Since 8-Bit is close to ending, and there's much more going on the main site nowadays, I figure having a more universal forum logo may be prudent. I figure it wouldn't hurt to kick around a few ideas.

I played around with the main site logo a bit and came up with these, at least to get the ball rolling. I realize now, after I'm done, that they're approximatly twice as long as they should be. I keep forgetting that 1680x1050 isn't a resolution everyone uses. Sadly, rearranging them is beyond my The Gimp skill levels, and when I resize them they become blurry as fuck or ugly as fuck, and it's 6 AM and I haven't slept yet so really fuck that shit. Anyhow, maybe someone else can work them into a more suitable format, or work up an even better logo.

Pffft, everything knows you should post important things where people will find them.

I approve. Logo looks nice. Orange atom one is better.

It could work if moving the banner ad a bit to the right is a viable option:

Use of cut and paste to make a two-row image would work better than shrinking that monstrosity to a good size. Even then, though, it's not necessarilly the best means to get the current site's logo, color hue change aside, into the current forum logo's dimensions.

If I hadn't just been out, I'd cut up the logo or something.

I tried to throw together a decently sized Nuklear Power logo with the atomic symbol as the O, but I couldn't get it to look pretty so I gave up.

It could work if moving the banner ad a bit to the right is a viable option:I'd think that the assumption is for 1024x768 as the 'base' resolution. What you are demonstrating only works for 1280x1024 or higher. However, if The Powers That Be decide "Screw you, 1024; 1280 is where it's at!", then yeah it'd probably be fine.

Tried some resizing, seems to have worked better tonight than a couple nights ago; go figure. Still, the 'power' looks a bit too iffy for my tastes, and it's a bit small vertically. I don't trust myself to be able to fix up the first problem, but, here they are, regardless.

If I hadn't just been out, I'd cut up the logo or something.Yeah, I don't hold my ability to use the eraser tool and the "Colorize..." dialog in The Gimp in particularly high regard. This really was a cheap edit. Also was probably the extent of my photo editing powers. I could theoretically cut/resize canvas/paste, but reconstructing the parts of the logo formerly obscured is definately beyond my ability to do in any resonable stretch of time.

EDIT: Yeah, especially since the perspective on the 'Power' needs to be corrected for it to look right, first.
