I received a very important text telling me that I've been slacking off in my duties and not upholding a time-honored NPF tradition of making the entire RP Forum implode in upon itself in a fury of anger and venom. So to qualify for my paycheck, here we go again.
Some of you older peeps may have heard about a game I'd run every few years called Soldiers of Light. It follows a certain history is pointed out below, and has kind of developed over time. With a lot more new people around, well, here's your chance.
The setting of the RP is a pseudo-Feudal Era Japan. While it has all of the same key points of Feudal Era Japanese culture (Empirical system, samurai and shoguns, ronin, etc), it is not the real Japan. Think Inuyasha with less flashbacks, or Samurai Champloo with poor writing. Anyway, the story is as follows:
Over a thousand years before the current RP takes place, the Demon King Talkatz, Demon of the Seven Elements, decided that he no longer just wanted to rule the underworld and the demons which inhabited it. He wanted to rule the upper world of Humans and Kami as well. So, he and his army of demon soldiers moved into the human world and started to take over. Now, as could be guessed, the humans didn't like that too much. They fought back, but they were greatly unprepared and were already distracted from fighting each other. Enemies refused to work together, alliances were broken when one side became too weak, and in general the demons seemed to be well on their way to taking over the entire country. And they likely would have, had Talkatz's greed for power not done him in.
In the underworld resided a demon blacksmith, chained inside his workshop. He was being punished by committing a great and terrible sin of the underworld: refusing to fight. Normally Talkatz would have had him killed, but the demon was one of the greatest divine sword artisans that the demon world had to offer. As such, the demon king chained him to the forge and forced him to produce weaponry for the army.
One day, a human ronin named Daisuke Tama was wandering the wastelands, searching for any means to destroy the demon interlopers that had invaded his city and killed his lord. In his travels he fell into a deep hole and found one of the entrances into the underworld. He spent months searching and avoiding demons until he came upon the demon swordsmith. In their discussion they came to an agreement. The demon blacksmith would forge a sword of incredible power, the finest he had ever created, and Tama would use it to destroy Talkatz. Then, the human world would be safe, and the demon would be free.
After two years of forging, rune work, and searching for the rare materials needed, it was finished. From a mix of demon forge and human purification magic came the birth of the Raigaki, the Sword of Light. Tama took the sword, and began his crusade to end the tyranny of Talkatz. Along the way, he managed to collect a small group of followers, like anyone with a sword and a dream of saving the world has a tendency to do. When they reached the Demon King's lair, they had been expected. There was a large army of demons waiting for them. The entire army was slaughtered before the might of Tama and his followers. The problem was Talkatz's elite demons, the group known as the Weapon Altmas. They each specialized in a demonic weapon, and to get Tama inside to fight the demon king, his followers sacrificed themselves to destroy the elite demons. Once inside, Tama faced Talkatz in battle, and almost defeated him. Before he could be fully killed, Talkatz separated his soul from his body and escaped. In anger Tama cut the body into pieces, dragging them from the lair to scatter them across the country. He then returned home and hid his sword in a secret place, so that if or when the Demon King returned, the sword would be ready for its new owner to wield it. Well, it's a millenia later, and Talkatz is up to his old tricks again. And Daisuke Kurama, a distant descendent of Tama, is leaving home with an ancient blade at his hip...
A fun twist in this RP is that we have both a Light Side and a Dark Side. Players on the Light Side will be attempting to keep the Demon King from returning, with those on the Dark Side actively working for him.
A person can choose to play a Human, Half-Demon, or Demon. Humans are humans, you are one. Congratulations. While not having any inherently magical ability, humans have learned many forms of combat as well as how to communicate with the Kami; spirits of the elements. If a human wishes to use magic, they at some point have learned how to communicate with the Kami and either befriended them or found ways to exert their will over them. Demons are creatures who usually manifest in one of two ways. They're either created when an element or a concept has become incredibly tainted with corruption in an area (such as water demons forming from polluted rivers or a sword demon manifesting around a sword known for killing the innocent). These demons tend to be aligned with a single concept and have pretty strong power associated with it. The other way is through the mating of two demons, which can create a new demon that usually has a mix of the parents' powers. Half-Demons are individuals made when a human and a demon fall in love/lust/boredom and create a baby. While not as inherently strong as their demonic parent, they are able to manipulate Kami like a human which gives them an edge.
Being a human or a demon doesn't dictate what side you're on. There are demons who don't want the Demon King to return, and humans that are out for power. You can really pick whatever side you want.
Every player also gets two special abilities. Something they can do that the rest of the group probably can't. There are, however, a few restrictions.
Humans: Humans, lacking any inherent magic ability, must call upon Kami in order to use magic. However, humans are also often more resourceful in other ways as well, such as having skills that peak human abilities or are strange gadgets. Such examples may be: Powerful Cleave, Super Strength/Speed, Bomb Rain, Ability to see Demons, Sorcery, etc.
Demons: While humans get diversity, demons get easy access to magic. Demons are able to gain special powers related to their concept, such as a Fire Demon having the special ability to throw balls of flame or a Sword Demon gaining the ability to turn his limbs into blades. While their special skills can be a bit more magical, they're also pretty restricted as a demon's special abilities will have to either come from its weapon or its concept, so the Fire Demon from above likely won't have control over shadows.
Half-Demons: Half-demons get the best of both at weaker levels. A half-demon can claim access to its demon blood for a special skill, but it likely won't be as effective as a full-blood demon of the same type. Just as well, a half-demon is capable of talking to Kami like the humans can, and is able to be much more diverse in its abilities.
Sign-ups are as follows:
Name: (Using Japanese form. The first is your "Family" name, like your last name. The second is "Your" name, your individual name.)
Side: (Light (Working to destroy Talkatz)/Dark (Working FOR Talkatz))
Race: (Human/Demon/Half-Demon.)
Age: (Obvious)
Appearance: (Obvious)
Weapons: (What's he/she packin'?)
Special Skill: (Can he/she split into two? Can he/she shoot arrows tipped with explosives? A robotic arm? Very short distance teleportation? What?)
History: (What did he/she do before joining the team?)
Extra: (Anything else you want to add in.)
As an example, here's an NPC who will show up at some points during the game.
Name: Daisuke Kurama
Side: Good
Race: Human
Age: 23
Appearance: Long black hair that's tied back into a pony tail. Stands about 6'2", with a lean muscular build. Wears standard samurai clothing, but no armor. Wears sandals, and his sword hangs from his left hip. His sword has three runes on it's blade, and it's almost always glowing with a soft light.
Weapons: The Raigaki, an enchanted katana. If a demon even touches it, it will burn them.
Special Skill: Unlike the other characters, Kurama has no inherent special skills. Any skills he has come from the power of the sword. At the beginning of the RP, he has the following:
-Kama: Launches blades of light from his sword.
-Simpo: Kurama jumps high into the air, much higher than a normal human could ever hope to jump. Then, using the momentum of his fall, he points the tip of his sword down and pierces through a target.
-Dangik: Very destructive. Kurama swings downward with his blade, sending a very large, very powerful blast of light energy flying forth.
History: When he was around 5 years old, Kurama saw a ghostly figure. The figure led him to a hidden grotto, and it was there that he found an old rusted piece of metal that had once been a sword. When Kurama picked it up, the sword burned off the rust and shone like the day it first left the forge. After that, his life was dedicated to becoming a strong fighter, so that he could finally defeat the Demon King. Because of this, he didn't have a very eventful life up to this point.

