I love Warbot, and I love the art.
However, I would rather have a new artist if Zack is just too busy. I would hate for Warbot to be discontinued after all the hiatuses and huge lag between updates,

I thought about the same thing too a few days back, but Brian is busy too, so it might still be set back even if we get a new artist. Though I would actually like to see some new comics too.

If everyone is too busy for the comic, it would be nice if they just decided to wrap it up in that case. Warbot losing his job and going to... war!

That would simply not be depressing enough.

What if he got fired, scrapped and recycled as a toaster?

And then he burnt the toast.

Having a comic end abruptly with hope that it may come back is one of the most depressing endings possible.

I think it should be drawn by brian in fingerpaint

That is... pretty brilliant actually.

Brian. Look. Look at this. This is what your fans want from you.

"When you look into the fanbase the fanbase also looks into you." yes?

EDIT: Not that I haven't submitted by own insane demands.

Warbot cannot lose his job and go to war because that would make him happy. He'd be good at war. He'd be valuable to other people in war. So, that's out.

Zack claims he'll have the latest script drawn up by Sunday. I'm not holding my breath though!

Oh please. We all know what would happen.

He finally gets to go to war, he parachutes onto the field, only for it to fail on him and he crashes head first into water, getting stuck in the mud.

I'm sorry, but parachuting a multi-ton heavy weapons support platform onto the field? That would be the single worst application of military equipment in fictional history.

That, and not "integrating" him into office accounting, how?

EDIT: It would also be par for the course for him...

Brian, assuming Zack does indeed get too busy for the comic for real, would you be willing to go with a different artist, or would you simply retire the comic?

Fix'd.

It's what they still occasionally do with tanks, in real life, y'know?
Except in the case of tanks, the parachute is partly used to launch the tank out of the airplane.

Still no new comic in my inbox. Sadness.

All those who are shocked? After a show of hands, no one is really surprised, however the masses believe that Warbot should be sent to knock on the artists door.

I'm cool with it. Mr. Finrock is clearly trying to save us all from horrible pyscological torture.

Ok, those were actually hugely effective. Still, "tying floaties to it" ranks above "putting a parachute on it" on the what-not-to-do-with-your-heavy-equipment scale.

An M551 Sheridan dropped from a Hercules. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNRfCTSov5g) It starts around the 14 seconds.

Hell yeah, they're still dropping loads of shit by parachute. Not usually tanks, but lighter armored vehicles? Artillery pieces? Definetly. Because paratroopers aren't effective enough already, they also need heavy armor.

And besides, if Warbot didn't get dropped by parachute, how'd he get into battle? Walk?

Depends on how you classify it?
The Sheridan was a tank. I'm sure there are still tanks suited for airdropping.
Nowadays, yeah. It's mostly "just" the light armored vehicles and hummers and whatnot.

I guess that's mostly cause tanks aren't really necessary in paratrooper operations. They need LAVs for mobility and support when fighting infantry, and artillery for indirect fire support. They don't really need heavy armor, because really, "traditional" tanks have two roles. Either as a highly-mobile assault force (which really doesn't work well unless it's en-masse, and besides, paratroopers don't need an armored spearhead, they are the spearhead) or as infantry support. But troopers will have LAVs to provide support against infantry, and there's lots of handheld weapons that can kill enemy tanks as effectively as a 120mm gun.

And really, I very much doubt Warbot would be an effective weapon of war. All I can see is him trundling along the battlefield while trying to shoot down a UAV that's zeroing in artillery fire on him until it scores a direct hit.

Parachuting or not, let's talk about the frequency of the comic, hmm?
I really do like the art. It fits the comic wonderfully. However, if Zack is simply too busy I feel it would be best to get a new artist. It would be a shame, I admit, but it would free up his schedule, give the fans new comics, and allow Warbot's misery to continue.

After all, I have turned on a LOT of people to the comic. They all love it, but they stopped reading it and forget about it because of the lack of updates. If the comic is going to be a success it does need to be updated a bit more frequently.

And Gone With the Blastwave doesn't count as a comic that never updates but has a huge following... because it is a statistical outlyer.

I figure Brian must think very highly of Zack's art to consider him so irreplaceable.

I really need to do a "Sorry for being a horrible webcomic artist" post on the main page on Monday WHEN A NEW WARBOT IS UPDATED!!!!!
