So the other night I'm on the redeye back to vegas from some cesspool in the midwest. (I think it was Minneapolis but who cares?) And there's a couple of kids seated behind me that might be of legal drinking age, although that fact is most certainly debatable.

Anyways, they've somehow managed to procure some tiny bottles of booze which, judging by their tinyness would have been insufficient to the task of giving a grown man the drunk, but managed the job quite admirably on these two mooks. As I read my Robert Ludlum suspense novel under the pale, artificial light of a single aging bulb they would randomly shout incomprehensibly at, presumably, no one in particular.

My annoyance simmered as such for approximately 3 hours until, at long last, we landed in Vegas. This, of course, sent the "Billy's First Whiskey Bottle" duo into a rapturous, drunken fit of exclamatories. I was looking forward to extricating myself from the plane with haste however, so were the drunky bros.

Being at the back of the plane their mad dash for hookers and blow was impeded by the throngs of other passengers who, as airline passengers are wont to do, went about the business of slowly milling about in the aisles until the walkway was connected and the doors were opened.

This enraged the hapless duo, who had made designs to rush the exit. Their frustrations were such that they began to verbally harass the man standing immediately in their path. Now I was about 1 seat up from where this altercation was simmering, and as I patiently awaited my turn to exit the sound of drunken beligerence filled my ears, until at last the strain of prolonged flight, sleep deprivation and annoying teenagers was too much to bear.

I rose from my cramped seat, politely asked the old women sitting next to me to allow me into the aisle and walked over to the altercation.

I said calmly, but firmly "Hey, you two. Shut the fuck up, you're giving me a fucking headache."

Of course this could have gone one of several ways, they might have entered a drunken rage and assaulted me, might have talked more and worsened my headache or might have pulled a makeshit plastic gun from their shoes, however it would seem providence was on my side as the two hung their heads in shame and sat back down.

I suppose the fact that I had a good 6 inches and 50 pounds on either of them might have been a contributing factor, but one can never tell.

Eventually we all exited the plane and found our ways home, I know not what became of the two drunken jackasses, but I did not see them again after that confrontation.
