Now, I make it no secret that I don't enjoy most rap music, but there are exceptions, and these exceptions deserve a thread of their own.

Combat from Afro Samurai: Ressurection (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuouURRMbVM)
This song was easily the best thing about Ressurection.

Just a Lil Dude from Afro Samurai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXEqSfgZyT0)

Fury in My Eyes from Afro Samurai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VjX2DflxFI)

Look Pimpin! from MadWorld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QE9c6neW3M)

You Don't Know Me from MadWorld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQVSeuVojgo)

Let's Go from MadWorld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27BjB2IW3Tg)

Both song groups seem devoid of misogyny, from what I can understand, which is an automatic plus, and they don't seem as reliant on the BMPH BMPH BMPH bass beats that seem to replace the music in pretty much every other rap song I hear, although that last bit might be the fault of the people I hear listening to the rap, just cranking up the bass till you can't hear anything else. But yeah, there is a lot more actual music than what I normally hear when I hear rap, so gets a yes from me.

Are The Flobots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flobots) rap? Maybe. If so, them.

And a friend told me about something called "Deltron 3030 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deltron_3030_%28album%29)" that seems made of weirdness. I approve of weirdness.

If Duane and Brando count, I'd throw them in here. Namely for Zelda II, Final Fantasy and Megaman II.

Also, Public Enemy. They made some alright stuff.

This may be an odd question, but does the P3 music qualify? I mean other than the FES opening, which is in itself quite good.

P3 really is a magnificent piece of work, and even though I normally wouldn't listen to the music elsewhere, it really is a fine example of whatever it is.

I've always been partial to This is How We Do It (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z167eXvBTlA) by Montell Jordan.

Not sure if it's really rap but it's pretty similar.

Bloodhound Gang (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xat1GVnl8-k) and Fort Minor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ska8_JAtL8) are pretty good, generally speaking.

Other than that I enjoy MC Chris (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvLqlQ6lV4s) even more than most other nerdcore, even though I know most people will insist that there's much better nerdcore out there.

Also, I love how most of the stuff linked is all "VIDJAGAME RAPS."

For geeky stuff, I enjoy some MC Frontalot (http://frontalot.com/index.php/) or some Random (http://www.megaran.com/) (who did the MegaRan albums).

For less geeky stuff, I listen to Madvillain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpaonSDPw7Y), Saul Williams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuQVNA3JstU), Blackalicious (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvPnM2Q1nwU), and El-P (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buvAjP1VN7c).

If you don't maind that there Japanese languages and such, I dig Rip Slyme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UetLWhdgn5M).

I used to enjoy some of the kanye stuff... but i can't stand "gangsta rap".

i'm really more of a "if it has a fiddle or a metal riff" i enjoy it.