You know I had to return.
Name: Hirasaka Tsubasa
Side: Dark
Race: Demon
Age: Around 400 years old (reckoned to look around 23)
Appearance: Tsubasa stands about 5' 7" with a light skin tone, lifeless red eyes, and a wealth of ghostly white hair that hangs freely until it comes together with a large red hairbow at the knees. She wears a white mini-yukata with a red spider motif, a blood red obi with another large bow on the back, and black armguards and sandals.
Weapons: Monomolecular Wire - a seemingly-inexhaustable length of thin wire that can cleave through flesh and stone with ease.
Chidori - An elegant and sharp wakizashi. Usually wielded by Tsubasa to trick the enemy into believing that she doesn't have any other weapons.
Special Skill
Wire Imprisonment - Tsubasa connects a length of wire between a certain part of a person's body and another point. Movement of the imprisoned limb will cause the wire to cut into it, and too much movement could end up severing the limb completely.
Wire Web Trap - Tsubasa can set up webs of criss-crossing wires between almost any two points. Anyone foolish enough to pass through these is cut into pieces. The sun can reflect off these wires which makes wire webs easy to see in the light, but difficult to see in the dark. Tsubasa can also create single wire traps which can be just as dangerous, merely easier to avoid but harder to detect.
History: Tsubasa has worked for Mizuno Shizuka for as long as she can remember. As a large group of demon and half demon assassins, Talkatz often relies upon them to maintain a certain amount of balance in the underworld by dealing with troublemakers. For centuries, this group of demonic kunoichi have never left the underworld until now. Talkatz has put an order out for the Kurama bloodline and an additional mission to retrieve the Raigaki. Because Tsubasa is one of Shizuka's deadliest and skilled trained killers, she got the mission.
Extra: The other Kimonos will stay out of the story unless you wish them to be present. Otherwise, it's all Tsubasa.
Overcast

Name: Kinjo Ieyasu
Side: Dark
Race: Human
Age: 21
Appearance: Wildly disheveled black hair, uncomfortably pale, with dark sunken sockets holding dark brown eyes. Lithe build that is bordering on gaunt. Stands about 5'3" and typically in a dark blue hakama with white top, his bow strung over his back, his sword hanging off his right hip, his arrows hanging off his left. His right hand is always gloved in anticipation for the use of his bow.
Weapons:
Sokuza: His longbow and most proficient weapon. Standing at 7'3" feet itself, it is relatively easy to maintain and replenish and while not very special he found it doesn't have to be. Not as long as he aims properly.
Menomae: An enchanted katana, and something he typically tries to pull on reflexively. It has a longing desire to always be in its sheath and so when pulled out it will slice with great power due to its indignation before annoyingly returning to the sheath.
Special Skill:
Shurennohayawaza: With amazing speed he can release an accurate shot from his bow to go long distances and strike perfectly on point.
Itsuwaru: While significantly less quick, with the proper arrow he can deflect the shot off of at least one surface in order to complete the shot.
History: Kinjo has for many years feared the inevitability of his own death. It was something that made him a terrible warrior in the frontlines back when he served men, but while he was far away, simply pulling on his bowstring he was unmatched. On one particular battle he had ended the last human standing, plucking away with his bow until his string was shot and his quiver empty, royally beyond help. He watched the hoard descend on him as he let out any quantity of prayers that he could be saved. As it so happened he would be.
But not how he figured.
Talkaz saw potential in the boy, asking him what it would take to allow him to join his army and forsake all of humanity. The answer was relatively easy. They have promised him that if he can get that sword he will be granted the secret to immortality while staying on the mortal plane. A gift that he will do anything to receive. For there is nothing more important than being alive.
Nothing at all.
Extra: Wildly paranoid about everything, and very much a coward. He typically tries to mask his cowardice under excuses that in all honesty seem reasonable. But if you are in his mind you'll see it clearly.

The NPF ain't an NPF without a Soldiers of Light game. The new forum is now officially complete!
I stalked almost all of the original ones, even though I only actually played in one. I'm so gonna sign up for this. Consider this a placeholder.

What the hell. Why not. My typical RP'ing site died while I was away.
Name: Yuiri Kotone
Side: Light. Technically.
Race: Human
Age: 23
Appearance: Short, roughly 5'4". Short brown hair, brown eyes, no facial hair. Green shirt, black pants. Both relatively loose without being baggy. Female.
Weapons: Three foot long metal pole, roughly one inch thick. Unbreakable, and does not transfer energy (Heat, electricity, etc.). Constantly at room temperature.
Special Skill:
- General, simple magic: Small fireballs, bolts of electricity, chunks of rock, etc. (I'm curious how you feel towards general magic use, and I am willing to go into more detail. Let me know how much more detail you'd like, if any)
- Teleportation: Kotone can teleport any distance between 2 and 5 feet. She can do this roughly once every three seconds.
History: Kotone never cared for the life expected of her; she hated kids, and never dreamt of having any of her own. Instead, she desired strength, glory, and all those things most young boys dreamt of. However, forbidden from any sort of training, she never developed the combat skills the boys did as they went through training. Eventually, she ran away, disguising herself as a man and taking up the sword.
Her first battle resulted in her being left in a pool of her own blood, seconds away from dying as she watched her foes leave to celebrate their victory. Furious, she cursed everything she could; if she'd been allowed to train, she wouldn't have been beaten. Had she been trained, she'd have had power. Power.
In what should have been her final moments, a local kami took pity on her; lending its' power to her in exchange for some excitement. Kotone accepted the offer, but took it a step further; soon after accepting the power of the first kami, she dominated it, took all of its' soul and power into herself. This wouldn't be her only time doing this, either; she sought out more kamis, dominating them as she came across them.
This process took its' toll on Kotone, though. By the fifth kami, she had lost most of herself; all that was left was the desire for more power, the desire to be the only one WITH power. As such, Kotone has gained the powers of the kami spirits she came into contact with, but feels the need to prove her power against most people she meets. While she does not go from town to town killing everything that breathes, anyone that shows potential will summarily be attacked by Kotone.
Extra: Really, she's kinda neutral more than anything. She has no interest in helping the cause of killing Telkatz moreso than she's interested in proving herself to be stronger than anyone else in existence, Telkatz included.

Kay.
Name: Yamato Tetsuo
Side: Dark
Race: Human
Age: 29
Appearance: ????
Special Skill: Not sure yet. Either assassination-related stuff, or maybe something information/control related.
History: The legend goes that his ancestor had sworn loyalty to the demon lord at the time of the final clash between the two sides, commanded a contigent of human forces, and was one of the few Dark-side humans to survive said battle. Not to survive it voluntarily, mind you. He was defeated in combat, wounded, left for dead in the Light side's last charge. He came to hours later, aching, wounded horribly, his side defeated, his honor sullied. He had let his side be defeated, had fallen, had failed his lord. Tetsuo's ancestor had been a very fanatical man, very devoted to a cause, and this cause had been, in his eyes, worthy. And so, there it should have ended. His blade had still lain where it had dropped from his fingers and, with some effort, his ancestor had grasped, stood, swung it around until it was pointed at him... paused for a moment, trembled, felt regret, such regret, fear and then determination. The thought that filled his mind as he threw himself on the blade was that, even if his lord was dead, his honor would be saved.
Only it wasn't. The blade shattered, and in the light of the setting sun, the first few rays of moonlight, the fires of the last few torches, reflected in the shards of the blade, his ancestor had seen... something. Something that made him change his mind. Sign? Omen? It was unknown. But he turned from suicide, and knew, knew, that he had to survive, be ready. His lord would return, he had to be ready. Fragments of steel littered the bloodstained ground around him as he turned away, wept at a broken lord, a broken blade. And broken honor too. Because his sword had broken, when his lord had touched him through the failing light and the rising shadows, he hadn't been forgiven. He'd been called, but not forgiven. And he had to answer that call, no matter the cost. Even if it cost him his honor. So he abandoned his name, started going by Yamato, founded a dynasty.
A dynasty wreathed in shadows, that never used swords, that had no honor. But powerful nonetheless, adept at leading, at making deals. They gathered strength, out of sight. One son a generation, each father teaching his heir what had to be done, and how to do it. The line was without honor, their honor had been replaced by devotion to their Lord. If their ancestor had been fanatical, they had ten times his devotion, because honorlessness had festered and their line's shame had been passed on with the family history, and the teachings. So goes the legend. Mostly true, too.
And thus Tetsuo lived, fanatical, in the shadows, learning, first from his teachers, then from his father, then from the world itself, fighting his own, dark battles, gaining power where he could, applying what he knew. No troops to call his own, no sword to fight his battles with, but intigue and betrayal worked perfectly well, strategy and deception replaced fortitude and morale, and daggers could pierce what swords could not. Dark battles, fought in the name of being ready, being prepared. And then, when spies started arriving, and word started coming that a great evil had descended upon the land, a king of demons...
Tetsuo rejoiced. They were honorless. But goddanm, they were prepared.
---------
I'm thinking, could I replace his personal techniques with the ability to call upon his Dynasty's resources? Or could I try to combine the two? What would you allow?
And yeah, there you have it. Chaotic evil, except for in respect to his lord, where he's so lawful, a Paladin would tell him to chill. Fanatic to the point of being insane, but very good at strategy (I'm thinking of having him write the in-game equivalent of "The Art of War") and very, very devious and deceptive.
Does that work?

