I was fortunate enough to be able to be playing for the Northern Iowa Panthers in the Pep Band as they brought in the biggest upset of the NCAA tournament, and took out #1 seed of #1 seeds, Kansas.

Let this thread be the NCAA thread.
I'm actually a student at KU so yes, you did indeed "break my bracket".
Needless to say I was disappointed by the outcome. I started watching the game with the mind that I'd join in for the Rock Chalk chant at the end, but that wasn't to be the case.

I am just hoping that this will help my buckeyes get to the final four. They are still having a tough game with GT though.:sweatdrop

...I watched the end of that UNI game live.
It was pretty freakin' amazing. (Though nearly ruined by a series of exceptionally bullshit calls by the refs in the minute or so before Farokhmanesh hit that crazy three-pointer.)
You're one lucky guy to seen it live, Fenris.

Seems like the year for upsets with Old Dominion beating Notre Dame, Ohio beating Georgetown, and Murray beating Vanderbelt on top of the UNI victory.
I'm just glad I stayed out of the March Madness this year, my wallet would be decisively empty.

It's okay, we broke my bracket too.

Ali's shot was about 30 feet directly in front of me, since I was on the floor with the band.
Oh my effing god. Yeah, I screamed and jumped and all that wonderful wonderful stuff. When they fouled him later, I vocally announced, "They just picked the wrong guy to foul."
Sorry Khy, but this is history in the making for my school. I can't help but feel excited. What a great game.

Who the hell watches basketb....
Eh, forget it.

Don't forget about Villanova almost losing to Robert Morris. I was rooting for RMU hard. That would have been another major upset. This tourney has been nuts!
And Fenris, is there room on the bandwagon for one more? :D I almost never pay attention to the NCAA, but this is a made-for-tv movie in the making.
[Edit] And you know there's some bubbly office tech out there, filling out her bracket not because she has any interest, just because it's the thing to do. "Hmm, Kansas is boring. *scratch* Georgetown? I don't know where that is. *scratch*"

Yes there is- we need all the support we can get man. It was frankly intimidating being in OK city on Saturday. The Jayhawks practically bought out the whole town. Never seen so much blue in my life.

With A&M knocked out by Purdue, I am forced to resort to rooting for Baylor.
They're a feel-good story, though, so I'm fine with that.

lol, it's all good stuff. I would still have preferred to see my Jayhawks take it all, but it wasn't to be this year. We can still claim Big 12 champs, but it somehow doesn't make up for it.
Also, we can totally Blue Out a stadium when we want to. Ask any KU student, guaranteed that they own at least three blue KU T-shirts, (not counting any Muck Fizzou shirts)

Oh Villanova, why did you have to go and lose? I didn't even get to have my bracket broken by N Iowa because of you.

Oh c'mon, no mention of the Maryland/Michigan St game? The last twenty minutes were like your classic sports movie comebacks, only this time with a downer ending twist. Maryland comes up from behind and with less than 10 seconds on the clock finally take the lead.
Then this happened. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rf3E9NpGyo) I live in Michigan. My house went NUTS.

You know.
There was this one time KU choked in the 2010 NCAA tournament.
You see, Sherron Collins, the team carry, was trying too hard to make up for the fact that his support DPS (the twins, X, ...Reed? XD) weren't quite getting enough in. For all of the matches before, the tank, Aldrich, was really hit and miss. The support caster (Morningstar) was really only kept around this season because while he ended up dead a lot, he occasionally killed off one or two of the other guys, giving KU the advantage in that team fight.
Point is, basketball is like League of Legends/Dota/whatever, KU was having a shitty year and was lucky to get that far with as messed up as they were playing (Ugh, Aldrich may get every rebound in the history of rebounds but that fucker has no control of the ball).
Nice try to Sherron for being the only genuinely amazing player on the team while everyone else was only sort of amazing for a fraction of each game. GG, universe.

I am looking forward to a potential OSU-MSU matchup in the Elite 8. Though you cannot underestimate Northern Iowa and certainly not Tennessee. Here's to awaiting more great college basketball in the next two weekends.

Duke should fall soon! I hope...otherwise they ruin more things for my bracket. Buncha Jerks if they do. Just like UNI, they screwed everything up...damn panthers thinkin there so big by completely outplaying Kansas, who gave them the right!!!!! I guess I'll have to cheer for them though now/
Heh, look whose braket the Panthers didn't break... (http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2010/03/23/autistic-teen-has-perfect-ncaa-bracket/)
How is your bracket for the NCAA Men's basketball tournament looking right now? Lots of red ink (or "Xs," or whatever you do to signify a missed game), I presume? Well, you obviously didn't fill it out the way Alex Herrmann did.
ShareHis secret, as you can see from the video below, is that he loves the numbers. As a person living with autism, he apparently studied numbers so much that he found the winning combination, at least to this point.
"I'm good at math," Alex told NBC Chicago. "I'm kind of good at math and at stats I see on TV during the game."
Northern Iowa over Kansas? Check. Ohio over Georgetown? You bet. Mr. Herrmann hit every single game and has a perfect Sweet 16. His apparent affinity for all things numerical along with some luck -- after all, there were a few close calls in the first 48 games, no -- has him in position to make a historic run among the massive amount of people who fill out a bracket religiously each March. You'd think he's destined to see things fall apart soon (he has Purdue winning it all), but I don't know anyone who has picked every game correctly thus far. Why doubt him now?

Butler, however, did bust his bracket.

I've got Baylor winning the whole thing. I'm very happy I chose them as the winners BEFORE I found out that they haven't won a game in the NCAA in over 50 years.

Thank you for making it personal. I really appreciate it. Talk about kicking a man while he's down.

Boo this man.
Ah well, we had a record-setting run. And our bench is deep enough that I doubt the nation has seen the last of the Panthers in the next few years.
It was a good game.

Woohoo! I have 2 in the final four! Butler and WVU! After that none of the others are left on my bracket.
I find it funny that the number 1 seed everyone questioned about being deserving of #1 Duke is the only one left!