This must be one of those tricks where I come out and you all throw apples at me, fine then
Lupe Fiasco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupe_fiasco)
Anything said here (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=36591), but look him up anyway.
MF Doom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MF_Doom)
Doom is a rapper who likes to make concept albums under different identities. He raps in an unusual style that forgoes the use of hooks and choruses for a long continued verse. He has multiple identites that he varyingly uses
MF DOOM: Performs in a metal mask and with those two facts combined.. it's exactly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewc1hixzYPY)what you'd imagine it to be.
Viktor Vaughn: A time traveling teenager. DOOM stole his girlfriend (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V0mPD6FhXQ), but he still thinks Vik's a pretty cool kid.
King Gheedorah: Space Monster (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRn9BRo4Igw). wants to take over the world. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vET-sG1McCE)
Aesop Rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aesop_Rock)
Aesop Rock is a very abstract rapper, while some of his songs are very direct, some of them can be downright confusing. But he's just a great rapper common topics include, well all kinds of hippy stuff really.
from living your dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0VQEfbMwb4), to being a member of the working class and how much it sucks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rkf5H7J-S0)
Mr. Lif (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr_Lif)
If Aesop was'nt political enough, Mr Lif will surely be, cause.. well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzuJwuqKdpc), damn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0h83hbqkZg). Him and Aesop Rock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5PElv46G1E)are on the same label(or were :( ) and it shows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iBlZ-f3jlE)he makes awesome music though, and I'd reccomend I Phantom over all his albums
Quasimoto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasimoto)
Quasimoto is really an alter ego of a great producer(but only an occaisonally decent rapper in his own voice, go figure) named Madlib, and you should look his stuff up. Quasimoto raps about simple topics, but he's just fun stuff (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glUG04b4KP0). plus low class conspiracy is awesome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEHRz_4ROLQ)
Cannibal Ox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannibal_Ox)
Can Ox is an awesome group, their lyrics and sound has this heavy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HXpqYMQ5l4), almost epic quality (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pADgllloQg4)that I just love.
Mos Def (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mos_def)
I should'nt really have to tell you about Mos, seing as he's all over TV and such, but he's great (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycJ5m5Mt9JE), Him and Talib Kweli Made an awesome album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx5aVI2zsFE)together.
Talib Kweli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talib_Kweli)
Same as Mos, you should know of him already, but if'n you don't he's awesome, pretty political though, so be forewarned
Common (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_(entertainer))
Common rounds out my "all over the damn place" rapper group, and he's awesome, makes some great love songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCjKMDTGT-c), but was also pretty excellent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y12YgEIFcAY)back in his traditional MC days
Despot (http://www.myspace.com/despotroast)
Despot has never released an album, but he's GREAT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8pcpFmfXKw)!
Beastie Boys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beastie_Boys)
They're the freaking BEASTIES, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBShN8qT4lk)son! they're awesome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9bS1dE0ps8)!
Fugees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fugees)
The Fugees made one of the best damn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUrJdf4PbEk) Hip-hop albums ever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ighu4gGlaUE).
Jay Dilla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Dilla)
Jay dilla is one of the most influential Hip-Hop producers. Madlib owes a lot to to him, as does Danger Mouse And MF Doom.I'd link him, but they frequently use his instrumentals as the music for the Adult Swim text bumps
Gangstarr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangstarr)
Gangstar Is an excellent old school group (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHnNx01L9ts). and they're not gangsta rap so don't let the name throw you off
The Roots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Roots)
The Roots are an excellent Rap/Soul group (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qzacv8dtb4) They're a combination of live funk and soul music with hip-hop

Premonition's post is pretty much the go-to for some good rap. Damn bro, your taste in rap is like EXACTLY same as mine haha.

But ummm besides that list, I would def recommend that people listen to a lot of Samurai Champloo's soundtrack and a lot of music from Nujabes (he's the creator of a bunch of SC's music)

Champloo Opening 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OuRajFzMYI)

Highs 2 Lows (Street Remix) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jWcky_Ay0M)

I'll post up some slightly more mainstream songs later.

EDIT: Actually one right now =D

One of my favorite songs. Very old school and very nice jazzy beat..

They Reminisce Over You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okUhwXsahHM)

Oh and kudos to whoever knows the name of the rapper in my avatar!

Nah man it's actually Bishop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMOxuKQQ0oY) Lamont (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcHCFpKn7-E). His whole album N*gger Noize is really good.

More stuff

Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (Besides having the greatest artist name ever, he has some pretty good songs: Catch A Bad One (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9vimihLXCU))

Here's a very interesting track. Doom Tang Clan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfQ2_AglqTY) The beat sounds very different from typical rap songs I've heard. And even though this is the Wutang version, I've heard MF Doom singing to this beat too.

Mos Def...... Rapping DOOM.... I just... I don't have words..... ! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTBIvIDnnv8) AHHHH! SOOO AWESOME (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwZGJ-l74RU)

Edit: That beat is from Rap Snitch Knishes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZwQSbpOU_k), that song is so ingrained in my head anytime someone says "delicious" around me one of two things happens
1: "huh? someone call me?"
2: Them: Delicious
Me: "Rap snitch knishes!..... what?"

I don't know why, but this song usually is good for at least a smile. (http://www.spike.com/video/little-t-one-track/3055630) ("Shaniqua" by Little T)