Can someone think of a name for me? I'm like 95% finished my profile but all the names I come up with sound stupid.
You might have some luck with these name catalogues, I use them a lot. Last Names, (http://surnames.behindthename.com/) and First Names. (http://www.behindthename.com/)
Anyway, uh, I suppose since I'm already posting, I should say this is a placeholder? I've got a character mostly outlined (could be Dark or Light), but I don't want to post it while I'm this tired - I might miss a glaring problem.
They're another magic user. So, unless a lot more people put up mages, that'll be what I play. If magic becomes really popular, I'll figure something else out.
Steel Shadow
05-15-2010, 07:54 AM
Name: Kita Masaru
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 25
Appearance: In a word, scruffy. Slightly taller than average, with dark hair and blue eyes, he wears a perpetual grin on his face, seemingly confident even when the observer knows he has no clue what he's doing. Usually he wears a white kimono with a dark red hakama, which he moves easily in. Masaru also has a nasty looking scar on both sides of his right hand.
Weapons: The Hari No Meiro: A scythe with thousands of hidden blades all along its length, each one a different length and shape, each one retractable in ways that just plain aren't possible without magic, and all just waiting for the strange and almost nonsensical pattern of touches on it's grip to spring them out. Usually carried to look like a regular scythe or a walking staff. Occasionally the top blades of the thing catch alight, adding fire into the deadly storm of steel it already is, but Masaru still hasn't worked out how or why it does that.
Special Skill: Inhuman grace: Despite his bearing, build and personality, Masaru moves like the wind. As long as there's stable ground, he can keep his balance and wield his weapon. As long as he's not too distracted his reflexes are superb. And he's damn fast when he wants to be. He's even constantly improving this ability, since wielding the Hari in any style close to it's true potential without maiming yourself is close to impossible without decades of training, and even now he is still unlocking the mysteries of the weapon, hence more training.
Hami No Meiro Style: Wielding the scythe is hard. Grip it slightly wrong and you'll end up with a face full of needles. The style has been passed down for generation, but is still being improved upon even today, as Masaru discovers new uses for his weapon.
History:
"When it accepts you as its master, it will tell you in blood."
The Hari no meiro has been passed down Masaru's family line for centuries. Some say it is a divine weapon, given to their ancestors by the gods. Some say it was the work of a skilled magician. Most say it was the design of a madman. None the less, the family has passed the scythe down, along with their own unique style for wielding it.
Masaru was trained from a very young age in their family's style, ready for his role as it's inheritor, and he was a natural at it. His grandfather taught him everything he knew about the weapon, and once that training was complete Masaru was quick to learn there was more tricks to the Hami left to discover. Wielding the weapon was instinctive for him, and many a time, while he was deep in battle with whatever force he had decided to fight against this week, did he find some new hold on the scythes grip that unlocked a new blade, or some new use for a blade he'd long thought pointless. ?I wish I'd known that five minuets ago!? became the most common of his battle cries.
Still, he did not discover what his grandfather had meant when he spoke of the Hami accepting him as it's master, until he was in his early 20s, fighting a rather brutal battle against a bigger group of bandits than he'd been expecting. As he fought, he found these powerful men moving far slower than he had expected, their attacks easier to dodge or block than he'd ever seen, despite them actually being stronger than most opponents he fought. He began dispatching them with ease. It was then, in the middle of this battle as he beheaded the bandit's leader, that a blade shot out from the Scythe's grip, stabbing itself through his palm and sticking out the other side.
It was rather unpleasant.
Still while defeating the bandits had suddenly become that much more difficult, the Hami No Meiro had accepted him as it's master, and from that day on it almost felt to Masaru that the weapon was telling him how to use it, what blades to use for what, new techniques that were effective against enemies he'd never seen before, locations he'd never heard of. From that day forward, he and the Hami were almost as one being.
And yet he knew he still had much more to learn. Since then, Masaru has traveled the lands seeking evil to find and destroy, always seeking to improve himself, his mastery of the Hami, and in general, make the world a better place.
Extra: Still kind of debating a few things about the Scythe. It's a divinely blessed weapon, but the blades are breakable with enough force to, y'know, shatter steel. Said blades will replace themselves the next time they're activated, however.

Since it picks up fast, I might as well jump the wagon while there's still place in it.
Name: Akhil San'jay
Side: Dark
Race: Demon
Age: Young looking Adult
Appearance: A huge(18ft long) cobra snake with a pair of weak looking arms growing where its "hood" starts. Looks a bit more like a humanoid thanks to the fact that he moves up-right most of the time(head floating at around 6ft) and wears a simple maroon robe. His scales have a pleasant honey color with ebony lines outlining the eyes and also forming a spiral pattern on his hood and back.
Weapons: Nothing.
Special Skills:
-Hypnotizing Gaze: By looking directly in the enemy eyes San'jay can confuse or distract them. While short lived, the effect usually lasts long enough to launch a vicious bite. Weak minded targets will be distracted for a longer time.
-Venom Fang: He has venom fangs, quite big ones. He also can wrap his mouth around quite big things. Immediate effects include numbed muscles and blurred vision. After an amount of time(24h-48h) based on how deep was the bite and how big and healthy was the subject, heart stops beating and death occurs.
-Venom Spit: Alternatively San'jay can launch a small stream of pressured poison in an attempt to render the enemy blind. If the attack dosen't make it to the enemy eyes, it's pretty much useless. If consumed, spit poison has a laxative effect(it also has no color and a fairly weak smell, so it's easy to mistake with dirty water, or miss it in another drink).
History: He used to be a servant to one of Talkatz's less important subordinates, having a boring life of running errands and kidnapping meals for his master. His superiors died somewhere along the way, so he got a new job.
Extra: He ssspeaksss in a ssspeciffic fashshion. Shasahshasha.

All I've heard about since forever is how "Soldiers of Light is so awesome" and "SoL is sooooo cooooool", so I'm putting in a placeholder.
Funny story, I was halfway through my character named Genkai, based off of AB's namedrop in Tsubasa's profile. Then I realized that AB is a SoL veteran and he probably dropped that name there because it's already taken somehow. So I did some backsearching.
Hey AB, the main character this time around was renamed from Genkai Kurama to Daisuke Kurama, so you might want to change that. And I've got to come up with a new character.
Maybe Daisuke Kurama's long-lost distant cousin or whatever, because I don't want to lose the work I've done so far.

Might as well put up a placeholder myself, although I got to leave for work in a bit.
Name: Keiga Erayo
Side: Light
Race: Demon of Slumber.
Age: 800
Appearance: An utterly pale but healthy looking large figure almost resembling a human bear, whose skin is so incredibly clean of blemish, scars or dirt, you'd figure he never worked a single day. Wears simple clothing and no jewelery or special markings.
Weapons: Brute Force alone.
Special Skill: Demon of Slumber and thus wields magic based on keeping things at neutral or stopped state or in a state of achieved rested state. Such things may include power of sealing (by forced slumber), sleep, weakening, dulling of senses and pain, constant rested state. Foes "killed" by Erayo is induced by eternal sleep.
State of Perpetual Rest: Erayo radiates a powerful invisible aura which effects everything around him. To those who have his favor (as well as himself), their bodies never feel weariness or exhaustion, able to fight as if in their prime even onto the point of death itself, their strength roughly enhanced and their mental state alert as if they had a perfect sleep. To his foes, their strength and thus their physical abilities are sapped and drained and their mental state weary and tired and groggy. The weak in body or mind are put to sleep until some time after his presence have disappeared.
World Be Still: Forcing existance, creation and even magic itself to a sleeping halt, Erayo can seal off magic and energy in an entity or in an area. The magic energies that permete an area or entity do not stir naturally or upon command, and casters find their resources do not flow like they could manage before. When used upon immensely strong beings, it may utterly reduce its effectiveness in a variety of ways such as lengthening casting time, weakening its potency and so on but still leave them able to cast. Natural energy such as fire and lightning will cease to stir and thus go out. Can also be used as a counterspell if focused.
History: *To Be Determined*
Extra: Lazy, almost perpetually bored, just about always yawning.

