View Full Version : Avvy RP VIII: Discussion V - Let's go on a holiday!

Well, I was kind of waiting for some sort of spinning science thing, but it's been a few days so yeah.
Are you still planning on fitting me for a bunch of bigass rockets or did the plan change?
There was a slight change of plans when the Prevention of Dragon Cruelty act was passed last week, that prevents me from turning you into a wicked awesome cyborg capable of warpspeed. Sigh...
Nonsense, I'm sure you just need patient consent!
How about instead we build a giant arm chair and dragon-sized space helmet, that way we can strap the chair on to the rocket-ship and Shyria can ride outside. It would serve no purpose whatsoever and probably slow us down, but we would have a dragon riding on top of our spaceship and that's an opportunity that only comes along once a couple RPs!
Let me get this straight. You want to get into a run of the mill spaceship and have a dragon just sort of tag along, when the alternative is strap rockets to a dragon and ride it into space.
And I can punch any meteors/fighter drones that get too close! FUND IT
If video games have taught me anything, it is that dragons come equipped with homing lasers.

Meanwhile I am trying to think of how to get back in since when I left every functional law of existence that held Overcast together was broken along with The Box. I'm actually rather stumped here, and more often than not will just haphazardly walk through a door later on the line during something important and when asked how he got there respond with the obvious answer,
"I don't know."

As awesome as the idea of riding a rocket propelled dragon into space is, the fact remains that you can't store smaller space vehicles aboard a dragon. Well, you could but it wouldn't be very comfortable for Shyria. Besides, I'm talking about having a dragon riding atop our spaceship(Bolded for emphasis.) as we fly off into battle!
Take a look at the picture in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxKhhMdbU5I). Now substitute the mech for a dragon in the same pose.

Afraid I'll have to veto that bigass battleship plan because if you can create a city sized and fully operational battleship in a matter of hours... well, you can create a city sized and fully operational battleship in a matter of hours.
... Not really a thing a GM should allow.
Hope I didn't come across as too mean in the actual thread.
Nice postin' there, Bard!

We're having a bit of a lull period while we decide what to do next right now, so it's probably a good time to jump in.

We can assume that Bard, having no interaction with the NPF until this adventure, remains untouched by Steel's sucker punch to the time stream. Why does he remember Dr. Ethington though, you ask? I'll figure that out later.

The last time you tried to solve Temporal Terrorism with more Temporal Terrorism, you summoned an Existential Horror!
I mean, really, its already worse.

Yeah, but it's easier to punch Existential Horrors into submission than it is to deal with permanent alterations of the timeline and our characters.

Ah, the NPF spirit remains alive and well I see, despite whatever Steel did to the timeline.
On that subject, I've been thinking about making a brief appearance in the game, but I'd like to check with Arhra (or IC if he still reads this?) first to make sure such a post would be alright. Not sure if I'll actually make the post, but I'd like to get permission before I really give it any thought.
So, uh, do you mind?

Sorry about taking so long to make a response to the unholy hybrid, Arha. I've had a hectic week trying to find to new job. Of course, that's no excuse for my not writing anything last week...
Anyway, I promise I'll have a post up tomorrow-ish. That is unless somebody happens to call me up tomorrow morning and offer me money to wave a sign around on the side of a road for six hours. Cuz, I really need the money for comic books and vehicle payments and other stuff. And don't you dare you suggest I do something ridiculous like "type up a post after I get done looking like an idiot"! My feet will be far too tired by the end of it and, as you all know, I type with feet instead of my hands.

PyrosNine
03-27-2010, 10:10 PM
Name: Pyros "Science" Nine
Job: Fire God of Science!
Sex: Elam.
Appearance: A man with wild red hair wearing yellow sunshades, and a blue jacket with bright yellow highlights, matched by his blue and yellow gloves, and workboots. Because lab coats are for little girls with daddy issues.
Abilities:
PyrosKinesis: He's a fire god, what do you expect?
God of Rawr: Pyros is really, really strong.
SpeedTech: Most of what Ethington could do in terms of science, Pyros can do as well.
Android: He has an Android phone instead of an Iphone. No difference in functionality, except he finds it easier to use.
Equipment: Scan and Loot guns still in possession.
History:
Pyros Nine is very historical, and has been here longer than most everyone on some level. To wit, Pyros has punched out several different personifications of Cthulu, summoned unholy pop culture references from the past, and GM'ed at least twice. He's also an Earth Psynergist who is lazily recuperating from an tough battle with a blue haired weirdo instead of updating.

