View Full Version : These funny people aren't funny.

Some of these might be gone from the spotlight, while others are still just going around... those people that are shown as "funny" but just.... aren't.
Let's talk about the unfunny!
Tracy Morgan... sometimes he works on 30'rock. On anything else? No.
Adam Sandler... never worked.
i think i can add pretty much half the SNL group in this too

Oh, man, there's a million of these people. Will Ferrel is never funny, for instance. Chris Tucker was never funny. That movie Superbad wasn't funny. I just equate everyone in that movie together as not being funny since the movie just wasn't funny, why did everyone think that movie was funny? I didn't chuckle once.
Actually, one question: are we talking about people who aren't funny as in they are actual comedians who aren't funny, or the movies they are in may have lots of funny jokes and situations but as far as the actual star he or she isn't actually funny? Cause I think Adam Sandler has been in funny movies but Adam Sandler himself is probably not the reason...kind of hard to differentiate, I guess...
EDIT: Ben Stiller is also not funny. Wes Anderson's movies are not funny.

Edit: Actually, Magus, Superbad was funny. Might want to edit your post now that you'd got some correct info.

Gabriel Iglesias.
Dude's hi-LARIOUS.
Edit:
But Bizarro Gabriel Iglesias is'nt

It's amazing how easy it is to mix those two up despite Iglesias being Hispanic. I guess fat trumps race in my mind as an easier categorizational tool or something.
I wish I could understand which part of Superbad was funny, I think there is some secret here I am missing. I just simply did not laugh at a single thing in that movie. I'm not sure if Judd Apatow was involved in Observe and Report but that is like the only Seth Rogen movie I've found to be funny, as well.

Ralphie may does
"Adventures in da' Hood" bits and
"Bitches, Amirite?" bits
Gabriel Iglesias does
" Fat JOKES!" bits and
"Funny shit that happened to me, with sound effects" bits.

I find Dane Cook funny occasionally, but only when it's been a while since I've seen his stuff.
I also didn't find Superbad funny at all.
Three people come to mind(other than Mencia):
Seth Rogan
Sarah Silverman
Kevin James (his stand-up)
Seconding Sarah Silverman, nothing about her show appeals to me. The Sasha show goes along with it, and shows of that whole "stupid and morally vacant" thing that has been catching on doesn't make me laugh, it just irks me and makes me wish someone with common sense would slap these people around.
I saw one or two episodes of the Sarah Silverman show, and those were funny, so I guess you guys are wrong again!

Dude's less funny than Bob Saget trying to do family stuff.
(Of course the opposite end of the spectrum is Bob Saget doing stand-up.)
And Sarah Silverman holds a special special place in my heart so bugger all ya haters right in the bugger-hole.

I'm going to throw out there that I only hate Sarah Silverman because I saw the commercials for her show and it looked about as unfunny as you can possibly get without it reaching lethal levels. I've never actually even seen her show.
If it actually is funny, well, egg on my face I guess.

I like his stand-up simply because it's so similar to Hedberg. I like his show because he actually writes really good skits - admittedly when he does stand-up, he occasionally seems to lose his train of thought, or he tries too hard to get the audience to imagine the situation he's talking about, but it looks like when he can put these ideas into a script, it turns out really well.

I don't remember Mitch Hedberg doing sketches or drawing on a tablet or playing instruments or whatever...comparison seems off. Wish Hedberg were still alive, but I say that about a lot of comedians/comedy actors who've died off...

Foreign stereotype incarnates travel about America and pretend to make people feel awkward by saying rude things about penises and/or jews. I mean, that's kind of like saying you don't get the humor of someone slipping on pudding or something, the appeal is pretty obvious. Unless he also does stand up in which case I had no idea he actually had personality outside of his characters.

Seth McFarlene
I mean at one point a long long time ago I had one or two funny jokes, then he made 3 series, a couple movies, some specials with the same joke. Then eventually tried to replace just going Republicans are dumb and bad amirite? Again and again and again...
There are a lot of things wrong and unfunny about Seth McFarlene but calling republicans dumb is never not funny.

you know, even if Sarah Silverman's show was the most hilarious thing on the planet I'd still hate it because she, or atleast her character, represents everything I hate about human beings. Of course its not funny on top of that. Thus one of those few things that I not only ignore, but find its very existance an insult to the human race
Another show that falls into that catagory is Tim and Eric. I honestly do not see any appeal of it. Only skit I liked was the one where they were beating each other to death, I didn't think it was funny, I just liked seeing them hit in the face repeatedly

I don't know ANYONE who likes Tim and Eric, I think they're banging the president of Adult Swim something fierce, cause I have no idea how they get five seasons, and Moral Orel gets cut down and cancelled.

Back when I was in 'Tech School,' people were watching it completely drunk out of their minds and laughing at everything. So I think that's the point, watch it drunk/stoned out of your mind and it magically turns funny.

Never been drunk or stoned before, and I agree with you. I had no idea what was going on when I was 'watching' it, and by that I mean I was on my laptop in that room, because it was the only place I could pick up the wi-fi signal. It was... horrible, my eyes were in pain.

Will Ferrel
Sean William Scott
Steve Karrel
Jim Carrey (dude was funny once, not anymore)
Michael Bay (Yeah hes a action director but jebus Transformers 2 should have been Scary Movie 5: featuring the cast of Transformers, all of the attempts at humor in that movie killed it)

40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Napoleon Dynamite... none funny.
Will Ferrel, Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Keenan Thompson and most of the SNL cast, none of them are funny either.
Most stuff on Adult Swim isn't funny. 12 Ounce Mouse, Super Jail, Squidbillies, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Drinky The Crow, they should trash all this mess and go back to square one. Thankfully 12 Ounce Mouse and Drinky The Crow doesnt air much anymore, but Tim and Eric and Squidbillies won't stop. Not to mention, why doesn't Kevin Smith have enough sense to do Clerks The Animated Series on there? I'm sick of reruns, I want new eps! That show was awesome!
Family Guy isn't funny anymore. The Family Guy movie was trash. The Cleveland Show is occasionally funny. Never liked American Dad.

entertainment should not require such a thing. I can appreciate something for what it is as long as its done well. Whatever it was trying for, all it succeeded in doing was sounding like they just recorded a bunch of people smoking pot. It sucks because its bad, and I said you were grasping for straws for trying to find some way it doesn't. I know good surrealism, dont care for it, but can appreciate it. In my opinion, it is not good

I just think Will tries too hard, that's all. Its almost like he demands you laugh at his jokes, and doesn't just let them be funny on their own. I think Tracy Morgan is nearing that level too.
I may have seen 12 Ounce Mouse with the wrong mindset. TBH, I don't care. I've seen every episode at least twice because Adult Swim needs better programming and everyone knows it. It's what time when it came on? I'm about to go to sleep, I don't care what it's aiming for. It's on a block of funny shows, such as The Boondocks and Robot Chicken. Sure, they require some thought but I never drew parallels to stuff I never heard of. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I say it sucks and I'm glad it's off the air. They need to bring Stroker & Hoop back.