You can't have a Soldier of Light RP without Jade, so I return!
Name: Akatsuma Jade "Orange Death"
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 25
Appearance: Jade stands at 5'7" and has a slim build. She has black hair and brown eyes, her hair usually left down reaching the middle of her back. She wears standard ninja garb: black pants with mesh, black wrap shirt with mesh underneath, fingerless gloves and ninja sandals. Her swords are sheathed diagonally on her back and across her lower back. She wears light black armor over her clothing. The only hint of color on her is an orange scarf that she wears to conceal her face. While the scarf itself has no magical properties, it seems to as it has been with her for many countless battles and has not torn once.
Weapons: An orange handled Kodachi "Ichi" and a black handled Wakizashi "Nii."
Special Skill: Jade can call upon wind magic. This can manifest itself in many different ways, but she usually uses it to increase her speed and agility to superhuman levels. At her peak she can move fast enough that she appears invisible. She can also use her magic to mask her scent from demons and fire bolts of wind to knock her opponents around.
History: Jade was born into a clan of ninja assassins. She was trained from the time she could walk in the arts of stealth, speed and death. Her clan was one of no allegiances, and just took jobs for money and not political gain. When she became a teenager, she was tested in the ways of her clan and was chosen with a select few to be given the gift of magic. She was taught the ways of the wind kami, her clan shaping her into a deadly fast assassin. As her reputation grew in notoriety, she was given the nickname of "Orange Death," as her victims would only see a blur of her orange scarf before their demises. Her clan does hold one allegiance with honor, they are sworn to help and protect the wielder of the Ragaki. There have been many who have come to the village pretending to be the new hero of light, and all have fallen before the village's test: face their most deadly assassin in combat and survive.

Unless, of course, I can think of something new before then.... Nah, gotta stay lazy for this. MIDTEEEERMS!

I'm thinking, could I replace his personal techniques with the ability to call upon his Dynasty's resources? Or could I try to combine the two? What would you allow? Does that work?
Technically, special skills can mean a wide variety of things for a human, so yeah having large amounts of resources on hand seems like a viable special skill. So long as I don't see an army being requisitioned we should be good. So you're TENTATIVELY approved, until I see the full profile.
Julford: Approved, and you wouldn't be the first time we had a neutral character who liked to switch sides. *coughKrylocough*. And the general magic is approved, so long as you realize that by not specifying a specific magic, your general magic is going to be pretty weak. A fireball to the face is still effective as a fireball to the face, but you're not going to be summoning a vortex of fire like someone else probably can. But otherwise it's good.
Steel Shadow: Looks good to me, though honestly seeing as it's a lot of PvP that'll be going on, everyone has a slight weapon immunity of "not going to break" just because people will get upset if the other team makes their weapon shatter. HOWEVER, someone's special skill may be the ability to shatter a weapon, and the general immunity won't protect you from that.
Nagel: The character itself looks good, except the limit on special skills is technically 2, while your character has three. I was going to be lenient on the speed as demons tend to be physically stronger than humans, but then you said it can move at the speed of sound which seems very specific. So right now he has Super Speed, Hypnotism, AND Venom, and I'm gonna need you to pick two of those in order for me to approve it.
Menarker: Sounds good. Just don't pick on a single person on the Dark Side, as I don't want PMs of "He's making my character ineffective all the time!" Good character, just seems easily abuseable. Approved.
Batgirl: approved, since while your one skill is pretty nice, you made it take up both slots so I'll let you go with it.
Lazy: Approved. Just because you've played the guy before and he's fun to have around.

Name: Osech Sulran
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 38
Appearance: Sulran stands at 6'1?. He is a very muscular man from years training with his weapon of choice. He wears a gray hooded cloak so as to hide his weapon from curios eyes. His hair is brown but slightly graying on the outskirts. His eyes are the color of silver and have a look that would unnerve many.
Weapons: Sulran carries with him a single weapon, it is a revolver modeled after the Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express revolver named Kore Wa Desu (It is death, これ は デス). On-top of the already incredibly large caliber of the Revolver the rounds can very quite a bit from ones that are designed to explode a few seconds after hitting something, throwing shrapnel everywhere, to rounds that are solid slugs.
Special Skill:
Super Human Strength: This is needed to be able to wield his revolver one handed and to handle the recoil.
Dead eye accuracy: Through years of practice Sulran has gained god like accuracy, he can shoot dimes thrown in the air from a hundred meters away. Consequently his eyes seem to have some kind of magical aura about them.
History: At the age of 15 Sulran started his career as a bounty hunter, he wasn't very good at it at first, he always somehow managed to lose his captives on the way back to collecting. But as he grew older his skill grew as well. Soon he was working high level bounties, but no matter what he always bring them in dead, one thing he learned to do while growing up to make sure they couldn't run away. In the 23 years as a bounty hunter he developed great accuracy from long range with his weapon of choice. He inherited Kore Wa Desu when his father was killed by a demon. Sulran does not trust any demon, no matter what side they are on. Though he will begrudgingly fight beside one if he needs to.

Name: Motou Akai
Side: Dark (I'm willing and able to switch this character's side with little effort pre-RP should sides be imbalanced)
Race: Demon of Blood
Age: 214 (Appears to be around 30ish)
Appearance: Motou is extremely vain in his appearance, strangely enough, taking great pride in looking handsome almost all the time. His hair is neat, medium length and dark brown, with black eyes. His skin is slightly tanned and his body, while not appearing to be a body builder is extremely well toned, similar to a distance runner. He wears a crimson cloak, long enough to brush slightly over the ground and to completely conceal his hands from an onlooker, thus hiding his gauntlets. The sword sheath is diagonal on his back, hilt showing over his right shoulder. The hood to his cloak is almost always down to show off his appearance.
Weapons:
Elbow length metal gauntlets with spiked knuckles: They are as stated. These are his usual weapon in smaller engagements and when he wants to watch people suffer.
Great Sword: His weapon for larger engagements. Looks like fairly plain iron except for the blood channel running down the middle to the hilt. Only magic about it is a spell to make it harder to break.
Special Abilities: Motou is a demon of blood. His abilities are based around manipulating his own blood in an offensive and defensive manner.
Blood Spike: His blood by nature is always connected spiritually and magically to his body and is his most lethal weapon. He can shape his blood into two foot long spikes, from wherever they currently are. However the spike in question always goes away from the matter it is sitting on. (If it's on the ground, the spike shoots up. If it's on a person's skin it points away from their body). This can also be used to create rather nasty pointed protrusions from his body.
Bloody Life: Upon consuming blood from anything but himself his body converts it into life energy which is then used to heal and regenerate wounds that he acquires. It can go as far as to reconnect severed limbs though his power isn't great enough to regrow a limb at this point in time.
History: Motou was born in a hospital. Needless to say the hospital wasn't very good or sanitary. At one point in time there was an illness that raced through the patients, killing many. Due to the lack of sterilization practices, the disease remained for years and the hospital would have gone out of business except that it was much less expensive than most other places at the time. He was born from the number of deaths and illnesses that plagued the hospital over the years. It is now completely abandoned, all of the employees found themselves brutally stabbed on the night of his birth. And if the humans lose this war then he will find so many more people to play with. And near immortality from the blood to drink.

