What the hell, Doc Brown. You're above this.
In other news, I notice a distinct lack of "Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland" in the opening post. You've disappointed me.

I am excited about Christopher Lloyd and the black guy who I have seen a lot before but cannot remember his name and the part where there is a mass amount of killing involving spring break douche bags.

Is Christopher Lloyd the guy who intones "THIS PIRANHA HAS BEEN EXTINCT FOR OVER 2 MILLENNIAAAAA!"?

He is? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX1LOdGdiL0)

Well the name could be better. I honestly don't know what to say other then. Why Piranhas? And why name the movie Piranha 3D?l

I'm sorry, but what? Just stay out of the water. If it's really that big of a problem, it's a lake. Dump an bunch of poison in, kill everything, scoop the bodies off the top, neutralize the poison, and go back to hosting college douchebags.
This really isn't all that hard, people.

There have been other Piranha movies but apparently we are ready for a new movie involving Piranha. Also, this MAY be related to the older ones and is the third one in the series, and conveniently coming out in post-Avatar 3D era so it can be made into a 3D movie. There are many reasons why we need a movie about Piranha eating people in 3D, especially in this post-9/11 world.
EDIT: Obviously they'll think of something like that when it's far too late near the end of the movie, Blues, or maybe it'll be opposed by the misguided environmentalist character who is hilariously eaten at some point in the film when it's too late to stop the Piranha.

Like what, when they grow legs and learn how to breathe air?
Actually, that somehow wouldn't surprise me.
They're dinosaur piranha. Obviously they can walk on land.
Obviously.

If you think rapid mutation is outside the scope of this movie's plot THINK AGAIN.
The poison could cause the mutation.
Oddly enough the argument to "just stay out of the water" could apply as far back as Jaws, even though they did have the plot point that they didn't want to ruin the tourist season by admitting there was a shark problem. So in this movie they probably don't want to ruin the tourist season by admitting that thousands of Piranha are eating hundreds of people. Basically if it's a plot hole in such a classic as Jaws I think Piranha 3D can be forgiven for not thinking about it too deeply.

A tremor under the surface of Lake Victoria unleashes scores of prehistoric piranhas, an event which rallies the local sheriff (Shue) who will risk everything to save her townsfolk.
Townsfolk? Really?
And what's Richard Dreyfus doing in this thing?

But in this case, they're clearly admitting there's a problem. It's just the tourists are too stupid to listen. But then one of them gets eaten and shit gets real, so I'm wondering how they're going to pad it to a two-hour movie.

I think Avatar opened the door to the future of movies. The future looks like this:
We get theater movies, huge visual spectacles (3D spectacles may be optional) that take advantage of the size of the screen, the volume, the sound system, in clever cases even the background noise and the fact that you're likely to see the movie only once and not freeze frame or rewind.
On the other hand we get made for home video movies, probably maintaining the level of production value expected of movies today, but made to be watched in the comfort of home: Longer, more in-depth, taking advantage of the spacious BR discs. Possibly they'll even forego the lowest common denominator and try to make movies particularly interesting to a narrow demographic, although I can't think of a compelling reason for that to happen. Maybe people just have more time to watch different movies at home than they do in theaters. I know I spend a lot more time home. . .
Anyway, we'll go to the theaters to give our eyes orgasms and satisfy the reptile brain, and take home movies with deeper meaning that encourage thought. Of course 90% of everything will still be crap, but I'm hopeful.
On topic, well, one thing about the theater movies is that there won't be a lot to say about them. Just like this one.

Yeah, but even more so!
Actually the past is completely lacking big-budget movies made for DVD. I'm hoping this market gap will be filled as people figure out what kinds of movies actually benefit artistically from being played on the big screen and what doesn't.

@Fifth: Indeed.
3D was going to happen to everything, and was already, regardless of how many smurfs native Americans blue people got thrown onto the big screen. This is the expected progression of movies given the years we've been having for quite some time.
3D will become a big deal for a little while, then go away for a little while, back and forth for quite some time, I expect.

yea but they tried the 3D thing a few times over the decades, not like its new technology. I dont think things have changed enough that 3D will catch on now because its basically the same thing

It'll probably gain more foothold once home 3D systems stop being so expensive and don't need glasses anymore. Because I read this article on a TV that you didn't need glasses for for the 3D to work. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/mar/10/3d-television-without-glasses
Basically, it's like those 3D novelty cards and such with the rough surface. Otherwise, the standard seems to be needing electronic glasses that sync up with the refresh rate of the TV and alternate blacking out the vision in each eye in time with the TV displaying the image that that eye is supposed to see.
Still, I have a hard time seeing that taking off quite yet, at least in that form, because:
1. Have you tried to wear 3D glasses over normal glasses? Not fun. Electronic glasses I doubt are any better in this regard.
2. There are still people without HDTVs. They probably won't spring for a 3DTV, and I expect people who just bought into HD will want to go to 3D yet, especially when, currently, there's so little need for it.

Also, when Ving (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWOn1dFmFds) Rhames (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuEwqad6h1c) tells you to get out of the water because of flesh eating devil fish, you either get the fuck out of the water or you get what's coming to you.
Part of the problem with monster movies is that people are either stupid or assholes and they don't listen to the trained professional scientists trying to save their asses.

Oh man, that Marmaduke movie would be so cool if they stayed true to the character.
I mean that honestly, without irony.
This (http://wondermark.com/the-comic-strip-doctor-marmaduke/) is the character in question, of course. Marmaduke as a symbol of the id, as an incarnation of the rape fantasy of Dottie. (The owner-woman.)
It could also be a portrait of Brad Anderson, a man in the advanced stages of Alzhemier's disease, the awful, awfulbrain rot that leaves you gazing into the eyes of a man not hiding any secret abyss, but simply a blank space where his soul used to be. The horror, the horror.
