View Full Version : I Despise Sleep

Sleep is kinda fun, in its own way, when you wrap yourself in fifty blankets after a day of working in the cold or whatever. The rest of the time it is pretty much the worst thing. There are only twenty-four hours in the day, and sleep kills six on average. I call bullshit on sleep!

Who will join me in my anti-sleep rebellion?

I feel the same way, and usually end up too tired to enjoy myself if left to my own devices as a result. I don't want to sleep because I want to do more shit before I sleep, so then I don't sleep and I'm too tired to do the shit I want to do but I don't want to sleep because I still want to do it before 'tomorrow' so I get more tired and man, sleep can just go fuck itself.

Sleep is for the weak.

Having said that, I tend to do a lot of sleeping lately, because you know what sucks even more than sleeping? Unemployment.

Krylo

Unemployed also, my good man.

I disagree, however. Unemployment rocks.

What's that you say, Mr. Government? 200 dollars every week? For a year? With a 25 dollar per week raise in February? And all I have to do is make a token attempt at getting a job? Hells yes!

Hey now, some of us need our beauty sleep.

Also, dreaming is fun. My sleep dreams are a whole lot more crazy than my daydreams.

Sleep fuckin' rocks.

Fuck you guys, this is a thread for people that hate sleep.

Also, I never remember my dreams, so there's that.

It is depressing when you lose your job before completing the last few months of a 5 year apprenticeship and can't find any way to actually finish it because no one else is taking nearly qualified people on for a year or more. Also I only get £50 a week. Which is shit.

Also it's boring as fuck, so much so I have felt genuine depression for the first time in my life this year, becuase there's nothing to do all day every day to occupy my time.

So I sleep and don't dream, and don't get paid and feel like I've just wasted the last 5 years of my life and it's shit.

So yeah, fuck sleep and fuck unemployment!

Man, here--what do you usually do when you aren't working? Do you chill with friends? Do you play video games? Do you, like, go and work out? Go hiking?

Do that shit, but do it MORE because you don't have to WORK.

Seriously, I've never understood how people can be bored without work. Sure it takes like a few weeks to adjust, but there is just so much shit to do in this world, and not a whole lot of it even requires money.

I have, since losing my job, beaten Dragon Age three times (and each time was amazing, I want to do a fourth one soonish), beaten Assassin's Creed, went through the Wild ARMs games that I bought in depression when my ex broke up with me but never had time to play, started replaying FFX (due to an RP I am in right now), I'm planning a trip across the country in February, I have begun baking cookies like twice a week, I cook more and eat better for it, spend more time on the forums... and I really need to text Stacy (ex-coworker) and see if she wants to hang out sometime.

She stopped messaging me shortly after she was told she'd be fired if she testified at my unemployment insurance hearing. I think she thinks I'm pissed at her or something, 'cause she said she would, but I'm totally not.

Anyway, point being--I don't know how long you've been fired, and yeah the wasted apprenticeship kinda sucks (can you pick that up at any time, or does it have to be five years in a row), but you can TOTALLY fill all that time with things that are better than working.

I wish I could say it only steals six from me. My body and mind absolutely demand eight hours and I will suffer the consequences if I don't get exactly eight. Though sometimes I can sneak by with 7.75, but never multiple nights in a row.

Ah what the heck, count me in too.

I don't care for sleep in a sense, but I can't go without it. Without sleep, I am very prone to acting wonky & doing stupid stuff. Unfortunately, I also rarely get a great night sleep. (I just usually don't make it a whole night, despite generally hitting the sheets @ 9:30pm every night.)

The only great thing I can say about my sleep is that it has always been 100% dream free. Some people might like their dreams, but I know if I had any they'd be of a traumatic nature. So I'm glad I don't have any.

Nah, we don't need to promote sleep when the flouride in your water will knock you out for hours at a time. Why go for propaganda when you can do it with mad rad-killing unicorn motorcycles?

Also it could have been a non-socialist book. PS. It wasn't Utopian and Scientific

What about the people with badass biology that are immune to fluoride?

See, that's how they get you. By pretending they're not socialist.

I don't have too many problems with sleep specifically, its getting to sleep that annoys the hell out of me. It takes like an hour of waiting in bed (normally playing DS or some hand held) before I can finally dose off.

There are some danger to sleep though, http://www.healblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/insomnia.jpg.

Actually, if you try to go without sleep eventually you'll hit a point where, without outside intervention, you'll go to sleep.

If someone deliberately keeps you awake past this point, then you die.

Tested on dogs!

Krylo

MMORPGs can also keep you awake past that point, apparently.

There was that korean dude who went and killed himself after however many days straight playing in an internet cafe.

Fuck sleep. I'll tell you why.

So basically, I have to work this weekend. This means I have to go to bed around tennish just to get up at five am without feeling totally like shit. This also means I'm going to miss my saturday night adult swim marathon (at least I'm planning on recording Bleach. Dunno if it's new episodes or not, but I don't care.) I also have to go to work on my FUCKING BIRTHDAY. AND IF I DON'T I GET FIRED! FUCK YOU HEARTHSIDE FOODS!

But yeah, I get what you guys are saying. So much shit you wanna do, but you have to waste six to nine hours of it doing nothing but lie on your back, unconscious.

I do enjoy the unconsciousness part, but that's like saying you hate having sex with your uncle, but you enjoy the sex part.

P.S. For the record, I am heterosexual, and do not like any of my uncles, sexually or familial-y.

I enjoy being asleep. It's peaceful...and I feel all snuggly and warm when I'm underneath my covers! :3

...Sorry, that was flamboyant, wasn't it?

Oh no, don't get the wrong idea here, it's not like I need to work in order to feel like my life is complete or anything, I'll complain about the fact that I have to work as much as any sane person, but going for a year with nothing to do but get up, waste time on the internet for a bit, play a few games, watch some tv, whatever, it starts to get REALLY fucking boring. I can only play games for so many hours of so many days each week, and without a steady income it's not like I can go out and buy new games or whatever every week. And I can't hang out with friends every day either, because they actually HAVE lives, yano? Hoestly, being unemployed for long enough gets seriously boring and depressing.

Did you know if you don't sleep you will DIE. I read that in a book.

Don't you go crazy first though? Pretty sure there's some insanity before death there.

You need to start living it up Krogo. Life only last so long, and there's only so many chances to walk around without pants.

I have a must wear pants type job.

Plus earlier I just realized my winter cloths made me look like the 4th doctor so I'm living it up on whole more awesomeness scale!

This being the jolly season, I haven't actually had time to sleep the last 36 hours. But I'm still with you: Sleep is a waste of time. I want to suck the marrow out of every moment of life, and sleep gets in the way of that. I hope there's those rest pod things in the future like in Chrono Trigger, where you get rested up and revitalized in a jiffy. So what if you're still hungry, that's why there's a sack of bacteria absorbing ambient nutrients where your stomach used to be.

(I also don't want to waste time eating.)