Since you say demons are by default physically superior when compared to humans, and you already gave me a finger by mashing both venom skills into one, I guess I'll just drop sub-sound speed attacks.
Though to be honest, my original plan was to group them all in a single skill called "Snake Skills", cause technically, if you simply enlarged a cobra to that size, it'd get all those abilities, and from there it's a matter of demonizing them as the "second skill".
PyrosNine
05-15-2010, 04:56 PM
Name: Nine Senses, Pyros. Err... Pyros. Name Pyros, title "Of the Nine Senses."
Side: Team Kickass. (light)
Race: Half Demon
Age: (25)
Appearance: (If Jesus, Cloud Strife, and Tibarn from Fire Emblem did a tri-fusion-ha!) Wears an almost buddhist priest outfit that is white and brown, while wearing a blue sash over his shoulder and side. Wears an indo-european blade at his side, sheathed, and wears pieces of armor over his left shoulder, right knee, and right arm. Hair is long and brown, eyes are brown, and underneath his clothes and visible up to his neck, are alot of bandages.
...oh, and he has wings.
Weapons: (Pyrosian Masamune: Fairly normal sword aside from being unbreakable, somewhat blunt and unbalanced.)
Special Skill: Pyrokinesis obviously, but also possesses the ability to hone his will into a blade, making it as sharp his will is strong. In essence, this means that with enough willpower, he can cut through anything.
With wings, he can fly, but this really isn't that special of a skill.
History: Was found as an orphan by an old hermit lady high in the mountains, supposedly so high up that if one climbed any higher they would meet God, and raised according to her virtues. One day however, the old woman died and Pyros found himself thrust into the world of men and demons, finding both hostility and trouble wherever he went, as the winged traveler.
Extra: Pyros is technically the fire kami, having just bested Ifrit and having had his old sword broken, broken many bones in his body, and suffering injuries that will never truly heal. He begins the RP just leaving the presence of a peculiar human smithy who fixed his sword and tended to his wounds, as well as teach him some swordsman concepts.
However, he is still recuperating from his wounds and is heavily bandaged.
Personality: Too nice for existence. Dislikes fighting. Dislikes killing. Doesn't step on ants. Enjoys hugs and tea.

Since you say demons are by default physically superior when compared to humans, and you already gave me a finger by mashing both venom skills into one, I guess I'll just drop sub-sound speed attacks.
Demons on average do tend to be faster or stronger than the average human, but a well-trained human would be able to keep up.
And I don't know if the RP forum has changed since the last time I ran a game, but an ST saying what does and doesn't go isn't considered "giving the finger", it's considered "enforcing the rules of his game".
Edit: Pyros, you're approved. DanteFalcon you're approved, though be ready to switch to the Light side given the going pattern of Dark Team players. Rapter, you're approved but I'm going to be keeping an eye on you. Nothing personal, just the flags of "dark hooded cloak", "gun", and "human with glowing eyes" are sending up alarm flags. I'm sure you'll do fine.

ST saying what does and doesn't go isn't considered "giving the finger", it's considered "enforcing the rules of his game".
I think a misunderstanding occurred here(or occurs now).
I meant finger as in that saying about a small favor leading to abuse, I probably translated it from my language too directly.
"Give them a hand and they'll take the whole body", I think that's how it goes, so I meant a hand, not a finger.

Name: Yatsume Yojimbo
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 22
Appearance: He?s 5?11 and has a black beard and Long Black haired tied in a braid. Piercing Blue eyes that seemed like they saw straight into your soul. Wears a Blood red top for his Hakama with Black pants. Weilds twin Tachi?s that are both strapped at his left waist.
Weapons:
Garou: An Enchanted Tachi with a wolf head hilt. This blade?s enchantment is a desire for blood. The more blood it drinks the sharper the blade is giving it an ability to slice through almost anything. This is also it?s weakness as if it does not taste blood it?s blade will dull slowly, making it harder to cut with
Okibi: An Enchanted Tachi with a dragon head hilt. This blade?s enchantment is fire. It?s blade leapts with fire when held in Yojimbo?s hand and unsheathed. He is protected from the intense flames. When the hilt is not held in his hand or sheathed it?s flames are smothered, though it will smoke if it?s hilt is grasped while sheathed.
Special Skills:
Super Strenght: Yojimbo is powerful. His Strength is increased 6 times that of a normal human. He is able to lift over 700 pounds. His small wiry frame hides the fact from his enemies he is blessed in such a way. His blows from his swords are incredibly powerful and with his enchanted blades can shear through a tree trunk with a one handed swing from one of his blades.
Inhuman Agility: Needing to close the gab to enemies quickly, Yojimbo developed his reflexes and sense to such that he cna move quicker then the eye can follow. Allowing him to dodge and evade incoming attacks.
History: Yojimbo is from a family who has had a long line of warriors. He received top training in all categories. Though he did show a quick enough mind and had a grasp of tactical warfare, his true talent was with a blade. He was extremely skilled with twin tachi?s that they quickly became his weapons of choice. He quickly outdistanced his masters in that aspect of his training and became one of the most feared members of his father?s warriors. It was during one of his routine assignments that his life would be given a true purpose.
He and one of his friends had been assigned to escort a visiting dignitary to his father?s estates when two crazed creatures attacked. They moved insanely fast and were powerful. Though Yojimbo was able to defeat one of them, his friend was not so lucky. He was killed by the creature he faced and that one also killed the dignitary. Yojimbo charged the creature in rage and vanquished it in the end, but not before it howled and spoke of the Demon King coming to seek vengeance on everyone.
Yojimbo returned to his home to bring the grave news to his father. Silent for the report his father turned and opened the wall without saying a word and presented Yojimbo with 2 swords. ?These blades will help you in your mission? His father said as he handed them over. ?You must find others like you and assist in stopping the madness that will come.? With that his father bade him to head out into the world, to find others who are tasked with the same goal and protect this world from the destruction that the Demon King will bring.

Alright then, mage character time! I tried to use common words in place of the Japanese ones - especially for the clothes. I'm not very knowledgeable about traditional Japanese fashion, so I'd more likely mix the terms up and make it more confusing than it'd be if I, well, didn't.
So anyway, Old School Mage Character time! I suppose it should be stated that Kami are manifestations of the power of nature - roughly equilivant to spirits in western myth, but that's an oversimplification.
Still, for the profile's sake, that'll do.
Name: Kobayashi Ryou
Side: Light
Race: Half-Demon
Age: 19
Appearance: Lightly tanned skin, straight blue-black hair hanging loosely past his neck, golden eyes. Slim build, handsome features, slightly taller than average. Clothing includes a wide sleeved and white trimmed back overrobe, with the stylized image of a gold eye on the back; robe is normally held closed by a white thread at his waist. Wears loose black pants and a deep gold shirt beneath under the coat. Carries a black sheathed dagger in his sleeve.
Weapon:
Ritual Dagger, A single edged dagger, blessed to counteract harmful curses (or, in some cases, blessings) laid upon an object or a living creature. To dispel a curse on a human, they must be stabbed. Purifying an object requires the blade to be heated; which makes it burst into white flames. Doesn't inflict extra damage to demons. Normally carried in a simple black sheath.
Special Skills:
Environmentalism, By manipulating the Kami around him, Ryou is able to exercise a degree of control over the environment around him. This ability's effects vary heavily place-to-place. Most manifestations of it will be as a weak form of elementalism (bursts of wind, tree roots tripping people, the ground rolling like water, etc), but there are some more esoteric applications - like using a river Kami to protect himself from fire, or a wind Kami to erect wards. If there aren't any Kami around, Ryou can't use this ability.
Mysticism, Using his demon blood augmented will, Ryou can - often indirectly - influence the events around him. In practice, that usually manifests as spells of protection, healing, luck or binding. Using catalysts, like a lock of the target's hair, their true name, or a circle drawn in the dirt, can amplify the power of whatever Ryou does. Unlike Kami manipulation, any kind of Mysticism is draining - it draws directly from his own energy. The discipline is also highly symbolic; harmful spells are especially strict in their requirements for some kind of connection to the target.
History: Descended from a long line of spiritualists with unnatural inner strength, Ryou was trained from a young age in the mystic arts and destined to, one day, become a village shaman. Under the instruction of his mother and grandfather - both renowned mystics in their own rights - Ryou completed his training quickly. Afterward, he was sent to another village to study under a friend of the family, an elderly priestess, to obtain more practical experience. For all his talent, he was far from ready to take care of a village.
Two years have past since he left his family home, and he's learned a lot about the world, and himself, since then. Now, he's worrying about the strange whisperings from the Kami, something seems to be happening, and it isn't good. With the strength of his spiritual powers, Ryou feels obligated to get involved. Whatever that means.
Extra: Ryou's really much less than a half demon, as the demon blood has become thinned substantially since it was first introduced into the family line. His eyes and hair color are the only real signs that he's supernatural - beyond his inner strength. I suppose you could say he's only 1/16 of a demon. Consequently, he isn't much better than a human in battle, unless you count magic.

