View Full Version : Robin Hood, Salt And The Lightening Thief
So Sean Bean plays Zeus in the upcoming Lightening Thief (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xko1Mx5w4tg) flick, while Pierce Brosnan plays... Professor X? Didn't there used to be some "Jason And The Argonauts" thing on Teletoon a while back?
Ridley Scott and Russel Crow team up again for Robin Hood, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSqL9ygBCck) which admittedly looks pretty badass. But then again, it could be another Tristan and Isolde - which wasn't bad... it just featured less awesome than what was in the trailer.
Lastly, Wanted. Maybe Tomb Raider? Wait, no - Mr. And Mrs. Smith. My mistake, Salt. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMMjYmgY2KA) Where Angelina Jolie plays some sort of super woman.

So does the thief keep losing weight or...?

I must say i got interested in that Percy Jackson movie. Never heard of it before, but the trailer looked good and the premise fun enough to warrant a watch.
Also, it will take attention from Twilight, so that's good.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that Robin Hood movie before.
I think it was called "Gladiator" or something back then....

Also, I don't see Russel Crow being anywhere near as awesome as Jonas Armstrong.
Don't get me wrong, Russel Crow is awesome in his own rights, but Jonas Armstrong is just amazing.

Or glow brighter and brighter?
(Seriously, one of my pet peeves.)

Ok, yeah... about Robin Hood...... the only time he shows up with a Bow is in the very last few seconds of the trailer.
Calling BS right now.

Yep. For those of you who haven't seen the BBC series, here's a clip from the first (maybe second) episode.

The trailer for the movie makes me think it will be a cut and paste action movie. Also, according to Wikipedia, they are trying to throw in every character known in the series into a few short hours, which is gonna put a drain on character development.
Question - if you make a remake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwvuirSEAA&feature=channel) of a film based on a video game, will you still make a video game tie-in?l (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwvuirSEAA&feature=channel)

Seil, Tron Legacy is going to be a sequel, actually, and not a remake. Also, Tron was not based on a video game (though there was an arcade game based on the movie that came out the same year).

Sorry I killed your joke.
But hey, there's always Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands!

This is the saddest thing I've seen all day.

I hope this new Robin Hood movie isn't some lame "historical" crapfest like that King Arthur movie that came out a few years ago (note: if you're going to make a movie "realistic" don't make it more illogical than the magical legend). I like the new series on BBC and the "old" Kevin Costner movie (though Alan Rickman is the real reason to watch that movie). Heck, I liked the Peter Bergin Robin Hood. He had a mustache!

The Kevin Costner Robin Hood is all the Hood you ever need. The BBC series was ok at first, but then even I lost interest in that one. I don't see this new movie as being an improvement.

What? No love for Errol Flynn's Robin Hood in all his1930's technicolor cheeziness? You people disappoint me. And if any of you tell me you don't know who Errol Flynn is, I'll punch you.
As far as Tron goes, I'm wary about Disney screwing it up. The original isn't exactly my favorite film of all time, but I like it for its campiness. I worry this will just fall into delayed sequel syndrome with better special effects. Daft Punk is supposedly doing the music for the new one, though, so I'l probably go see it and give it points just for that.

My personal favorite, unlike some other Robin Hoods, can actually speak with an English accent.

Just jumping in to let you know that "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" is referred to as "Harry Potter and the Amazing Refrigerator" at my theater. I've only watched the last two minutes, but I'm pretty sure my title is accurate to within .05 titles.

Lightening Thief was a fun little film but a LOT was lost in translation. I'm really excited for the real Perseus because Liam Neeson > Sean Been.

Errol Flynn is too cheesy for today's standards, what with all the Flynning swordfighting and the gay sex with Howard Hughes in the final scene. Wait, that may have just been in the director's cut...in any case, too many convenient chandelier ropes were cut, not only dropping a heavy chandelier on soldiers but also allowing Flynn an escape device. And no, I don't care that this was also used in the Costner film! Because that movie had Alan Rickman!
EDIT: Also The Lightning Thief's trailer annoys me just because of the chick who sees all the natural disasters on the news and goes, "The gods are angry!" WTF, I don't think anyone's been a practicing Roman religionist for 1500 years, little lady, how do you know about this?! It must be explained by a SPOILER or something, but as far as the trailer goes I laugh every time I see it.

That is probably why they are angry.

Well, it seems like they must be procrastinators then. If I were Zeus and the puny mortals quit worshiping me I would've been sending lightning storms a lot sooner than the 21st century. Guy needs to get on the ball.
