I have a cup of hot chocolate, a Doctor Who episode open in one tab, a Junjou Romantica episode open in another tab, I'm breezin' through Final Fantasy X like it's nobodies business, and I just know that today is going to be fucking awesome.

Anyone else enjoying the hell out of today?

They even made that song about Yesterday that's how good day it was.

But listenning Grateful Dead is making this day better than yesterday already, even though I got free pizza yesterday! Crazy!

Oh, and I got Chistmast present! Wohoo!

I got up at 14:30 which is way too late.
Luckily I didn't have problems starting a fire in my stove. Then I had Dinner (Pizza) and I threw a piece of coal into my stove so I have it warm. I'm currently enjoying decent temperature in my room. All in all, today is pretty decent. Yesterday was better, though

Today is a day full of cleaning and preparing; this sounds mundane, but it is still a splendid day, for it is the precursor to the two full days of an awesome LAN party. Monday and Tuesday will be even more splendid.

How depressing.

I'm going to clean, take a walk, and then get started on an exercise program. I will feel pretty good and accomplished by the time I go to bed.

I don't need to justify my actions to myself. That in itself is pretty awesome. Did about thirty to forty minutes of walking today, though, just because me and the sun had to hang out for a while. Besides, just because I haven't cleaned yet doesn't mean I won't!

How douchebaggerrific.

I'm going to check my hair, put on my coat, and get on a bus to a friend's house where I'll have a nice communal dinner prepared by me and friends. I will probably have a drink of the infused vodka I made over the last week with them and have a great time. I will feel pretty good and accomplished by the time I go to bed.

I've played Diablo 2 all day. Running back and forth through the game for about five hours straight, killing monsters nonstop, and not gained a single experience point because a) my level is way too high for medium difficulty and b) I've still managed to die hundreds of times. Almost done with this tricky son of a bitch five part challenge. . .hooray for Median (http://modsbylaz.hugelaser.com/).

Outside is a desolate wasteland of cold, dark and snow. It's impractical, but pretty in a way. I'm going to watch some Qi and laugh and marvel at the wonders of the world. And by the world I mean Stephen Fry. I'll concur it's a splendid day.

Don't you know that due to peak oil and global warming and 2012 your children will have to eat babies to survive?! But whatever, carpe diem. I hope your clean, shiny floor will prevent the sun from swelling and burning the earth to molecules in a few million years.

I watched football and read some Deadpool comics today, it's pretty much the last day of my vacation, unfortunately, I have a bunch of stuff I have to do the next couple of weeks, for some reason I can't figure out I keep doing it in spite of the highly likely scenario that an asteroid is going to hit the earth and kill us all.

Happy New Years!

I spent the last 24 hours with my friends. We exchanged gifts (I got some homemade Metal Gear figurines :3 ). We played Rock Band 2 for many hours, then set up two HD TVs with two 360s right next to each other and played Left4Dead2 together the rest of the night/morning.

I think it was awesome.

It's nice and frigid outside, it's supposed to be snowy all week here and I don't have to go to work after working earlier today.

Today mostly sucked. I hate when I work concession stand at the movie theater, at least it has finally slowed down from the holy-shit busy it had been since Christmas Eve. But I got to deal with that stress by popping in some Assassin's Creed 2 and face-stabbing random guards.

And hopefully my student loan money while show up soon, I needs the money for rent and bills and oil changes for my shitty car. That would make this week an infinite repayment for the crap of the holidays.

Today is a good day, on top of worky work Projects being finished off or going into cruise control and University classes for Students stopping for the Semester, this has left me with more time to go out and about and generally have more hours to do stuff.

In fact, everyday is a good day! With some being better than others. You know things are going alright when the thing that makes your day bad is when you get the wrong sauce with your food. Ah relativism.

Stick a rug over the door it will keep a lot of cold air from coming in.

P-Sleazy
01-04-2010, 11:36 AM
alternatively, if the leak is not from the bottom, tape some notecards over the edges of the door so that you can still open and close the door like normal without them being torn off. It should help keep the cold air from comming in/warm air leaving. Sure it looks a little odd but it works.

I'm making good progress on a project at work that has been mired in muck for awhile now. Also, migrated a major server with only a few minor problems, so that's neat! Later today I'm going to be having a game night with a few friends and cooking food for the rest of the week.