05-15-2010, 05:54 PM
Name: Kenikua
Side: Dark
Race: War/Sword Demon
Age: 985
Appearance: Kenikua appears to be an almost unnaturally thin man, with a tattered hakama, and a straw hat, with long black hair that hangs loosely down his back. He wears a sword on his right hip, which seems to suck in the light around it.
Weapons: Jinitami--Whenever a swordsmith creates a masterwork weapon, they also create its 'opposite', a blade to hold all the spiritual impurities so that their true blade may be purified. Jinitami is the sword forged to hold the impurities of Raigaki, and its evil is so great that any human attempting to hold it is burnt by its touch.
Special Skills: Unlike Raigaki, Jinitami lacks its own inherent skills, but Kenikua has learned to work with its corruption. These abilities would be far weaker without it, if functioning at all.
Essence Inversion Strike: Upon cutting a human opponent with Jinitami, Kenikua forces their soul to interact with the corruption of the blade, and, even if the blow was a mere scratch, their soul begins to tear itself apart and turn inside out causing intense pain, and, usually, death. Usually the opponent falls immediately to the ground writhing in supernatural pain, though the particularly strong willed may be able to resist its effects. In such a case their soul is torn apart, a minor demon being given birth by the wound after a full day of suffering. The effect is far weaker and never fatal against half-demons (though still painful), and completely ineffectual against demons. Without the blade, Kenikua might still focus some of his energy through a normal weapon and inflict terrible pain, but it would only affect creatures as if they were one 'demonic level' higher (humans affected as half-demons, and half-demons not affected at all).
Universal Corruption Technique: Using the fact that Jinitami is an affront to the very existance of the universe, Kenikua subverts the natural laws of the world for a moment and allows his blade to exist in multiple wounds at once. This ability is effected as soon as he swings the blade, Kenikua's sword arm and weapon splitting into hundreds of attacks, each one striking from a different angle. Due to the strain of the ability, however, only one of these blows contains any actual force, the rest merely dealing hundreds of small superficial bleeding scratches. This technique relies completely on Jinitami's corruption, and is impossible without it.
Corrupting Resonance: Kenikua plunges the blade of Jinitami into the ground at his feet, and sends his own essence into the sword, gathering up its corruption and funneling it out into the ground. It takes a few moments to build up but once it does an explosion of corrupting essence blasts out in all directions, withering and destroying all life within 20 feet of his body. This technique is impossible without Jinitami.
History: Whether man or demon, no creature goes gently into that sweet sleep of death during the heat of battle. No man or monster wishes to die as they march to war, and this was true even for the followers of Daisuke Tama and Talkatz's demon army, and even the king of demons himself. As they each slain, or dismembered, their hatred, their fear, their bitterness over their fates, it became a palpable thing on that battlefield, the dark energies leeching into the weapons discarded on the field of battle. In time, these weapons melted away and slowly oozed together giving birth to the demon warrior Kenikua.
At first, Kenikua was somewhat lost. He was newly born and knew only hatred and malice directed at all things, human and demon alike. However, due the fact that he, himself, was a corruption of the battle against Talkatz, he felt... a calling, which he followed deep into the darkest reaches of the dungeons and forges of the underworld, and then deeper still, until it seemed to come from directly below him. Thrusting his hands into the ground he dug, pulling up dirt and rock until he felt something burning his impure aura, and yet he knew, somewhere within, that this thing burning him was what was calling to him. And so, grasping it in both hands he pulled it from the earth.
What he found was a wooden box carved with the name of kami and wrapped in paper talismans bearing the names of kami of light, with a hamaya arrow pierced through it. And yet, through all this, Kenikua could still feel something comfortable, something natural within it. And so, with difficulty, he tore the hamaya from the box, shredded the sealing paper, and struck the simple box with all his might until the wood cracked and shattered revealing the blade within. As he placed his hands upon it, he knew it intimately, as though it were a part of himself.
It was the Jinitami, the blade which held all the impurities cast off from Raigaki, a blade just as dark as Raigaki was light, and it called for the blood of the sacred sword's wielder. Now, centuries later, a new wielder has appeared, and Kenikua follows the blade's wishes to hunt down Daisuke Kurama.

Yuiri Kotone (Julford Hajime). Tenatively Light.
Motou Akai (Dantefalcon) Tenatively Dark
So if we assume everyone who posted a profile got accepted and we have a perfect attendance record from everyone (which I doubt.) We'll have more Light side than dark side. 8 9 Light, 5 6 Dark and 2 swingers both on one side each to start. It won't be even since there are 15, if you count the GM PC. (Of course Raiden can just make one for the dark side.)

Fair enough. Seems likely you'll be a dark type then. If Yuiri goes bat shit crazy and go dark side, then it'll be pretty much even at 8 to 7, which can easily be made 8 to 8 with another GM NPC.
Of course, highly unlikely given how few RPs nowadays keep every character for even 1 full chapter.

Name: Daisuke Yoshiro
Side: Light
Race: Half-demon
Age: 22
Appearance: 5'9'', messy black hair, red eyes. He wears a black hakama with a black shirt. His spear is on his back and wakizashi on his waist.
Weapons: Tetsukaki - An ornate spear, indestructible, with a red-tinted tip. It's inhabited by a fire kami, and Yoshiro can call upon its power whenever he chooses.
Taizen - A simple wakizashi.
Special Skill:
Fire Demon - Because his mother was a Fire Demon, Yoshiro can manipulate fire to an extent. He can control an existing flame, but he can?t create fire of his own. When he uses Tetsukaki, however, this ability is greatly amplified and he can create flames and use them with great skill, making giant fireballs and vortexes and things of that sort.
Zen State - Yoshiro is capable of entering a trance-like state during which injuries he has recieved heal much faster than normal. In this state, he loses awareness of the world around him, leaving him open to enemy attacks.
History: Yoshiro was raised a pacifist. His family, unknowlingly going against the Daisuke bloodline "tradition", grew tired of the violence going on around the world and sheltered themselves far away, living peaceful lives.
Now an adult, Yoshiro travels the world, still living a life of pacifism. However, he understands that some people simply won't listen to reason, so while he usually tries to avoid fighting, he is more than capable of defending himself. He carries around Tetsukaki mostly because it's a family heirloom passed down from his mother's side, although he has no problem using it when he fights.
Extra: Yoshiro is just Daisuke Kurama?s distant cousin. As in, somewhere one thousand years ago the Daisuke line split into two and both managed to retain the name throughout the years. Nothing like a long-lost brother.

