 demo.
And about the sword slashes: if you quickly press B you swing the sword, if you keep B pressed you fire projectiles.
If works amazing, really (even if honestly the demo -which is pretty long!- is mainly focused on gunfire).
BTW with the fact that you often float the game has a very Space Harrier feel to it.
AIR ROLLING (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16146253&postcount=53)?!
OMG this game rules. I played it twice on the show floor. The minute you pick up the Wii-mote, you already know exactly what to do. This is the perfect game for the Wii.

E3 2009: Sin & Punishment 2 Hands-on
The sequel we never thought we'd get.
by Mark Bozon
June 2, 2009 - Perhaps the biggest announcement of Nintendo's fall conference last year was the out-of-the-blue debut of Sin & Punishment 2 for Nintendo Wii. As a sequel to a Japanese-only N64 release, we were surprised to see this seemingly dead franchise revived by a partnership between the Big N and developer Treasure. Even more surprising is the fact that Sin & Punishment 2 - supplemented only by the release of the import, still-Japanese original version as a Virtual Console download here in the US – is in fact headed to the States, and is also playable here at E3.
Being a huge fan of the original – and all-around Treasure junkie – I made sure to jump into the Wii-bound sequel as fast as possible, and after time with both Isa and Kachi – the male and female playable characters – in the demo level I'm back with every gritty detail.
Check out the E3 trailer by clicking the link above.
First off: online connectivity. Nintendo hasn't mentioned anything in printed materials, but I did have a chance to confirm with the on-floor game reps that online leaderboards will be supported for those looking to get top scores and post them against the best in the world. No other details have been mentioned, but online is in, and quite frankly it was needed. This game is all about points, and high scores mean nothing without the bragging rights that come with them.
Speaking of high scores, the game's combo system is back and in full effect. As long as you don't get hit, killing enemies stats up the score, and contributes to a multiplier that in turn boosts every kill you pull off. As you'd expect, Treasure has littered the game with dozens and dozens of enemies at a time, often making use of "flocks" of flying targets that serve little more purpose than helpless combo-boosters. One hit though, and you're back to the original scores for each kill.
As for the controls, Sin & Punishment 2 was born for Wii IR blasting. Dare I say the game was too easy at times, as the slick movement of the in-game sights made for really, really fast targeting. I'd assume the game was running on an easy mode, and I was nowhere near close to killing full waves of enemies, but health was rarely an issue at all. The same general controls make a return, now enhanced by the Wii's pointer. You've got fire assigned to the B trigger, a quick tap will start melee combos instead of shooting, holding A preps a huge alternate attack (with Isa it's a huge blue sphere of energy great for taking down bosses, while Kachi's is a multi-target missile that makes multiplier raising a cinch), Z plus a direction dodges, C jumps (and hovers with a second tap mid-air), and you point to aim. Pretty simple.
This game is pretty. 'Nuff said.
With huge special attacks (hold A to charge, and release) there's a very subtle HUD system used to show not only how powerful you charge is, but also when the shot can be fired again. Holding A starts a blue ring circling around the aiming sights, and releasing cashes in that charge time – which takes the place of firing – for blasting power. Once shot, a red ring takes its place, and begins to dissipate until the charge is ready again. As one minor complaint – it's a small one – the charge will kick in the second it's finished if you just hold A, and since general gunplay is also a hold-to-fire affair you could technically grip the remote really hard (holding in A and B) and shut your brain off until wanting to fire your special shot each time. Release A once, and then just go back to holding both buttons.
It's a very minor issue though, and the overall gameplay demo was pretty dang fun. There was only one mission (and one difficulty) available, but the game mixed up plenty of bullet-hell moments with huge foreground melee enemies, swarms of flying creatures, mini-bosses that would scatter before being destroyed, only to return again later in the level, and a conclusion "boss rush" of sorts with three heavy opponents at the end. As a few other random notes, I haven't seen any real reason to not fly around the whole time (your jetpack is infinite in the demo, though that might just be the stage itself) and the demo level today was very wide open, giving it a half Sin & Punishment feel, and an almost Star Fox-like backdrop. I can't wait to play more – or see if there are any punishingly difficult modes included outside of the main game – but with a Q1 2010 release date it may be a while before we see more on Nintendo's ode to the hardcore.
