Pretty sad that the villains are more sympathetic heroes than the protagonists of this comic. (http://www.nuklearpower.com/2010/03/20/episode-1224-a-legend-is-born/)

Also, I laughed at the bit on the right.
So is this the last comic, or do we get a couple more epilogue strips?

For some reason, I can't help but think this just might be White Mage's imagination, and nobody has hailed a hero yet. Also, for some reason I feel we're being set up for another battle with Chaos.
Y'know, end bosses always have at least 2 forms. But more increasingly, they've got 3.

If this is indeed the Last One, my favorite part would be that one of the final jokes is yet another "Definitely not <theactualthing>" joke. Also, I just noticed this now: Is Bikke wearing his hook in the article?
Anyways, this is what a Dark Very Real Light Warriors theme park should have:
-A Garland-themed kiddie section
-A monster petting zoo
-The Claw: The standard water ride
-A poetry theatre
-The Marilith: The Medusa
-The Krakenoid: The crazy water ride; good risk of spinal damage
-It's a Scurvy World: It is a boat ride located in the Final Fantasyland area of the parks. The ride features 300 brightly costumed audio-animatronic dolls in the style of pirates, frolicking in a spirit of oranges, and singing the ride's title track, which has a theme of the colour orange.
-The Forest Imp: The scariest ride in the park
Also, the restaurant would be called "The Temple of Friends" or "Four Losers, Burgers, and Booze...rs".

Garland and Drizz'l hailed as the world's saviors? Hurray!
Oh, and White Mage is incorrect. Black Mage and Red Mage managed to bring out Chaos into the world. While this is in fact a bad thing, it allowed him to be destroyed by the White Warriors. So technically, the White Warriors just showed up and stole their spotlight, and they wouldn't have saved the world if it wasn't for the Light Warriors. Furthermore, most of the destruction caused by the Light Warriors was due to Sarda sending them all over the world rather than outright killing them. He created a Stable Time Loop that continually allows the Light Warriors to wreak havoc. Thus, Sarda and the White Warriors were the true antagonists, the Dark Warriors are the designated villains and heroes, and the Light Warriors' true alliance is up to interpretation (Except for Red Mage, who is Lawful Amazing), though they are the protagonists.

I wonder if Evil Princess Sara will show up again. Maybe epilogue... maybe that's why King Steve's not on the throne... dun dun dun!
Both WM's group and BM/Fighter/Thief/RM stink at picking groups for chaos-related things. Thief coulda picked the warriors they stole the weapons from, WM coulda picked them as well, or her group. But as long as it didn't affect Chaos's being beaten, who can complain?

The hilarious part of the comic is how much it makes you realize that the Dark Warriors really do deserve this. Despite their intentions to do harm, they've mastered the culinary arts, sheltered animals and attempted to work for the Cornerian government. And they haven't hurt anyone since they got together.
This has to be the part where Princess Sara's plans come to fruition though. It was too weird and awkward for her to just give up being evil after she was saved.
Dark Warriors could also now kill the Light Warriors because they're all higher level now too.
But why is Drizz'l so embarrassed in that photo?

You know, White Mage, if you force a group of adventurers to pursue your goals and combat the forces of evil, even against their will and kidnapping and forcing them to do so, rather than simply doing the work yourself, you don't get to complain when they want to take credit for the one thing you actually did yourself. The one thing you wouldn't have been able to do without their actions in the first place.

I have to say, why didn't WM just make her own 4 white mage group be the heroes in the paper? Why set up some other people?
Is it just because the 4WM party 'will never work' as BM so succinctly put it, so no one would believe them?
Still, I find WM's use of deceit to be rather unlike her.

I guess exactly that's the point. In a world where guys like Steve are kings, nobody would seriously believe that a group consisting of four kind-hearted people, led by a girl would be able to achieve anything. No, it'd rather be the shady, weird guys in the armor, pirate-cosplay and darkelf attire, featuring vampire-fangs.

Well, we are talking about a dark elf who tried to take the crown from some gold lusting pro-dwarven-genocide king, a legendary knight known for his kindness, a boy loved by his parents who follows the rules, and a sailor who killed a bunch of pirates with only a few bags of cheetos.
Sounds like a good reputation to me. :)
Anyways, this is what a Dark Very Real Light Warriors theme park should have:

-The Forest Imp: The scariest ride in the park
I'd imagine any boat rides would have server issues regarding the boat maintenance. Also, wouldn't scurvy world have cheetos instead of oranges?
Oh, and White Mage is incorrect. Black Mage and Red Mage managed to bring out Chaos into the world. While this is in fact a bad thing, it allowed him to be destroyed by the White Warriors. Isn't that like saying the bank robbers were the hero because without them, the hostage couldn't be saved? :)
And indeed. Who the real hero is really is up for interpretation. 'The most unlikely of heroes' that Brain kept mentioning can be the Light Warriors, the Dark Warriors who we didn't expect, or the 4 white mages. (Unless Blackbelt suddenly returns to life along with the Other Warriors & the length of string.)
With Fighter toys.
Sounds pointy.

Wouldn't not taking credit for saving the world and giving the spotlight to the DWs also be the ultimate act of LG-ness?
WM seems to be the kind of person who spends her time at parties making sure that everybody else is comfortable and has a drink, so it seems in character for her to make someone shine who has changed for the better and be it through their own incompetence...

Given that this is Brian, who is consistently inconsistent (at least with updates), a big "The End" is gonna appear one or two pages before the final comic.