Since Nin's been affected the recent temporal disturbance as well, I'm going to use that as an excuse to jump on the character sheet band-wagon.
Name: Sir Thomas Ninjemys Intern, aka Gentleman Nin, aka that charming shelled jerkwad.
Occupation: Gentleman Scientist of Anthropology
Sex: Oh my, so unrefined. If you must know, it is Gentlemale.
Appearance: A 5'4" tall bipedal turtle dressed in an orange shirt, dark brown slacks and coat, and a top hat.
Abilities:
Chivalry: This Nin abides by a higher standard of conduct. He tries his best to behave in a respectful and courteous manner, to put a lady's needs before his own, and beat the holy hell out of those who would dare harm an innocent.
Cane fighting: He's extremely well adept at using a walking stick or something of the same size and shape to pummel uncouth individuals. He usually uses his cosmic battery in place of cane.
Motorbike Kung fu: He is a much better driver than the previous Nin and can even use his scooter to fight.
Turtle-ish-ness: Nin still has all the strengths and weakness of a turtle.
Equipment: Same, minus the smoke bombs and the chains. Also, the cigarettes have been replaced by a box of tobacco and a pipe.
History: Gentleman Nin shares much of the same history as the past version, except that instead of training in the way of the Miyagi ninja he was taken under the wing of a proper English gentlewoman and trained to become a refined individual as part of a bet.

I hope someone will get the reference in my inexplicable return post!
Pyros and his talk of Jail made me change my initial idea for a return post and make one that didn't help anyone. Which, I suppose, is how I was doing it before I stopped playing anyway so it makes me consistent, if nothing else. But that's important! Or so I've been told.
Teal's current costume was inspired by these (http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/7992/gabranthghisbergandraceuj2.jpg) various (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090414223730/finalfantasy/images/3/31/Winged_Judge.png) characters. (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20061025014345/finalfantasy/images/6/60/Ffta-cid.jpg)
It doesn't do anything other then clink.
Edit: Oh, I think I might have taken some of the intensity out of the scene. Well! Sorry kiddies. I'll do better eventually.