Things are looking good.

I actually woke up at a decent time this morning and felt great!

I also added a new, much more tactical race to my roster last week in my major project and even figured out how to do a special icon for it. It still has me excited. On top of that, I figured out a great new way to handle my weapon damage that takes a ton of the pain-in-the-ass guesswork out of things. Also last week, but also still has me pumped.

It's also sunny out, my kitty hasn't left my side all day, and I'm generally high on life right now. :D

Personally I'm way more partial to the original D2, but that's only because medianXL isn't really built for people who only play on hardcore mode.

lets see. Couldn't sleep last night and had to get up early for school. so i get up and get ready but because of rain we dont have the internet (at the time)
i drive through rush-hour traffic (turning a 15 minute drive to a 45 minute drive)
drive to school keeping a eye on my low gas (because my sister borrowed my car last night) got to the school and saw no one was there. a teacher was there and told me i don't have school till tomorrow. i drive back in the worst of rush hour making the 15 minute trip in little short of a hour. to get home pass out. no more then 5 minutes after i went to sleep I got a called over to my mom to help her do some stuff around the house Because she broke her foot (dont ask) and getting yelled at for every thing i do wrong in my sleepy state.
get home pass out and got up to see the internet is up. to see this thread and realize I had a good day today.

(By which I mean vanilla D2 is like a racetrack and Median is every other road in the world.)

I actually feel a bit confined when playing median, and I feel very free when playing LOD... I mean sure median has PILES of new content... but they also have torn so much of the old content out of the game its simply not as fun as LOD for me. Example is how they butchered the skill tree instead of adding to it.

Softcore is a nice break... but its not something I like to do more than HC, SC is more like a roadtrip, there's more room to breathe and talk in depth, it's pretty merry and only 1 person out of 5 is worry about anything at any given time. Hardcore is more like powerblading or longboarding, feels like you are literally flying and sharing that experience is just as rewarding, especially when you really feel you have to try your best to watch out for each other.

People who don't enjoy HC probably don't get that feeling, and that's cool.. but when you scrounge around for expendable range weapons like javs and W switch them rapidly during combat, having to micro all your skills, shift+Leftclick paladin charge dodging, when D2 feels like a knife fight and every hit, every fraction of a second of stun feels like it could have been avoided it suddenly brings reason to manual dodging, one of the most fun parts of D2... diving into a room in A2 harem filled with magic arrow skeles ambushing you from every direction... the adrenaline of taking down bosses you remember killing you and your party over and over in softcore... now THAT's fun.

Remember everyone, testosterone is drawn to adrenaline.

And when you are in this adrenaline state and you die? Feels like you just got an uppercut right in the diaphragm. Shit gets real, gains meaning, and srsly isn't for people just wanting to take a break from reality and relax.

Heh, carebears =]

Amake
01-06-2010, 03:48 AM
Yeah, HC is too exciting for me most of the time. It's funny, Hardcore mode D2 and Eve Online are the two games with the worst penalties for player death ever, and I'm playing both of them at the moment. Except I'm playing soft mode in both of them.

And I guess that makes the difference in our perspectives. I think all of the things torn out of vanilla D2 are boring. Median skips the boring skills, the boring monsters and the boring level grind. . . like Hitchcock suggested movies are just real life with the boring parts cut out. But I can see how in HC you'd want the boring monsters at least, the ones that do nothing but walk up and smack you, so you don't die quite as much. :)

Hanuman
01-08-2010, 11:12 AM
Well since I'm HC the two most beautiful classes were skele necro and trapsin... the shadow army was cool but it was exactly like playing a reviver with double cap, trapsin worked more like a cold sorc, on top of that the hits in MXL just don't feel like they connect, yaknow?

Yeah, the boring monsters like in all other games are appealing since it's a great platform to enjoy classic combat with a real-time top-down manual dodging feel where as almost every other RPG lacks that footwork feeling.
But holy shit, the monsters in MXL are pretty tricky!

Fortunately (like, really fortunately, considering the amount of snow and how badly it could have turned out), I came through relatively uninjured. I'm a bit sore here and there, and I twisted my wrist and ankle, but the doctor said I should be good to go back tomorrow as long as I feel up to it.
