View Full Version : THere Are Now Four New Planets - And Pluto Is Still Down-Graded
Four new planets. (http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/11/13/new.planets/index.html)
The individual planets in this planetary family are estimated to be seven to 10 times the mass of Jupiter.
Four new big planets.
NASA's newly discovered planet, Fomalhaut b, is estimated to be roughly three times Jupiter's mass and 10.7 billion miles from its host star, Fomalhaut.
I don't think it'll ever catch on like, Earth, Mercury or Neptune, though. Formalhaut b is such a nerdy name, Mars is going to invade them and take their lunch money for sure.
Oh, and when your planet is 10.7 billion miles away, it's left you. Get over it, Formalhaut.

Um, Seil? That article was from 2008. We've found nearly 100 more since that was put out.
However, 5 new "Hot Jupitors" were found the other day. (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/kepler/news/kepler-5-exoplanets.html)
And one of them is like a giant water world that I think we should send colony subs to.

Dammit, that was probably the story I was looking for. I'd heard about it this morning via radio and thought that... oh well. Stupid Seil is stupid.

We're heading for Aquas?
I guess I'll report in now.

Don't get so excited.
It's probably more of a Manaan.

Hey, space fish are putting me on trial? Count me in.

What a letdown. For fifty-nine words there I was led to believe we'd found four distant gas giants in this system. That'd be quite interesting. I mean, I'm sorry, but who even keeps count of planets orbiting some whole other stars?

Didn't we already decide that Fomalhaut was bad news? (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=24559&highlight=Sauron)

We did. Old news. Seil is stupid. Flare's got the right link in her first post.

Well...going for an Astronomy major. In fact, my next class is a combined Astronomy/Geology class. :P

Astronomy rules... it was terrible the sadness i felt when I realised as a child that I would never be able to visit the stars I was looking up at >.<

Only reason I declared for Physics is so I could enter my university's astronomy program.
