View Full Version : Stupid Mundane Tasks That Are Stupid
I can't tie a tie. There, I said it. It's not like I wear one every day, so I never really took the time to learn. I have a friend who can't cook, other friends who aren't tech-savvy enough to plug in their TVs, and I can't remember a time when I wasn't relied on for in-house spider removal.
A lot of mundane tasks are actually a bit difficult if you don't know how to do them - the best example I know is trying to coach me mum on airport pay-computers - but everyone else tries to muffle their giggles when airport security labels you a dangerous individual for attempted homicide with a plastic monitor.

But, not knowing how to cook is like not knowing how to fuck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO8EiScBEjA), you gotta eat the rest of your life, you might as well know how.

Click the link and you'll also know how to make Puerco Pibil. Which looks fucking delicious, and I really need to get around to getting the stuff and cooking it one of these days, but man, YOU try to find banana leaves in northern Minnesota (four hours north of St. Cloud/Minneapolis or it'd not be a problem, I'm sure).

You can always have a cheap and easy homemade ____ or pay someone to ____ for you. Fill the blanks according to your needs.
Johnny Depp killed a man over Puerco Pibil. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y91O3PsLKvU&feature=PlayList&p=3CD6305938F3C210&index=11&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL)
Anyway, YouTube saves the day, explaining in slow, easy to understand terms, how to fashion ones own corporate noose:

All my shoelaces are pre-tied. I just slide my feet right in.
...what? why should i bother with Tieing and untieing it every single time? It's stupid!

I can cook as long as I got all the directions. Seriously, it's pretty easy if you have a step-by-step manual for whichever meal you are going to prepare.
There probably are exceptions, though. But I don't like fancy food anyway.

That's what every sane person does. Seriously.
Getting up from bed is pretty stupid, though. Nothing is as bad as going from the nice and warm into the cold and harsh for no other reason than going back to that when the day is over. It ruins at least 18 hours of my day.

I have a friend who can't cook
I think quite a few people see cooking as some sort of chore that has to be done, once you get into the swing of things it's quite a peaceful activity to do and doesn't take as long as you might expect it to. Quite a few meals can be made in about 20 minutes or less, half the time you can just leave it to simmer.
I do sympathise though that it's much more motivating to cook for other people besides yourself than just cook for yourself all the time. Plus side of this: You can make all confectionary treats you want at any time.
I can't tie a tie. There, I said it. It's not like I wear one every day, so I never really took the time to learn.
We wore ties all the way through school, so everytime I tie one it's always major nostalgia to my childhood. Like touching the keys after not playing the Piano after so many years, it tends to just fall into place.
Even without this I still like wearing ties because they look smart, plus wearing work or semi-formal suits all the time is awesome. I completely recommend it.

My wife is the type of person who could burn water if it was possible. That being said, i'm the cook of the house. I'm by no means a gourmet chef or anything, but i know how to use the stove, i know which pots and pans to use and i watch Alton Brown... a lot.
I need my dad to give me refresher courses on ties everyonce in a while becasue my windsor looks like hell (my work uniform has a clip on so i'm set) and i have no choice but to tie my shoes because i wear boots. The only real mundane task i can think of is giving sony 15 bucks every month for my game...

As a 2 year culinary student (not career because I hate the food industry) I can tell you the easiest ways to make your cooking go from suck to pro:
1) Smell and taste all of your ingredients before using them as long as they are safe to do so, period.
2) Learn the theory of dishes instead of the recipes, like instead of learning how to make braised dish X, learn how to braise and then the dish will go on autopilot.
3) Practice.

Shaving. I'm not a great shaver mostly because I get bored as all blazes do it.
So it ends up that I only shave every couple of months and because my beard grows very fast it is huge and bushy and hard to shave. Gah.

Find an electric shaver with a flip out buzzer attachment thing, it should go straight through your beard.

I have one of those, AND I hate facial hair.
I'm still too lazy to shave regularly...
I have a pretty huge adam's apple, at least when compared with the rest of my neck, so whenever I have to shave, I always get a bunch of tiny cuts around there.
Fuck shaving.

It's not that she doesn't like to cook, it's that can't really do it. Even toast comes out overdone. And probably on fire.

So she's the female lead in an anime?
Something somethin Hina. I don't know - I'm more about Witch Hunter Robin, and western animation like Zim.