She'll fight Dark side people. Problem is, she's just as quick to fight Light side people as well. She really does fit 'Neutral' better, it's just that neutral wasn't an available option, and as she opposes Talkatz as much as she opposes anyone else, that makes her technically Light side.
I mean hell, usually when I use the character name Kotone she's some form of psychic/mage with the handle PsyKo. It's a fitting name >.>

05-15-2010, 08:46 PM
Name: Akemi Ichirou
Side: Dark
Race: Half Demon
Age: 25
Appearance: He is 6 foot 2 and of a lean build. He has pale gray skin and wild black hair. His eyes are also an oddity, he has dark red irises, and gold pupils that seem to vibrate with instability, his teeth are abnormally sharp and bright, and his mouth is usually fixed into a smile. On top of this, he wears ragged and loose black and red clothes that add to his monstrous appearance.
Weapons:
The Gauntlets of Armageddon:These are gray and black gauntlets that reach to Ichirou's elbows. They shimmer with an eerie gold aura and are incredible large and heavy. It is hard to believe that Ichirou can actually carry them, let alone move them with such expertise as he does.
He 'inherited' thse from his demonic father. Back in his heyday, Ichirou's dad was known as the Harbinger of Doom. It was said that in the hands of Ichirou's father, these gauntlets could 'tear the world asunder.' Fortunately, the Demon never really had the chance to do so, and is dead now. Ichirou has gained the ability to use these gauntlets however, as he is the son of the Apocalypse demon. He can't quite bring about the end of the world with them though, just break a lot of shit. If anyone else were to try and use them, they would just be a heavy pair of gloves.
Special Skill:
Apocalyptic Strength: Ichirou's strength is otherworldly when he wears the gauntlets, almost explosive. He can do more than just collapse a brick wall, he can punch it and send the debris flying like projectiles. Basically, it allows him to tear apart almost anything as long as he's in a chaotic enough mood.
Resilience: Just as the end is impossible to beat, so is Ichirou. OK, not impossible, but it is pretty damn difficult to hurt him. This extends mostly to physical attacks however, more supernatural abilities can leave their mark. Furthermore, it isn't quite resisting physical attack, it is actually like he is hyped up on painkillers when he uses the ability Resiliance. Injuries can occur, he just ignores them better.
History:
Ichirou's father was known to many as the Demon of the Apocalypse. The monster swore no allegiance to anyone, and only made it his purpose to cause as much devastation as possible to the world. His rampages were immense and destructive, and he never left survivors intentionally. It took many years and the lives of several warriors before he was finally slain.
Well there was one whom he let survive. This was because the woman was the one who bore his child. The Demon had an odd premonition that his end was arriving soon, so that is why he let her live, so he could leave behind an Heir of Armageddon.
So Ichirou was born. He was left an orphan after it was clear that he strongly took after his father. He didn't care though, and he became a wanderer. The main thing that kept him going was the thought of living up to his father's legacy. Really looked up to the old man, y'know? This became even more a possibility once he managed to get his father's gauntlets. With these in his hands, Ichirou went forward and followed in the path laid out for him, destroying almost everything he saw.
But he found destiny to be a bit boring, just not enough freedom. He still like to break stuff, but he had no interest in ending the world. Not that he really could, as he wasn't entirely a demon. So he pledged his allegiance to the Dark Side, because they're just more fun.
Extra: Ichirou doesn't really consider himself human. Its probably because of limited contact with them, and his demonic appearance. He associates himself more with Demons, and likes to use the title of Demon of the Apocalypse, despite the fact that he isn't and couldn't.

She'll fight Dark side people. Problem is, she's just as quick to fight Light side people as well. She really does fit 'Neutral' better, it's just that neutral wasn't an available option, and as she opposes Talkatz as much as she opposes anyone else, that makes her technically Light side.
Just try not the get too competitive with the rest of us goody two shoes people, or I'll have to team kill.
Am not above doing that!
Seriously, and this is to all members of team light, if you get too psycho or something, whatever character I play will try to kill you. I don't deal with Company of Heroes mentalities too well; people don't gel as a group because plot says so! Personalities matter!
I look forward to working with you all though.
@Bard, Your character only has super strength when wearing those gloves, right? He doesn't seem that strong, although the throwing knives might be pushing it a little - maybe you should opt for a spiritual attack or something that he can use without the gloves? Dunno, something about skull crushing knives seems a bit too strong.
But really, otherwise, I'm not seeing all that much that sounds over powered.

But no seriously she will not hesitate to murder an opponent regardless of side. I probably should have made that more clear in the bio, but she is not a part of any "Company of Heroes". She would sooner fight them than join them, regardless of the cause.

Look, ma, I'm a bad guy!
Name: Yamauchi Osamu
Side: Dark
Race: Demon, Blacksmith
Age: 385
Appearance: Osamu stands at seven feet tall, his skin has been rendered hairless from the heat he endures in the forges, and his skin stained grey by the ash and soot he works in. Osamu wears a black leather apron and leather gloves. His face appears to be covered by a metal mask, but for all intents and purposes, the mask has become his face, long since fused into his flesh. Likewise, he has forged plates of metal onto his left arm
Weapons:
Hellforge Hammer[/b]: A heavy hammer made out of an infernal metal. Used by the weaponsmiths of the underworld to forge weapons for the demon hordes. The hammer can used one handed or two handed.
[i]Hellforge tongs: Used to pull materials in and out of forges of the underworld. Can be used to grasp items of any temperature. Very limited use in battle, unless Osamu can grasp someone with them. If he can, it is very hard to get out of the tongs.
Hellforge anvil: Used to forge weapons in the underworld. Osamu carries around the anvil on a thick chain that is strapped around his back. It can be used as a makeshift shield, or can be swung by the chain it is hooked to like a morning star.
Special Skill:
Forged Strength: Having worked in the forges for a very long time, Osmau has developed the strength to both swing his hammer and carry his anvil. This has made him extremely strong and gave him very high endurance.
Blacksmith of the Underworld: Osamu is now amongst the most skilled blacksmiths of the underworld. He can forge weapons and items in a fraction of the time it would take a normal blacksmith. He can also forge and repair magical items with the right materials. He can also forge metal onto himself, such as he has with his face and his left arm. However, he tries not to do this very often as it is...painful. Equally, should he decide to remove the metal forged onto him, the process is equally unpleasant.
History: As far as Osamu's family was concerned, the blacksmiths of the underworld were shamed when one of their own forged a weapon meant to destroy their leader, Talkatz.
For centuries, Osamu's family tried to forge a dark copy of Raigaki, hoping to give the demons the edge for when they came across the blade again. However, none were able to forge a blade that would match the sword of light.
So, Osamu is on a pilgrimage to find the Raigaki. He believes that if he can see the sword in use, and then study the blade itself, that he would be able to recreate the blade for his master upon his return. He believes that the blacksmiths of the underworld will only be truly redeemed when Talkatz conquers the human world, Sword of Darkness in hand.
A sword that Osamu plans to forge himself.

Just a quick thing I feel I should mention as I look at the posts:
The goal of the game is NOT to kill the other side. It's to achieve your goals while keeping the other side from stopping you or achieving theirs.
If you must, think of it like an anime. When there's a recurring cast, it's rare for a character to be killed. They may be injured and run off, but they're usually kept alive for later fights.
As such, PvP combat kind of puts the lion's share of responsibility on the players to be, y'know, mature. Honestly, it can range from totally no fun at all ("Man, he just killed an entire room of monks, who trained their entire lives to kill demons, on his own, in one post") to really fun ("Yeah, we discussed through PMs how our duel was going to go, so we can really play off each other better").
And I know it's good-natured jibing, but just felt like I should say something before we get going.
Edit: Toast is approved, Teal is approved though leaving your magic skill that wide open means I may come down on you if you abuse it, just a fair warning, Krylo is approved, Krogoth is approved, Draco is approved, Bard is approved.
and yeah, it looks like a lot of people now, but when the RP Slims hit, it hits hard.

Name: Yamato Tetsuo
Side: Dark
Race: Human
Age: 29
Appearance: Skin darkened with soil and ash, and branded with symbols of shame. Head shaven, scalp bare. His eyes are a dark, dark brown, his teeth blackened as well. Wears loose-fitting black robes that hide his movements and his weapons.
Weapons: A single, lethally-sharp dagger, along with a single pistol-crossbow. Simple weapons, no enchantment, but steel is steel, even without magical runes. It can still cut your throat.
Special Skills:
Shadowlife: Tensuo lives in shadows, with shadows. He can hide in shadows to misdirect his foes, move quickly in them and speak through them. The deeper the shadows are, the stronger his power. Don't fight him in the dark. Or indoors. Or in the forest.
Dynasty Resources: Assassins, Spies, Favors. Money. The legacy of generation upon generation of crime lords. They're spread out, but Tensuo can call upon them, find out what he needs to know, or have a certain enemy removed. (I'll mostly be using spies here, to find out stuff I shouldn't be knowing, but hey... Maybe, just maybe, there'll be an assassin waiting for you at one campsite or another... sleep well, now. Though I'll probably also contact you OOC, if I wanna send an assassin after your character.)
But goddamn, they were prepared.