I wanna jump back into the game, but I'm kind of lost. Are we still in Dr. Ethington's lab??? I'm gonna have to do a bit of re-reading here.
Teal Mage
03-29-2010, 08:13 PM
I'm not sure where you are Mauve, because last I checked I think you were throwing fireballs at a robot from a bank of smoke. Or something like that.
Anyway, Pyros, Arhra II, AB and me seem to be in front of the lab. Arhra I's leading a shopping trip that has been far more successful than the Cursed Avvie's attempt (containing Overcast, Bard and Steel). Arhra III's with Nin on a motorbike going to the POS building. And Arhra V's in the vanished Dr. Ethington's lab with Shyria and, uhm, that might be it right now.
Things have gotten pretty confused though, what with Steel creating a giant time paradox. Still, I hope this clears things up a little Mauve.
Arhra
04-01-2010, 05:30 AM
And I just made it worse.
I had a lovely idea for a subplot based off how some recent events could be used. I think a few people might be able to see the shape of things to come, given a city that can at least take off and hover (yet no-one knows it can), sorceresses, meddling with time and, eventually, going into space.
The numbering of this Avvy was very fortunate really.
Who'd be enough of an idiot to create a machine that copies Steel's brainwaves anyway?
And three can play at this newfangled character sheet game!
Name: Arhra II (With Fury)
Occupation: Boss
Gender: Boss (Female)
Appearance: She's an evil sorceress who is a major enemy. Take a guess. Some resemblance to Arhra. Prone to eerie movements, swaying and leaving after images. Possible allergy to opening eyes.
Abilities:
Angry Chaos Sorcery: The power to defy reality and the anger to spam it is not a healthy combination. It tends to involve warped versions of the traditional elements. Also sharp things, spheres, smoke, jagged edges, remote operation, spinning, cracks, turbulence, hazes, breaking, things that act like other things and red, the angriest of colours. As a sorceress, what Arhra II can do is clearly somehow better than the regular, crappy magic everyone else uses. Somehow...
Chaos Wings of Wrath: Manifested wings composed of chaotic energy and pure angry. Exact proportion uncertain. Spiky. There are lots of uses for shapechanging wings that are nearly indestructible and can hold a ludicrously sharp edge. Most involve opening cans or killing people. Sometimes both at once - it is a very versatile power.
History: Probably kind of evil for reasons that are very poorly explained. Presumably furious.
Weakness: Narcolepsy.
Name: Arhra + (Two Roman Numerals (That's 'VI' Or Six For Those Of You Paying Attention At Home) Or Maybe Something Different To Spice Things Up A Little. I'm Open To Suggestions Here.)
Occupation: Complication
Appearance: Being Arhra, Arhra has an uncanny resemblance to herself. Looking less like herself than usual, her colouration is inverted, having black skin and white hair - almost like a dark elf with the ears filed off. She would not appreciate this being pointed out to her: Arhra hates elves. She also shares with elves a slim, boyish figure and the conviction that she is always in the right. Her hair is short and unkempt, and she's dressed in a basic sleevess top and cargo pants.
Abilities:
Trait Theft: Arhra is totally the best at ripping people off. The best! She can temporarily steal abilities or other qualities off people. A certain degree of 'give it back'-itude helps in getting them back. There's a tendency for voluntarily returned abilities to show a temporary power boost once Arhra's finished tinkering with them. Possibly to convince anyone to let her do it in the first place. She can steal multiple things at once, her limit determined by the combined magnitude of the things.
General Theft: She also has light fingers!
Void With Eyes: Arhra's body is... weird. It's close to being a blank slate and strangely malleable, ready to change based on abilities she 'borrows'. Physically weaker and frailer than the other Arhras, this individual makes up for it with reflexes that are like a greased ninja made of lightning who is on fire.
Magical Roguish Sort: Her magic has specialised into general thievish things (including unobtrusively carrying a ton of stuff) and techniques related to her currently stolen abilties, thus neatly explaining any discrepancy between how they're supposed to work.
History: Time paradoxes are the worst. There is a worrying correlation between temporal anomalies and Arhra numbers in the wild. For context's sake, Arhra fell into a time hole back in POS's tournament (Avvy 5 - which may or may not have ever happened depending on your personal opinion), and has been turning up ever since.
Weakness: Completely disposable.
I have to admit that new addition is a little indulgent of me. Ah well, might not be long for this world.
To summarise the situation, we're regrouping to rest up and prepare for the final push on the Valker base. Which unfortunately is in space.
Shyria is getting retrofit for space combat. Pyros was helping but got sidetracked by confrontations, so only Arhra V's working on that right now.
We might be able to fly the entire NPF into space as a result of meddling Steel did, enabled by crazy powerup pills of anger. Some dungeon delving to reach the control center would be involved.
AB was attacked by Arhra II, who has transitioned from 'possibly an evil sorceress, maybe' to 'definitely an evil sorceress, probably' for some reason. She popped up to steal the Fury pills off AB... and just succeeded. Pyros and Teal are also at the scene of the crime - just outside the lab. She has decided she doesn't like them. Or likes their screams. It's hard to tell.
Arhra IV (dragon) and Arhra III (angry minion) have combined into one person for miscellaneous benefits (including me finally reducing my numbers), being referred to as Gestalt Arhra and travelling with Nin in search of new costumes, as fusion hijinks ruined both theirs. A mysterious newcomer appeared for some reason. This is probably Steel or Pyros' fault.
Overcast, Steel, Bard and Arhra I (the healer) are out shopping for food, so we can have a lovely picnic lunch.

Further evidence that Teal and Pyros have far too much in common for their own good!
I swear I didn't mean to copy him when I first made my character.
For those who wonder, that's, maybe, the fifth version of that post I thought of. The others were either too helpful (attacking Arhra II!) or too godmoddy for me to feel good about - I felt that copying Dr. Ethington (poorly!) and trying to force Shyria and Arhra V to obey the principle of plot gravity was the best medium.
As for the description of Arhra IX, I did some thread digging in the cursed Avvie to find it, just so everyone else would know what she looked like - in the event Pyros brought her back. For those who can't remember what Dr. Ethington's costume looked like, I also dug around for that last night. It includes:
1x Platinum Labcoat.
1x Hot Pink Top
1x Khaki Pants.
2x Black (High Heeled) Synthetic Boots.
2x Black (Leather) Gloves.
I took some liberties on the gloves and boots. Mostly because I didn't want to be a total copy and they weren't as specific as I'd like in Pyros' bio. Powerwise, Teal still does everything he did before, but it will be more thematically SCIENCE!
PyrosNine
04-02-2010, 08:04 PM
Just you wait! I will not take this copying sitting down...well, since we're on a forums, I guess I will, unless I wanna be uncomfortable or something, but you'll learn that while I can't hire lawyer ninjas, my squad of elite lawyer pirates will figure something out!
The real interesting thing was that the original appearance of Arhra IX was Pyros trying to mess with Arhra, but now there's Pyros, and IX at the same time!
Who knows if this will lend credit to my prophecy of Swordsman Arhra and Sexy Chupacabra Arhra!

