I, as many of you here, have pets. So, I decided, why not have a thread celebrating our companions?

There are currently six animals living in the house, but only one is my pet. And that would be this bastard:

Aurora. Showed up on our backdoorstep as a kitten one day, and has been here ever since. Is generally very affectionate, except when he wants to be a bastard. Loves the ladies.

And now, the pets that are not mine!

Spunky, the guinea pig. He's rather large for a guinea pig, leading me to suspect he is actually a pygmy capybara. Very talkative pig, too.

Scooter, the yorkie. She is your typical yorkie, bit of a jelous attention whore, but she's cute enough most times. She is also very good at catching mice.

Bear. He's essentially a really big corgi, because he's got those little short corgi legs. We think he's probably a mix between corgi and one of the Spitz breeds, maybe an American Eskimo Dog or a Samoyed. He's probably the mellowlest dog ever, and I highly suspect he got a cat's soul by mistake.

Sam. Pure energy in dog form. She's mostly, if not all, Australian Shepard, so she is a very hyper, playful dog. Found by a freind of my mom's at a gas station, where someone left a litter in a box outside of it sometime in the night (during 5 F temperatures). She is also 35-40 pounds of dog who thinks she is a lapdog.

The newest addition, Xena. Vet says she's almost pure Lab, with maybe 1/16th german shepard. This means she eats things. Many many many things. She wandered onto my mom's country property this weekend, where she worked her way into everyone's hearts. The vet said that she was likely abused, given the way she was responding torward him. The slightest bit of discipline she becomes extremely timid, and she'll squat and pee if you touch her when she's like that, or if you want to teach her to sit. She alsolays down flat when a leash is put on her, and will only crawl. She loves people, though, and is very friendly.

At first she was very quiet and calm in the house, but now she's getting more playful and happy. She's 5 months old, given by her adult teeth growing in. She is currently 37 lbs. She can get to be as big as 75 lbs.

So, as you see, I am inundated by dogs. But, they're all just so loveable.

So, who are your pets?

Aww, Mike! Just looking at those makes me think of my dearly departed dog, Sammie. She was a pure bread Golden retriever. Got her when I was 3 and she lived to be 14 years old and have two litters of pups, 16 in all. Here's a pic of her with two of them, she's the one in the middle:

The two other were Bacha on the left and Sacha on the right.

Back when she had her first litter in 1996 (10 in all, pure bread):

As of now, the only pet I have in my possesion in my tiny little bird, Shelly, whose wings have recently grown back, so now she's flying everywhere in the appartment whenever she's got a chance. She also sings like crazy every morning, so she's a pretty good alarm clock if ever I forget to program mine the day before. Here's a pic, sorry for bad quality, was taken with a webcam:

I've had many other pets, but none that I have a any pictures of yet.

Ah pets...

Right now this is the first time in... many many years that we've only had one cat, and it's this beast right now:

His name is Oreo but I call him "Beast" lovingly. He got first place in a (small time) cat show when he was a kitten, but I think that's because he's so freaking cuddly and lovable. He hammed it up for the judges because when I brought him up to the table to be judged he wrapped his paws around my neck and nuzzled my chin, which he never does unless he's hungry. I later won along with the comment "you obviously have a very close bond with your cat"

Which isn't really true since he's my mom's cat. He's pretty indifferent towards me unless both my mom and dad aren't home. My cat was Emmy:

(sorry about the random white spot, my scanner didn't like the picture apparently)

A seal-point himalayan I got from a friend when she had to move and couldn't take her cat with her. Emmy was hugely afraid of everyone but she bonded with me like crazy. Unfortunately she got old and really sick so we had to put her down. I still miss her terribly. She always used to cuddle with me whenever I would sleep at home.

Aw man now I made myself all sad. :(

This ball of fluff is Rosie:

She's a Yorkie/something mix whom we rescued from the pound almost 16 years ago. She's been our pet ever since. Yea, she's getting up there in age, but she has a lot of pep in her still; the vet just told us she has the body of an 11 year old in fact. She loves getting tummy rubs but is not a lap dog really, she'd rather just lie next to you on the couch.

These are 2 of my Cats, Belle, the one on the Left. And Optimus Prime, the one on the right who's laying back acting like he just got laid. They're both spayed/neutered so no worries there! Belle is 2.5 years now and Optimus is a 2 year old baby. We got Belle from our Humane Society. We found Optimus as part of a litter abandoned in a basket of about 5 kittens at about 2 1/2 weeks old tops. We had bottle fed them and gave them all away when they were 3-4months old. Kept Optimus because he is my baby. He'll lay on my shoulders while I play Video games and wraps himself around my head when I sleep. He still has a bad habit of licking/suckling on my earlobes due to thinking that I'm his mother or father still. Trying to break him of it but its difficult. They seem to get a long very well out of all our cats. They also almost always sleep beside each other if they aren't sleeping on us. Both are attention whores as well. Optimus is worse towards me, he'll paw at my legs when I get home from work wanting to be picked up. Belle just meows till someone starts petting her.

I have 2 other cats and a dog, no pictures of them uploaded right now. Will get em up later.
