It's about teenagers living in Tokyo. Oh, and the Grim Reaper rides a motorcycle, is a headless chick, and her helmet has cat ears... kinda. Oh, and it's by the same people who did Baccano! First ep is out and it was nice. I look forward to seeing where the show goes.

Fun fact: In the first episode, you can see Baccano playing on a TV in the background.

Are people bloodily chopped into pieces for trivial reasons?

Not in the first episode, but you do see the Grim Reaper use her motorcycle as a melee weapon sorta, and that's pretty radass.

Do you know I've never actually committed myself to an anime series, despite my full-blown love for Japanese videogames and other aspects of Japanese culture?

...yeah, I don't get it either.

Hey... Snake... There's a Persona anime... Not based on one of the existing games, but it's in the same universe as Persona 3 and 4 apparently... Just FYI...

This first episode set up the scene without too much awesome, headless Grim Reaper aside. The opening was in the same style as Baccano, and hopefully the series will be as awesome too.

I'm eagerly awaiting the second episode.

All this talk of Baccano makes me want to retry watching the first episode again. Something tells me this thread is about to eat my life.

damn all of you because I only got halfway through baccano when secrets were being revealed before hulu took it down, and now this show reeks of awesome that i bet i'll also miss the last half of the series.

I honestly stopped reading after this. Like there is anything more you need to know

[edit] scratch that. I just remembered Baccano was based on a series of books, so that statement might not have as much meaning since it was the setting and characters that made it great

Actually, Durarara!! is also based on a series of light novels by the same author.

You do know it's also on the Funimation website, don't you? I mean, unfortunately it's in Japanese with subs, but it's certainly better than not watching it at all.

I could have done something interesting this weekend.

Instead I spent the whole time watching Baccano.

This is your fault.

EDIT: Not to imply that Baccano isn't interesting. Lots of craziness going on in there.

I totally had no idea Baccano! was hosted on funimation's website. Totally going to finish that series now.

I mean it was way over the top but some of the characters are just under developed. It's fun but I wouldn't call it anything special, the only thing that seems to artificially lend credibility to the characterization is all the pseudo-victorian traipsings.

I just want to see what happens honestly, although since I've all ready seen the whole thing with the Rail Tracer I probably saw the peak anyways.

I'll have to check out this new series if I can find it for free somewhere on the great wide intarwebs. Although I doubt crazy motorcycle riding death chick can top Haruhara Haruko.

It's a different medium. Plus there's a lot to hate out there about anime. Or was that just the fans? I sometimes forget.

Try Crunchyroll. (http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime) You can't watch the absolute newest episode free but you can watch up to last weeks episode free. For a couple of bucks a month you can go premium and it slightly better resolutions on some things and the ability to watch episodes something like an hour after they air in Japan.

Edit: Here is a direct link to Durarara. (http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/Durarara)

You have to be a closet anime fan. If you're not sporting hellacious body order and a neckbeard they will never accept you.

Anyone who would self apply a title like "Otaku" probably has some serious social issues.

wait... where am I? I sense impending hate... T_T

Ok this thread wasn't too far back so I just had to Necro it to say if you aren't wathcing Durarara you're a freaking idiot. It definitely taps into the awesomeness of Baccano without being totally batshit insane in the process.

Oh and Isaac and Miria make a guest appearance in the totally awesome way only they can.

Sold!

EDIT: I might be mistaken, but does it look to anyone else like the password used to enter the Dollars' website is "Baccano"?

EDITEDIT: Just finished episode 11. Are they still making more or was that the finale? Because if that was the finale, Imma cut a bitch. Also, Ryugamine is a badass.