Let's just say, for hypothetical reasons, that if Pyros was mad at you, there'd be a giant 'thing' of 'something' coming and you wouldn't know when or where or whence it came. And it would be coming irregardless of medium, irregardless of the reason long past, and by the time it was even brought up again, there'd be a quick wondering and then some research as to why it was brought up again, and then somebody would read this post.
So, hello Future Arhra!

I felt it important to call attention to Arhra II's suspiciously lawful spell, since she's a Chaos Mage in her original bio, that must mean the Fury's allowed her to be so Chaotic, its actually orderly! Which might, oddly enough, diminish her powers.
Nah.
Oh, Pyros? I know my post pokes fun at you, but its not personal! Really! I'm just getting everything I can out of my Ethington gig while I have it. But this is definately Steel's fault, oh yes, most definately.
To summarize the actions Nin put there (I wish he'd based them in relation to mine, so I could visualize it more effectively), he appeared on a tower, attacked Arhra II with smoke bombs, gave a bunch of titles, threw catnip at Pyros, then jumped from the intern-bombs to attack Arhra II with weighted chains.

Also, America, as to the frenchman Baudrillard in his book "America", not unlike another frenchman who wrote "Letters from an American Farmer", is a glorious two dimensional stage ruled by style over substance, where meaning is removed from places and goals and done just for the image.

Why seek the truth? It is much easier to shut your eyes and live out your days in ignorance. The only thing found when attempting to find the truth, is OBLIVION.

PS: I've somehow ended up with a very dangerous role in this story. Details tomorrow!

Trust me, no one likes that color.
Except maybe Nin, but for different reasons, as he's a turtle.

Don't worry Mauve, if Arhra can pull out a previous iteration of herself on a whim, so can I!
....how is that supposed to make me feel less worried about getting killed?? XD

Wow, such activity. 'Tis wonderful.
Muuuch less time tonight than I'd expected so a post chunk that is not connected to anything much at all.
Tomorrow, the secret room stuff! And maybe the main battle.

Also, this clearly means that the only way to achieve true peace and defeat Arhra's despair and evil is to make pizza for everyone.
But sadly, while Dr. Ethington (the real one) was a master Pizzacrafter, Pyros is a toasted sandwich kind of guy. And Pyros likes to burn things.
If only someone could fix the fractured timeline in time for the defeat of Arhra II and before the invaders come, who would likely also be swayed from war and fury with a hot piece of pizza pie.

So, I was originally going to take the role of the lovely Quistis Trepe. But a few days ago, Arhra told me that thanks to my ill conceived plan to defeat a Sorceress by slapping a bracelet on her, I'm Rinoa. So! I started crying. After I got over it, I realized something that made everything better. I've got-!

Any of you who know how the game goes will realize how small a consolation that is, really.
Now then, you probably guessed that I decided not to use the idea Pyros gave me. Everything I thought of was a lot less interesting then the class change approach; best I could do was a couple joke lines. So, I suppose I ought to justify what I did instead:
Everyone's on the roof, standing very close to Arhra II. Even if the Meteor didn't hit them, it'd probably smash the roof they were standing on, and the last time someone (Mauve) fell off a roof they, uh, died. Besides, I'm not sure if II's even killable in this scene, but if she is, a straight-out-not-meteor-team-attack's probably the best approach. I mean, she'll probably find a way to cheat anyway, but at least this way she doesn't have a huge rock to do it with.
That said, I'm aware of my low, low, success rate here. (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showpost.php?p=1038440&postcount=59)
By the way, if any of you were wondering about how my spell looked, think a cross between this (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090404034239/finalfantasy/images/5/5e/Holyja_Ultima.jpg) and this. (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091213022016/finalfantasy/images/6/68/FFIX_Holy.png)
Hm, I wonder if I should update my bio.

You fool! The strongest Ultima based attack blows all such efforts out of the water, and Arhra has cleverly defeated much of its fury by having all Arhra's be of the female body, but it would still hurt nonetheless!
Only a lucky few have bore witness to such almighty fury, and those torn asunder by it's power never fully recovered.
All cower before the mighty power of the ULTIMA-DISRESPECT. Gods, Kings, and Samurai Pizza Cats.
Alas, I can't find a good link back to the glory days of kicks to the crotch comedy over frivolous prinnies.

