Does anyone like Hockey here and is anyone at all watching the Stanley Cup Finals?
I'm Cheering for Red Wings over Penguins mainly because I dislike some of the Penguins. It has been exciting hockey though but Fluery's been letting in to many week goals. Tonights game in Pittsburg should be a good one. Anyone else got any thoughts on it?
And am I blind in not seeing a sports section or is there not one?

There isn't really one. I mean, you could argue that it goes into "TV, Movies, and Animation," but sports aren't really in the same vein as those. Usually such threads end up here.
Also, my folks are both from Pittsburgh, so I am partial to their teams. However, I am not a stout follower of hockey, so I'm more down for a good series for watching than anything each year.

Yeah, sports threads really don't come up often enough to devote a forum to it. They mostly come up in these situations, when a season is ending and one team is to be declared winner.
As for the Stanley Cup, I lost interest when the Blues lost in the first round.

I am a hockey fan, though I dont much like hockey on TV. I usually go to our local team's games (WHL). I am cheering for the Pens though, because I hate the Redwings. They are the Yankees of Hockey. "Hey lets BUY a stanley cup every year." Also, I would like the Pens to win so that Hossa would have to eat crow for being a liar.

That;s sad. I've been watching hockey since I was a kid. The finals are extremely exciting right now so if you actually like watching hockey because its hockey you be in for a treat. I agree with the Yankee - Red Wing comparison. But the salery cap limited that, it's just that they had their stars and really good players tied down for a decent lenght just before the cap came into place. They were more prepared for the cap then any other team. The Rangers and Leafs were the worst 2 for spend for cup but thankfully horrible management made it impossible for them to win.
Personally I'm a flame fan.

I am Canadian and I cheer the Red Wings EVERY DAMN DAY.
Because every Canadian team has been TERRIBLE for YEARS.
Also in related news I got punched at my workplace for insulting the Canadiens. :P

Hahah, Canadiens SUCK anyways :p I cheered for the flames since I saw them win the 89 cup in Montreal.
Since the last Canadian team to win a cup in 1992-1993 season we've pretty much bit the bullet and 3 straight years (if you discount lockout) of losers in the finals was to annoying.
I'm not one of those canadian fans who goes "cheer for canadian team" I cheer for teams going down a long list lol.

I've been a huge hockey fan ever since my dad was feeding me a bottle and watching Hockey Night in Canada with me. I was born and raised in Montreal, so of course I root for the Habs. If the Habs aren't in the playoffs (which they often aren't) I really don't root for anyone else. I guess playing hockey for 17 years as well as watching it has really solidified my love for one true team.

I went to a fight once, and a hockey game broke out. It was kinda boring. Jokes aside, I normally cheer one the SJ Sharks becuase, honestly, the idea of a shark on ice entertains me. Not a big fan of hokey, but I follow it from time to time. Always was more of a football/archery guy myself.

At least you aren't a Leaf fan Batgirl!
I've been around hockey since i was pretty much born. Pictures of me watching it on TV, wearing evil leaf cloths due to dad being a leaf fan.(I've been tainted by their EVIL). The playing it in the house with those mini sticks when i was 3 then actually starting to skate and learn how to play when i was 5. My last game I actually played was 3 months ago in a adult league so I don't think I can even not watch hockey its in my blood. I even get bored over the summer by not being able to watch it lol. I have a deep love for the game in general and will watch hockey on TV whenever its on. I'll watch the flames everytime they are on.
I'm hopin the flames bounce back next year, they have a really good team but we have Cap issues right now. It's funny, 11 years ago we couldn't afford a star player, now we're paying 5 players over 4mil a season Crazyness. I think thats the only thing that bugs me about pro sports. It costs an arm and a leg to see a game and the athletes make way to much money for playing a game. In my opinion anyways.

Fuck it, I am saying it here.
I am an Edmonton Oilers fan through and through despite the immense level of crap they have gone through the last few seasons. I was raised during the glory years of Oilers Hockey (Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr etc etc).

Hahaha. I lived in Fort McMurray from 86-89 and Sherwood park from 89-99 so I still saw the high powered Oilers play but I'll forever be a flame fan! DAMN YOU!!! :p
But theres nothing wrong with the Oilers in all honesty, the rivarlys great and they have some awesome young talent. Just need a stable D and you could probably make a good run at things.
