Remember the independent film that was made a while back for Link?

No?

Well, it's out now.

Saria is Link's mom?

What?

What?

I got to 40 minutes in... and then just couldn't bare it any longer.
The camera work, the editing, the acting, the dialog, the oversaturated "stylized" look, and inconsistent lighting was all COMPLETELY horrible.

On the plus side they had a couple nice locations and the music is GREAT...

This fanfilm REALLY doesn't hold a candle to the Metal Gear movie (http://www.mgs-philanthropy.net/) that just came out as well as the upcoming Mega Man movie (http://megamanfilm.com/trl_lrg.html) premiering at MAGfest (http://magfest.org/) in a couple weeks... but this Zelda movie sure is... well... interesting... to say the least...

This is explains everything! Mido is clearly her husband, and is upset that she now gives all her attention to a failure of a son who has no fairy!

"Son, I didn't raise no non-fairyboy! You will find yerself a fairy, and then, whenever people are a good amount of walking distance, you'd better turn invisible if'n you know what's good for you! And what'd you do with that sword and shield I bought you?"

I could've sworn Saria was Link's adoptive mother in the game, too, or at least for a time.

I remember the trailer for this.

It made it look completely unbearable.

Looks like it was accurate.

Yeah, I predicted when the trailer came out that it was going to be full of a bad actor fighting terribly-rendered Poser monsters. The trailer proved me right - the posts in this thread make me happily able to sit back and laugh.

Though it does make it tempting to Rifftrack the crap out of it...

Mirai, I'm right there with you. I couldn't even watch the first 5 minutes without shaking in disgust.

To be fair, it's still better than anything Uwe Boll or... Ugh... The "Sy-fy" channel have produced.

But that's not saying much. Decent swordfighting at the end though.

So, is this an original movie starring LoZ characters, like the MGS movie, or is this "Look see it's just like Ocarina of Time except for the stuff we changed!"

I will say, a Zelda movie could probably work, just so long as it wasn't based on a specific game, and only borrowed characters, places, and themes from the franchise, since that's the way the whole Legend thing works.

It's a "Look see it's just like Ocarina of Time except for the stuff we changed!". To be fair though, most of the changes are there to make the movie fit the running time while introducing as many characters as possible. I'm not one to nitpick terribly on the minor changes, since the overall story is intact.

I actually don't hate the script, the special effects, the coreography and especially not the spectacular music score, but the acting and camera work is incredibly amateur with a few exceptions.

To be fair, it's still better than anything Uwe Boll or... Ugh... The "Sy-fy" channel have produced.I think it's pretty insulting to SyFy originals and Uwe Boll to put them on the same level as this, let alone below.

Sometimes, zero budget fan works are really good.

This is not one of those times.

Yes, I agree, it is rather insulting to Uwe Boll and SyFy originals.

Strangely, I have no problem with that. Although I'll admit, Tin Man was rather good.

I could've sworn Saria was Link's adoptive mother in the game, too, or at least for a time.

Nnnoooooope.

In fact there's a 'puppy love' type of romantic interest between them, that, for squick purposes (Kokiri never age past childhood), I hope is fully one direction after Link grows up.

However, if you speak to Mido after the forest temple he tells you that if you see Link (because he's a retard and can't figure out you ARE Link) to tell him that Saria 'really liked him'. Like, like liked. Like really. There's some other pretty obvious clue ins that Saria's got a thing for Link, just like every other named female in the games... but adoptive mother she wasn't.

Music: mostly pretty fantastic. The fanfare when link gets the bow: Very well done (even though the actor who plays shopkeeper blows). I also liked the actress who played the guardian of fire (she also did most of the fancy makeup).

The Goron (why was he a dirty Asian? Dirty in the sense that he was covered in dirt).
The Poe.
The thief in the lost woods.
The scene with the gamblers.
The Poe.
Link's magical new special attack.
Impaling a guy with a torch from ten feet away. Huh?! You're holding a sword in your hand!!!
Persecution of the black guy near the end.
The innkeeper was REALLY creepy.
Seriously: The poe. Can someone tell me why?!
Ganondorf's little minion.
Link spending the first twenty minutes in his underwear.

All in all though, far better than I was expecting it to be.

Seriously: The poe. Can someone tell me why?!

Um... Maybe because it was a blue bubble, not a poe? And I'm pretty sure the magical attack obtained from the FIRE sage was Din's FIRE.
