Making things worse is like making them better. Good job, Fighter. (http://www.nuklearpower.com/2010/02/06/episode-1217-the-gift-of-fear/)

And kudos to Fighter for maybe having stalled Chaos for a while while he's trying to come up with something scary but not directly lethal.

You know, I feel like if Fighter were left to his own purposes there, he'd have convinced Chaos out of killing the world, and instead would simply have replaced the sun with the face of a giant laughing clown (and/or the llama), and the moon with that creepy face from Majora's Mask.

Fighter's bizarre train of logic might actually be the key to victory. If Chaos wants to scare people/destroy all of space/time, there won't be anyone or anything left to realize that he has just destroyed everything. He seems to have an ego based on this strip and the last one, so he's only now seeing the problem of "Does it matter how evil my actions are if nobody is around to appreciate them"?
My latest prediction: After several more pages of talking with the Light Warriors, Chaos will decide that the best way to propagate misery and strife and chaos throughout the world is to simply allow the Light Warriors to live and continue leaving carnage in their wake, and he'll just observe it all from some omnipotent viewpoint, every now and then reminding the world "It was I who let them live. I'm responsible for the current shitty world. Mwahaha".
Thus his ego is satisfied, everyone's miserable, and it's still kind of a happy ending because our "heroes" survived. Happy for them I mean, not so much for existence.

See, that makes too much sense though. I'm hoping for something a little more climactic than a life-goes-on ending. And does anyone else get the feeling that this whole "Fighter will save the world with his stupidity" has been a massive red herring?

Well, any plan that the light warriors came up with was going to fail anyway because regardless of whether the plan is good in theory or not, the light warriors are eternally incompetent in execution.
Still, I'm confused why Thief and RM are talking Fighter away. I thought using Fighter to confuse and stupefy Chaoes was the plan.

I'm fairly certain more of Red Mage's plans have succeeded than not. That's not counting the 20+ plans he never attempted.
22 of Red Mage's plans have been successful, while only 13 have failed. Of course, I wrote the list up somewhere around the time they were dicking around with the Dark Warriors and Other Warriors reforming one-another's teams. He may have failed a few more times since then, but probably not the nine times he would need in order to catch up.

Also, I think the absurdity of Chaos/Fomortiis' sprite size tells us that it's pretty unlikely we'll be seeing much more of him, which probably means: A) More Chaos-less comics, B) He'll be dying soon, C) Awkward-looking panels/strips, D) He'll take on some other form.

BOOYA? He is more omnipotent, indestructible, all powerfull "kill every one leaving every one still alive and torture everyone's ass of everyone's face like it was just blinking an eye" then any other bad-guy/villain and all he can say is Booya?
Where are the scary catchphrases?
Chaos just went down 3 tiers in the 1 to 100 scale of scary (he was 100 and now an embarrassing 97)
And why in the unnumbered hells did they stop fighter? Did fighter dumb them down that much with the rooms thing?

It makes sense to stop Fighter when he's challenging Chaos to become more scary; thanks to Fighter Chaos is now 10 or 20 times his original size, and those massive glowing veins or whatever they are aren't exactly screaming "Hugs and bunnies for all".

Objection. We don't know his original size. And given what we know about him, his original size is probably 100 times the sun... or larger...
Just because he shows more of his power, it doesn't mean he's actually becoming stronger.

Exactly. This isn't like when Sarda absorbed the orbs or when he inherited Black Mage's pure evil, there's no real power up here he just looks more intimidating.

No, bigger is always stronger. What happened is that Chaos had to rely on HIS boss to give him more power, a boss that is so weak themselves that they have to surround themselves with less powerful minions to protect them. Haven't you ever watched Power Rangers?

Oh my, I feel faint. It's because of that exclamatory tread title. It led me to believe there was a surprise ending or something. I read the comic trembling at the edge of my seat. It seems hugely important that Chaos transformed that way. . . or maybe it's just my nerves.

I interpereted it as screaming "Free Candy and Hugs" I think thats where you got it wrong.
But if they left Fighter to do his job Chaos would not kill everyone because if he does then they couldnt be scared of him.
Im just waiting until someone asks Chaos can he bring chaos to chaos which will thus impose order on everything meaning he isnt chaos because chaos cant bring order and thus he loses all his chaosy powers.

I don't think it works that way. If you take a room of people, split it in half, cause chaos in one half, and chaos in the other, they won't combine to form an orderly file or anything.
I'm certain Red Mage will find a way out of this through manipulating *cough* character sheets *cough*

Yeah, and Super Sentai and the female variant, the life-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
But those are not Rangers, nor sexy, fighting schoolgirls in miniskirts (except Deborah, maybe). Those are the Light Warriors. And in their world, RPG mechanics (and Brian's bored mind) rule, not the low-budget restrictions of a japanese television franchise.
And in RPGs, bigger is not always stronger. May I point your attention to Zebra-Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts, who may be neither big, nor cool and exspecially not welldressed but can surely kick your ass, if you let him get too close to Sora? (Than again, this is the same game where you get pwned by Winnie the Pooh in one cutscene, so it may not actually count...)

Hmm, I wonder if they could duck in Red Mage's "A-Hole" and hide out from Chaos in there? It would save a lot of worry from our protaganists. Although, this series is probably going to end with a Deus Ex Machina out of friggin' no where. One which will probably continue the series in some way shape or form; Such as Chaos opening the realm of Final Fantasy 2.

That is not what I mean, chaos is by definition the opposite to order, if someone was to bring chaos to chaos itself then the only way would be to bring order to chaos. Thus order - chaos is the same as chaos - chaos

Ah, Kingdom Hearts. That was a game (well, the first one) that I played and played, expecting at each moment that everything would change completely and become worth all the time I was putting into it. The worlds would become vast and detailed instead of cramped and dull. The generic spiky-haired hero would suddenly grow a real backstory and his personality would expand into the 2nd dimension. The Disney characters would all be ripped from their homeworlds and thrown into different ones in situations with other random Disney characters to inspire all sorts of enthralling narratives. There was a brief glimpse of awesome just for a moment when all the big bads were gathered around the viewing pool, and that kept me going. The things I sought were out there. I knew it.
And then... I reached the end of the game. And I wept.

Chaos isn't the embodiment of chaoticness though, he's just named Chaos.
But as he has shown he IS the embodiment of chaos and can put the earth between two planes of eternal pain. A normal guy called chaos cant do that, also what Black Mage was complaining about was the assumption that chaos is inherently evil and order is good.

Now, the main problem with this arguement is that it is not "Just a normal guy named Chaos" But an end game boss. And as we all know; End game bosses have powers going beyond all logic and reasoning. Case and point: FF8's Ultimecia, who completely screwed up an entire time line with her end game boss magic. Not to mention all the possessions and making the Heroes keychain come to life and assult them.

The more comics like this one I see, the more I feel 8-Bit theater is going to have a Nuklear Age-esque style ending. I'm not going to spoil the book by going into detail, but if you've read the book, you may see why I feel this way.

Even though you're mot completly wrong, to the game's defense: It was less of a "Disney meets Square" game than a "Ah, we finished a new RPG--- Hey, let's randomly slap on some Disney Characters for no real reason!" game.
