Woo, the forums proper are back. Great job, guys!
Was told to post here if we see any bugs, so...
I'm missing the image that forms the yellow box around my name. Also, the little Deadpool emoticon that was in my status.
I'm looking for the files on my computer now. If you want to look for them in the server files, the forum code says they were stored at:
http://forum.nuklearpower.com/picture.php?albumid=67&pictureid=186
and
http://forum.nuklearpower.com/picture.php?albumid=67&pictureid=187
Edit: Deadpool emoticon (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2383368/th__deadpool__by_Ugghhzilla.gif) and yellow box (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2383368/dptext.png)

The images are stored on Brian's server and are not locally accessible. Also any forum.nuklearpower.com link is kinda useless. :B

Thought as much. Continuing to search my local files for the yellow box.
Edit: found it. (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2383368/dptext.png)

The whole forums look weird. All the images are wrong. This depresses me. The banner is also gone. This isn't a bug. But it definitely looks weird.

I have the box back! Thank you.
Hm, the other icon doesn't seem to be working, even though I see you changed the code.

Viridis: fixed.
If anyone has the other icons and stuff we used to use, please link and provide. I would like to get us far away from this horrifying awfulness we're currently at.

Here are Lev's custom background and sparkle.gif. Can't not have that.

Lev should be sorted out now.

Hey guys, this is really great and way faster than i thought it would be! Great to be back home.
Quick heads up i don't know i this is on my end or not... all the Thread buttons and "Send a message via X" icons have white jags around them. I clicked in a bunch of places and options and everything else seems ok
Meister
04-17-2010, 02:19 PM
Yeah, they're all designed to work with a different background colour. Gonna fire up Photoshop real quick and fix the most glaringly obvious ones.
These are rather more images than I anticipated. Gonna have to pick a more economic approach here.

So hey! Thanks for getting this place up and running :D
One question: I have avatars and info-boxes on the left, when I'd rather have them at the top. Is this something that can be changed by user preference?
shiney
04-17-2010, 02:23 PM
I don't believe so. Meister is giving this a test run to see how it works out. If it sucks we'll shitcan it but it streamlines things a little bit more.
That said -- I am outta here for now. If anything horrifying goes on or explodes Brian knows how to get ahold of me. Catch you all on the flip side.

Actually I think I've read of a way to do it! Give us a bit of time to get the basic stuff sorted out and we'll look into it.

I'd been meaning to save all the atom symbols before the wipe, but I never got around to doing so. If you need buttons or other graphics made, I can handle it if you like, provided a bit of free time.
Edit: I DO have the old 8-Bit logo in both original and improved (transparent BG) forms if you want them, but I think this might actually be a good time to think up something new.

You're gonna want to update the links in your sig, bluesy. We'll worry about the images ourselves for just now but there might be a competition in the future to make a new imageset for icons and whatnot as NPF is more related to all Brian's works now, rather than 8bit exclusively.
On that note, when you GIS nuklear power, it comes up with Robo as the first two returns. I think that speaks volumes for B-Clev!

It's worth mentioning: The "Forgot your password" thing doesn't work. It directs you over to the "HEY WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING HERE" forum page.

I -can- get all the icons by the way, with a bit of time. Here's one for now.

Here's an aesthetic issue: users with long names expand the DIV. Squeeb is the first example of this I noticed, but I know there are others with long handles like Bard who are going to really make the lines irregular.

Hrm. The wayback machine is being weird today, just incredibly laggy, but I can grab the rest soon as it gets back into gear.
Almost found all the image addresses, through some cache-searching.

Alright. And since Internet Archive is being crazy slow, I'm going to start uploading them to my own site, if that's cool?
Meister
04-17-2010, 03:18 PM
Absolutely. If you want to be really thorough about it you can pop 'em in a zip file and attach it.
Meanwhile though I'm gonna look for the thread where we had these images made way, way back - it's a very long shot but maybe there's a complete directory still here somewhere. But do carry on!

Alright, well, I'm gonna grab some lunch while you do that. Haven't eaten all day. XD
Another thing worth noting is that the stylesheet seems a bit messed up for the smileys on the right. Dunno if the More link (And the alt text for the smilies) was always a hard to see white, but figured I'd mention it.

No dice on that thread. I can't even find it.
Don't go to too much trouble over these images - if we can get the thread icons and edit/quote/etc. buttons for now, that's enough. Just so the place isn't a complete eyesore anymore with those jagged white borders. Everything else we'll fix as time passes.

For me, there's a broken image atop next to the thread name, on a link that says 'reload this page'. It's also borken when outside of the threads as well.

So, some special characters aren't showing up correctly in old posts. Like ? being é and I think ellipses are ?€?. I'll find out when I submit this post if it applies to special characters input after the forum came back.
Edit: My accented e turned into a question mark. Neat.

the automatically adjust for DST requires Javascript and you have to visit the main User CP page for this to take effect, as its the only way we could actually think of doing this since it requires reading the time from the client machine.
Not sure if that has any effect on your stuff, Mike? If it's on my end I'll look further into it.

Not sure if that has any effect on your stuff, Mike? If it's on my end I'll look further into it.Yeah, I went in, checked it and confirmed it was to automatically check. Nothing. Set it to always on and back. Nothing. Set it to always off and back. Nothing. So it does need some work still :(
Edit: Okay, it just looks like the server time is an hour fast, as turning DST off makes it the correct time, while it should be on. (I forgot the specifics of how DST worked [durp], and so reread about it. It's a simple fix after all YAY.)
shiney
04-18-2010, 01:56 PM
Well, server clock is [[supposedly]] set to EST, but I'm not sure if DST is currently enabled/in action on the server itself, so I'll check into it later tonight. For now, my car is a shithole, and I aim to take steps to rectify.

I just responded to this thread (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?p=1031696#post1031696) a few minutes ago with this post (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showpost.php?p=1031696&postcount=20). You'll noticed It's about an hour earlier, because I was set at -6 when I should have been at -5, due to Daylights Saving. I've changed the settings already, and it seems to be fine now, but I'll keep that post as it is so you see what I'm talking about.

Susribed threads in the User CP never seem to disappear until "Mark All Forums Read" is hit, regardless of how long they've been marked read. And occasionally threads that were previously marked read in the User CP will suddenly be marked unread without any new posts being made.

Not a bug, but not important enough to have its own thread:
There's no such thing as a Temporarium. Anyone who says otherwise is mad. MAD, I tell you!
However, hypothetically, if there had been a Temporarium, then it hypothetically would've been in phpbb, and would've hypothetically had a number of somewhat-useful features, such as the ability to save drafts or a function that alerts you to new replies being posted in a thread to which you are replying.
Hypothetically, either Meister or Shiney may have offered that some of these features could potentially be implemented on these forums.
So, what's up with that? Neither of them are vital, of course, and not worth too much work, but is there some easy way to implement those features, or others?