Nah. Sarda would only read that they saved the world from Chaos. They probably just didn't release the details about Chaos being borm from the skull of a seemingly all powerful super wizard (Though he was admittedly just an insanely powerful super wizard with a really good memory). He would still do everything to get revenge on the Light Warriors, because without being told that it would result in him becoming Chaos and being killed by the Dark Warriors in the past, he wouldn't know to attempt avoiding it in the future. So he probably figured that he killed off the Light Warriors, and that the rest was just unrelated or something. Not to mention his whole "The future can't be changed because it already happened" thing. He probably wouldn't try to avoid it even if he could.

Yeah that really did prove to be his ultimate undoing. In my opinion there were better things Sarda coulda done with his powers than concentrate his whole existance on gaining revenge on the light warriors (or rather not, since garland and his gain are now "the light warriors")
Since The gang got their light warrior status taken away, maybe the plot can twist around and follow the plot of the second final fantasy game. I mean heck if I've learned anything from the videos I've seen on Youtube, Brian gets a ton of money from this thing so I see no reason why he should stop aside from the fact that he might hit a serious case of writers block (or get bored with it whichever comes first)

From what Brian's said in the past this is very much not the case and he has, in fact, rejected multiple project that would have paid well so he'd have the time to keep 8BT going. One of the main problems is that Brian can't legally make money directly from the comic in any way, so realistically I think that leaves ad revenue for the site and donations as sources of income; the former probably doesn't come down to very much and the latter is simply unsteady.
Oh yeah, there's also merchandise, but again it's much easier to legally sell merchandise - and printed collections! - when the characters and stories involved are entirely yours and you don't build your business on the assumption that a multinational corporation won't shut it down for another day. Hence, Warbot and How I Killed Your Master.
Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to see another comic written in the style of 8BT, but if Brian ever does one like that again I think he'd hire an artist.
e: just out of curiosity, which videos are those?

So that the Light Warriors aren't credited for their victory is somewhat contingent for Sarda's destiny: since the Dark Warriors are being acclaimed as the Light Warriors, Onion Kid would know that the Light Warriors apparently didn't survive their encounter with Sarda and thus Sarda would succeed in their endeavour.

I also retain my right to complain about fire mold, regardless of where I choose to build.
She's "a member of a secret cabal of healers"; heavy publicity might be bad for her. Just think if the media starts poking into her past, doing interviews to find out where she learned white magic, digging around in her garbage (you know how creepy media nuts can get); her secret cabal might not be so secret anymore.
Hmmm, her secret cabal is "foretold to mend the world after a great evil has swept across its surface and laid waste the works of man". Is that just referring to the Light Warriors, or is something worse still coming?

FFXIV is square-enix's next online rpg for final fantasy
P.S. I want my $100 bucks.
Edit: 8 bit isn't over yet until the curtain comes down on the stage.
When I say I bet -$100, I mean you owe me if I lose.

What could be worse than the LWs? Also, where did you get that quote?

More like if you bet -100 you are already paying the person out beforehand so it still stands. It's free money :p

Y'know, end bosses always have at least 2 forms. But more increasingly, they've got 3.
The Final Boss of Okami had 5 different stages, not just your silly 2!

Sarda, Chaos. Two forms present and accounted for. No, what's missing is a Necron.

End Boss = Orbbed Up Sarda
One-Winged Angel (Neo Exdeath variety) = Super Double Evil Sarda
Cloud of Darkness/Zeromus/Necron = Chaos*
*Granted, Chaos was at least mentioned a few times (like once or twice a real year) as opposed to Necron who may have been originally intended to be implied to possibly exist or not exist in some line of dialogue that was cut according to some essay I may have read on GameFaqs.
EDIT: However, I am still waiting for Chaos to allow them to choose the form of the Destructor.

Personally,I don't think WM's "revenge" would work,seeing as how all the LW but Fighter are delusional,evil,or both.And to be truthful,Fighter was the only one of them considered a hero.Then again,he was gullible enough to trust a physical embodiment of evil{BM}

I'd have to argue with WM about complaining rights. What if the fire mold migrates? Or some gets stuck on the bottom of a traveler's shoes? Or if BM's hadoken misses the village but blasts the fire mold on it? And don't get me started on the issue of keeping them as pets.
Brian, see what harm you are causing to these innocent forum-threads by continuing to delay the comics? They are already freakin' talking about Mold Migration-rights now!!!!
(Just kidding. Don't hurt me.)

Am I cool or lame because I read Neni's post as "Mold Megatron-Rights."
The former surely.

If fire mold gets on a traveler's shoes, they are then on fire too. I don't think they'll be making it back to any villages.

Or what if Red Mage tries crafting a fire mold armor and keeps casting Life 3 on himself?

No, what's missing is a Necron.
You mean, like, a Warhammer 40K necron? Maybe a Necron lord? Perhaps Lich reappears as one. God, that'd be awesome. And then a company of grey knights, lead by a librarian enter the fight, and exorcise black mage.
...
Ok, obviously you don't but it'd still be cool. Certainly cooler than fire mold.

You know, a funny as this comic was, I think I'm more disturbed that the ramblings of a mad king were RIGHT...Everyone is laughing at the joke, but that means that King. Steve. knows. how. the. universe. works. Does that not mean he wields the power of the sardaos!? (Sarda/chaos for those who thought I just mispelled sarda)

I don't think so but who knows. Feels like there's an epilogue of one or two more episodes in it, not much more than that though.
I think once we hit the last episode Brian would at least make a blog entry about it anyway.

This really needs to be addressed in the forums rules or something because not enough people seem to realize this.

I can imagine the epilogue being a single page with "AND SO, THE VERY REAL LIGHT WARRIOR THEME PARK WAS THE BEST THEME PARK EVER"
Fighter could run one of the rides! Or he could hand out peanuts! The possibilities are endless!

He would probably keep casting Life on himself until everyone was full. But it's a great idea.