.....I died? When did that happen? Or was that just another way of saying "at that point I think Mauve stopped playing for like two months?" :D
Or did someone rescue me? Cuz I vaguely remember something involving a rooftop on several occasions in this game, but I don't recall actually dying.

I don't think you did?
Mac healed you after you made a big deal of hitting the ground (I think!). So, my mistake, you were only mostly dead. If something's all the way dead, they're gone forever! Ask Aerith- Oh, wait, you can't.
You really might want to learn that Float spell, by the way.

Mauve's not dead, as she's never died before and we feel she has no need to start now.
If she fell, there happened to be a stack of pillows on display as an avant garde art show, and the pillows were really really big, thick, and fluffy, and the only damage she took was that her hat is now a little crooked.

Also, this clearly means that the only way to achieve true peace and defeat Arhra's despair and evil is to make pizza for everyone.

Much better than killing everyone and never stopping!
While I think of it, I spotted this when I was doing a little thread diving:
"Huh, it did all that without a power source?" Steel was suddenly very glad he'd stopped off to order pizza before fighting. He drew on his british power of understatement: "That's kinda weird."
He stepped down into the crater, holding up his pizza box balanced on one hand and drawing his sword with the other. He prodded the remains carefully, trying not to get to close. Not getting a reaction he stepped back and over to Hawk, eyeing Pyros to make sure his pizza was out of his reach.
Man loves his pizza!
And since you asked so nicely Pyros, in here, groins are endangered. (http://nuklearforums.com/showpost.php?p=366898&postcount=46)

So, uh, yeah. Very eclectic post. I'd like to have said something to Pyros too, but, god, it was already way too eclectic for its own good. Was hoping some of you would start talking to one another, but no!
You know, when everyone's just shouting things randomly on a roof, it isn't very conversation conductive. Address people! Other than me, since I seem to have found myself in a conversation with Bard. He's so nice.
Oh, and remember to add some kind of hook in your dialogue for other people to work off of. Otherwise, conversations die like dead things.

So, AB, when you say green robe, do you mean wizard one-piece that covers everything, or more along the lines of a house coat? I'm also assuming the body suit is really more of a one piece bathing suit than anything else.
Just want to be clear here!
Edit:
Screw it, I just posted with what I knew. Its long because I had a couple conversations to cover!
Oh, uh, AB? If you want to use the Rinoa thing as a Cosplay, I'd recommend using her gunblade (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081214192631/finalfantasy/images/5/58/Vanishing_Star_by_montyoum.jpg), the Vanishing Star. While I'd prefer if you didn't copy the white wings, that's really up to you. Rinoa is a Sorceress, so cosplaying her probably involves that, a cutter, magic and a dog.
I looked up AB's original profile to figure out what the C.W.S (I refuse to use the name he gave it) is. Four gems in the gauntlets and boots.

Armored can't really adopt that as a cosplay. Now that's just her original attire instead of what she normally wears. So, like it or not, she won't have a gunblade or dog.
And Armored wouldn't really cosplay as a known character to begin with. Not her style.

In the event that Pyros becomes Fury dragon food, I just want everyone to know, that my only regret is that I could not punch Teal for doing everything I normally do in this RP, including being Asheth.
I'll just say, that punching a raging dragon in the tail seemed like a good idea at the time, and I'm sure we're all not too proud to say that we've all felt the urge and secretly wished to do so. Like playing Dane Cook recordings at the actual Dane Cook and to find out if he finds himself funny.

And yet another costume change on my part! Totally original for once.
I promise to return the clothes to Bishoujo and Steel respectively once the battle ends, entirely unaltered. I'd like to apologize to Arhra as well; I liked the idea I got from Steel's cape too much to pass up - sorry about ruining VI's thievery plans. Orange actually doesn't go that well with green, but the white helps soften it, and I think I divided it well enough to make it work.
Costume Break Down:
x1 Green Overrobe, trimmed in white.
x1 White Leotard, decorated with orange vine prints.
x1 Orange Frilly Skirt, extending to her knees.
x1 Orange Scarf, long, billow and thin.
x1 White Cloth Belt, tied at her waist.
x2 White Thigh-High Stockings, skin tight.
x2 White Leather Boots, platted with gold.
x2 Orange Cloth Gloves, backed with gold plates.
...my, that really is complicated! It was hard to describe, but fun to think up.
Edit: I, erm, totally missed VI's offer in-character. Added a small address to it in my post, but its basically, "Rose didn't hear her!"
