Okay...

I have not laughed like that forever. Awesome comic Brian.

Poor Barry keeps getting shafted.

That is indeed how you get it done. Looks like Ackbar's Amnesia Dust shop was finally good for something!

DAMMIT!!

Why didn't I call it!?

I knew this was going to happen. Last night, I was washing dishes, and I thought, "How are they going to get the power to fight Chaos?"

Then it hit me: We haven't seen the Real Warriors for awhile, and the only remaining "fuck you" for the Light Warriors to give them would be to steal their power so that they would, in effect, replace them as the Real Warriors.

I finally could have called one, and I didn't do it. Double dammit!

Martyr

I called it! Except that I called Thief failing, not succeeding. Foolish me. Thief always prevails when he actually does something other than run away...

Excellent

By the way, Brian:

Hilarious episode! Thief's disguise was awesome, and the whole "tell them exactly how you're about to screw them over" ploy was extremely well-played.

Ryanderman

I had to stop reading when I saw Thief's disguise.

Once I picked myself up off the floor and calmed the spasms of laughter, I was hit with the rest of the comic.

Of course, it would have been much easier to just ask the Real Light Warriors to defeat Chaos for them... and THEN steal their stuff/amnesia dust them.

It was for their own good; it's quite alarming for everyone involved if your Ninja has less weapons than your White Wizard.

Yaaaaay! Brian brought back the Real Light Warriors(tm) one more time! Thank you!

Now start using overworld sprites again.

Kyanbu The Legend
12-10-2009, 02:11 AM
Indeed that's how you get it done. They probably could've had them fight chaos first then steal their weapons from their cold, dead, hands and then fight him. But hey who says they can't still do that.

TheDarkChocobo
12-10-2009, 02:23 AM
wouldn't the real light warriors be a little nerfed now though? i think the defeat of Chaos may have something to do with WM... i mean she is technically God after all.

Bellerophon
12-10-2009, 02:29 AM
Yeah, I'm surprised Thief didn't think to point the light warriors at chaos... but that would be too much thinking for our guys, so I'm not actually surprised in the least.

Also, awesome.

Oh god DAMN IT.

It's 3:23, and I've probably woken up my entire house from laughing oh-so hard. But I couldn't help it. This is like.. One of the all time best comics in the archive. It ranks right up there with the comic that has fighter saying "Whatever you say... Ultrabuddy"

Here they are, burning to death in 775 (http://www.nuklearpower.com/2006/11/28/episode-775-linguistics/)

I can't find the comic you're talking about right now, but I'm like 100% sure that it takes place before that one.

Not to death, they are obviously alive in this strip

Because I clearly meant it literally, due to the fact that they are obviously alive in this strip.

Also, how do we know they're alive? They could be undead.

This is why I still read this comic other than the fact that I can't stop

Anyway, this is perfect. The only thing left I wanna see before the end is the return of the Armoire of Invincibility. Talked about since the very first comic, it's 8-Bit Theater's oldest and best gag.

Ah, so that's where the Real Light Warriors were. Pitty that Thief now hit the Reset Button on them.

I'm now 100% convinced, that this comic will end with the universe destoryed. The question now is just: How badly destroyed?

I was almost going to call it but then decided not to in order to not spoil anything for anyone.

Up next: Barry gets fired off screen and we'll never know it.

Also: That's not RM's dress.
Red Mage's dress is a bit tighter in order to accentuate his butt.

I almost choked on my food and water while reading this page.

Now watch as the weapons somehow backfire on the Light Warriors. How? Maybe some/most of those weapons only end up being powerful through thousands upon thousands of battles that weren't fled from. In a row.

Or Chaos can just be a jerk and make their weapons fake/disappear when they reach him.

Either way, I'm eager to know what comes up next.

not if Masamune's among them, xD. (that weapon's universal in FF1 - ANYONE can equip it. It's not until FF4 onwards that it's class restricted.)

I have to admit, I was disappointed at first since the title made me think it was a Dark Warrior episode, but this one was great.

This episode also made me realize that Thief gets shit done. Only two major blunders I can think of were shaking Muffin's hand and stealing his class change at the wrong point in time. Really, I'd like to see a Fighter vs. Thief debate in terms of badassery/awesomeness/success/competence.

Also, is the "grand adventure" mentioned in the last panel referring to the previously mentioned forging an era of peace or their very first adventure? (The "too much" comment and the fact that it's funnier that way implies the latter, but it's not too clear.)

Well... there's a difference between "always wins" and "badass." I'd say Fighter's the only badass of the lot. The rest are just asses.

Now that I actually remember them, I'm putting my money on the Real Warriors being the ones to beat Chaos anyway. Oh wait... they have no weapons. I guess we're all screwed then.

Call me wacky, but this comic had some confusing aspects...
-- "We fell through to the outer planes where we consequently saved the multiverse from being split asunder by a super-intelligent rift in time"... I can't figure out if this was something new and unrelated post-being-burned, something that happened before that with the portable hole, or something related to Chaos (it does sound vaguely like the FF storyline, especially after the "no one suspects that we saved them from certain death", etc)
-- If they got the weapons on that adventure, and Real Light Warrior Fighter thinks they're about to go on it (which I didn't quite get either until it was explained here), I guess he's referring to their older weapons (since they hadn't obtained the new ones yet)? In that case maybe Barry still has them, since only the good ones were stolen?
-- Thief sees warriors who are strong enough to get epic weapons, who volunteer to beat their enemy, and rejects their offer in favor of dressing up like a woman and doing it himself... the confusion there should be self-explanatory. I guess it could be said that Thief was sold on the idea of saving the world when RM made his pitch about him being a hero, but I didn't think one little thing RM said a few comics ago would stick with him that much (it took a while for me to remember anyway). (Unrelated, I wonder how they plan to prove they saved the world themselves... they could cut off Chaos's head and carry it around and say "look what I killed", but Chaos's head is not much bigger than Sarda's was, so not very impressive on its own)

A pity it didn't work out that the scalp came from the mother who they stole the baby from. She somehow lived, and got her baby back! (And the cult of the fairy baby was lost forever.)

If it came from a person, it was either not shown, or from further back than that.

We've seen Red Mage's attempt at fixing things, Black Mage's attempt, and Thief's successful attempt. I wonder if Fighter is going to chip in too.

Wow donīt overthink things. I think their adventure was part of the actual time loop or they adventured in Dissidia world. Also Thiefs action just shows how everyone is stupid in this comic. Thief didnīt recognize Dark Warriors when they disguised themselves as sailors.

Funny how Sarda de-leveled LW and now they de-leveled Real LW.

Maybe Thief actually HAD some amnesia dust? (or they bought some regular powder from one of the shops, where Red and Black mages cast spells on it to make amnesia dust) and they forgot everything of their adventure... maybe they even forgot they got... ninja'd (I couldn't resist) by the 4 who now have their weapons

Looks like it's time to dig up this post again!

It's specifically mentioned in those comics that the proto-universe is very impressionable. She's only able to make reality as we know it because of that. The more stable and real everything becomes, the less influence she would have. As it's been billions of years since then, she no longer has any extra sway over the course of things.

I said my product WOULD TAKE YOU PLACES, I didn't say they would be places you want to go.

And it's not all that surprising that they didn't think about sending the real Light Warriors to fight Chaos, I mean the plan they enacted involved stealing and dressing in drag, the only way it could have gotten more of them involved is if it had involved knife stabbing and swording.

Young Sarda is screwing everyone over accidentally while practicing cantrips at some wizardry school. Note that this does not contradict InsaneGenius's statement. (He got lonely in that cave, you know...)
