Axe Cop (http://axecop.com/) Site is back in business, folks!

Written by a 5-year old. Drawn by his 29-year old brother.

Better written than 99% of webcomics.

Read it, and revel in the awesome.

That's a novel and terrible navigation system they've got there.

He's right. Even if this comic were as good as it looks, I gave up trying to read it after being unable to get the damn picture to hold still for more than a few seconds.

UNI-MAN FROM ISSUE #5 IS THE FATHER OF UNI-BABY

God this reminds me of when I used to do crazy comics and stories when I was a kid. Knowing that this was written by an actual five year old just makes me smile (as opposed to other webcomics, which are written by people who should really know better).

This is awesome, though the site needs a better way to read the comics.

I love it that the wrestler needs no introduction. He just is a wrestler.

Edit: Ohgodohgodohgodohgod...
From Axe Cop's Twitter:
...you just wait. Bearmageddon will explode your head after I chop it off.
Now we're past Dr McNinja levels of crazy awesome.

I love this. It reminds me of my shitty comics I made as a kid. Only they weren't nearly as good as that.

Fuck yeah.

This is the greatest. IT does indeed seem like a 5 year old wrote it, making it even better.

Acacado-uni soldier is the best god-mode sue ever.

Non-flash version, you pansies. (http://axecop.com/index.php/pagenonflash/episode_1)To be fair to them, it's in a pretty non-obvious spot that is only on the front page.

EDIT: And now it looks like since the combined forces of the internet together found Axe Cop at approximately 11 PM CST last night, and they got linked out the clusterfuck (including Entertainment Weekly's link of the day), it seems to have been nuked off the internet for a bit :(

OMEGA EDIT SUPER!

... Eh-hem. It's been rehosted on the artist's artblog:

Link for temporary Axe Cop (http://eefblogger.blogspot.com/)
WARNING, some mild NSFW content in earlier posts.

Super Mega Alpha Editron 9001:

The guy who draws this? Yeah, he drew and co-wrote a little something else. Something called Jesus Christ: In the Name of the Gun (http://www.badkarmaproductions.com/jc/?p=35). Just though you'd like to know.

What the fuck. And trust me I say that in a good way.

...What is wrong with you people?I don't really understand either. It seems "good" these days is synonymous with "batshit loco", and the thought that this batshit loco is, in fact, the writings of a five-year old gives it some sort of novelty...? I guess?

Then again, this comic was recommended by Mike. I certainly won't lose any sleep not understanding it.

Smarts = Unicorn Magic. See kids, there's a reason to read and all that other learnin' stuff.

Pity it makes you a wuss.

I don't really understand either.

You don't see the glory that is Axe Cop because you're both horrible people.

I don't really understand either. It seems "good" these days is synonymous with "batshit loco", and the thought that this batshit loco is, in fact, the writings of a five-year old gives it some sort of novelty...? I guess?Axe Cop is an example of absurd humor done very right. Most people's 'attempts' at the absurd usually end up being HURP DURP MONKEY CHEESE! and nothing else. Random for the sake of being random. You usually need some serious writing and humor chops to pull off absurd well. Or, apparently, the mind of a child, which can make this kind of thing make sense. Axe Cop has this internal cohesion, an internal logic and story threads that tie it together into a fantastic whole. There's also something about seeing this filtered through the unjaded and infinitely imaginative mind of a five year old that purifies this into distilled reading delight. It also certainly helps that the artist is experienced in this kind of storytelling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_Nicolle) and is very good at rendering his little brother's story, as well.

Really, this is a lot like Dr. McNinja, only more condensed and thrown more to an extreme in storytelling.

It's like Slackerz but without any grounding in reality. And as it was said, from a five-year old mind it has this charming wrongness to it that's all intentional.

It doesn't have me hooked like OOTS or anything but as far as parody/surreal comics it's funny as fuck. Uni-World was hilarious.

Axe cop doesn't love you, I am sorry to say. (http://axecop.com/index.php/ask/read/ask_axe_cop_2/) Although maybe if you're lucky, he'll visit you wearing a cat suit while you sleep.

I mentioned on Twitter that I appreciated the fact that Axe Cop cuts off their heads, with no blood, and their tongues roll out.

The artist messaged me and said he was trying to imagine decapitation according to a 5 year old.

This comic is just getting better and better. I'm glad that I have a chance to follow it from near the beginning.

Magical unicorn horns that arise due to intelligence? That should be the definition of crazy awesome.

See, that's what's awesome, there's an internal logic to the whole thing. Just not one any of us is familiar with.

This makes me want to write a webcomic and make it with tastefully done mixed media, like a really low budget We Are The Strange + Dr. Mac Ninja + Shadowrun + Samurai Jack + PowerThirst x Awesome / human capacity to absorb awesomeness.

But yeah, this is Calvin & Hobbs on crack.

Premmy
02-10-2010, 01:05 AM
Or can predict.

We know if someone get's blood/ genetic material(avocado, Unicorn horn grafting itself to vocado soldier) on them, they will turn into that thing.

Wigmund

That explains why Sockarang grew the crazy hobo beard and eyes after he became Good Bad Santa Sockarang...well, now he's Uni-GBSS...poor unicorn on Snow Planet.

And I want more development of the Wrestler, clearly he is meant for great things.

Also, Axe Cop's pet dino Wexter is just condensed awesome (http://axecop.com/index.php/ask/read/ask_axe_cop_8/).

I resisted the comic until I saw Nobody Scores! recommended it, but then I was blown away. For about two minutes. The novelty wore off quickly and I'm not seeing any other redeeming features. I'm sure this writer will do great things when he grows up, but I'm willing to wait until then.

Now, I'm going to reread Nobody Scores! again. It's a good comic to compare Axe Cop to I think, somewhat similar, but the pictures are more interesting and made to work in synthesis with the words, and BBolt has a method to his madness, a considered and experienced approach to the comics medium which can't help but have a more lasting appeal. Plus there's tons more of it.