Name: Reikketsu Izuko
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 24
Appearance: Izuko is tall, muscled, and looks every bit like he has been training his body for his entire life, which he has. He has gray eyes and his dark brown hair reaches to his chin in length. He wears a brown short-sleeved tunic, dark green and slightly baggy pants, and comfortable leather traveling shoes. He also wears a light brown sash around his waist that he tucks his kusarigama into on his right side.
Weapons:
Shirogane: A kusarigama that has been enchanted so that the chain links never break and the blade never dulls. The chain, weight, handle, and blade all look like they were forged from pure silver.
Special Skill:
Unnatural leverage: A second enchantment placed on Shirogane increases the amount of force exerted on a target that has been entangled in its chain. In other words once a target has been ensnared in the chain Izuko can pull them off their feet (or disarm them, depending on if the person or their weapon has been ensnared) with little effort.
Ricochet Throw: With near-perfect accuracy Izuko can ricochet the weighted end of Shirogane off of multiple surfaces in order to strike at his opponent from an unnatural angle. Due to the unnatural composition of Shirogane, very little momentum is lost with each rebound.
History: Shortly after Daisuke Tama defeated Takaltz, a man named Reikketsu Renzo had a dream that the Demon King would return and that he would have to help prepare for that day. So Renzo set out and, as though guided by a kami, forged Shirogane. Due to Shirogane's silver appearance, and Renzo's own gray eyes, it was decreed within the Reikketsu family that only a child with gray eyes would learn to wield Shirogane.
One thousand years and three gray-eyed children later Izuko was born, his gray eyes setting his fate in stone. He spent his entire life learning the way of the kusarigama, mastering the style by the age of sixteen. On his seventeenth birthday he was finally given Shirogane and he began his training with the weapon, which proved rather difficult due to Shirogane's peculiar composition that made it very lightweight compared to a standard kusarigama. Still Izuko persevered and completely mastered Shirogane after another two years of training.
With his training complete Izuko was told by his father to go out and travel in order to gain actual combat experience with the weapon. He also told him that if he should ever meet a man named Daisuke Kurama then Izuko should protect him with his life. After five years of traveling, fighting bandits and the odd demon, and hearing many rumors about Daisuke Kurama, Izuko finally met the man himself.

Teal is approved though leaving your magic skill that wide open means I may come down on you if you abuse it, just a fair warning.
I thought that was the principle for all abilities. Sometimes they work far better than you expect in practice!
Yeah, I know it comes off as incredibly open and vague, but it was difficult to describe what I was getting at any other way. If you're not sure what I meant with those abilities, contact me on one of my messengers or PM me. I do have pretty specific limitations in mind, but they would have taken too much space to list out in a bio. I like to keep mine concise!
Anyway, I'll try to be careful about what I do with magic. Most of the powers are supportive, defensive or indirect, so the concept might turn out underpowered in practice anyway.

Name: Ochi Dai
Side: Dark
Race: Ghost
Age: 37
Appearance: In life, he was a tall, muscular man, tanned from spending any available moment under the sun, long hair kept neatly tied back in a ponytail. That body, however, has long since fallen away to decay and replaced several times over by the abandoned shells of whatever poor individuals had found themselves dead shortly after meeting him.
Weapons: A simple katana. It has no name, nor ornate decoration, nor magical properties beyond the sentimentality of the wielder. As such, it has been kept in pristine condition and is of quite resilient make.
Special Skill:
Possession: Being a spirit, Dai is able to possess the bodies of others in order to interact with the physical plane. The success rate and allowed time of this ability are inversely proportionate to the strength of will of the host, with a 100% success rate of permanent possession of an uninhabited body (i.e. dead). Without a body, Dai is ultimately unable to manipulate the world around him, and must be quick about finding a new host in the event of corporeal destruction or spiritual expulsion in order to reduce the length of time he spends useless.
Chill of Death: A debilitating grasp that drains the heat away from whatever it comes in contact with, resulting in a potentially debilitating freezing sensation through the body of the victim. More resilient foes can break free from it easily enough, but it can present enough of a shock to the system to stun most people momentarily if taken by enough of a surprise. It can also be used on inanimate objects, dropping their temperature well into the subzero range within seconds.
Breath of Life: A vampiric ability allowing Dai to drain the life force out of a victim through their breath, using the energy to regenerate his body to repair wounds and extend the overall usage of whatever shell he's inhabiting. However, the victim must be restrained to the point where he can breathe in their life, which in many cases isn't a particularly easy feat.
History: A decade ago, Ochi Dai was one of his village's proudest sons. He was a respected samurai in the service of his daimyo, a loving husband with a devoted wife, and doting father to two sons and a daughter. But such loyalty to a lord has consequences, especially when two lords find themselves in a disagreement. Wars ensue, battles must be fought, and the husbands and fathers must leave to do battle to defend the honor of men they've never even met. Such was the duty of Ochi Dai, and a duty he fulfilled with the utmost dedication.
But when the husbands and fathers are away, dishonorable men are free to come play. A group of bandits came down from the mountains and threatened the village, but the village wouldn't sway. They told the bandits that their land was home to the fiercest of samurai, and any interlopers would certainly face the wrath of these mighty warriors if the village were to come to any harm.
The bandits called their bluff, burning the village to the ground and slaughtering everyone within.
When Dai returned with his men, he found everyone he loved laying dead. The bandits had made a clear example of his home, proudly leaving their mark in the hope of intimidating any they might come to prey upon in the future. Stricken with grief and rage, Dai buried his family, spent a sleepless night staring at the stars, and at sunrise he left the charred remains of his village and trekked into the mountains to exact his revenge.
And, if he hadn't been hungry, parched, exhausted, and entirely alone against the couple dozen bloodthirsty raiders when he arrived at their stronghold, he might have accomplished something.
So he, too, was slain, his soul cast into purgatory. But the rage in his heart--or whatever could classify as a "heart" at this point--was beyond measure, and quickly attracted the attention of demons, who offered to help return him to the overworld to exact his vengeance if he agreed to serve their master for eternity. With no family to carry on his line, no one to bury him and complete the rites for him to pass on, and no use for honor or loyalty to some mortal landowner, he accepted their offer and returned to Earth as a yurei, rising within his cold, dead body for a second round.
Quickly adjusting to his new form, he quite capably dispatched the gang in the night, commandeering the corpses of those he slayed, possessing the weaker willed bandits and forcing them to assault their allies long enough to turn the whole gang against one another, until all laid vanquished but their leader. And soon he fell, as well, dying terrified and alone at the hands of samurai whose life he had destroyed on every conceivable level, darkness overtaking him as he watched everything he had worked for burn to the ground around him.
And for the next ten years thereafter, his vengeance complete, Ochi Dai has roamed the earth with no purpose other than to fulfill his obligation, serving at the beck and call of the forces of the demon lord Talkatz.

Alright, this took longer than I thought. Hopefully it doesn't suck too bad.
Name: Matsuoka Katashi
Side: Dark
Race: Human
Age: 41
Appearance: Katashi is over 6 feet tall and nearly 300 pounds. In a word, Huge. Black hair, kept short, and a fair sized moustache. Usually looks like he's in a bad mood, mostly because he usually is. His face looks like it's been bashed in a few times, and his nose is on a permanent slant after the last time(but hardly the first time) it was broken. Wears a pretty heavy set of armour whenever he's expecting a fight.
Weapons:
Naginata: Pretty much just a normal Naginata. Very well made, though. It's managed to last through 20 years of fighting without needing more than minor repairs, so it's not going to break any time soon.
Uchigatana: A short sword worn on his belt. Non-magical, but again, very well made. Katashi uses this as a backup weapon and when fighting in tight areas.
Special Skills:
Magic Resistance: For reasons he has never quite figured out, Magical attacks and weapons have a tendency to not work properly against Katashi. Some magic will still affect him, but anything without real power behind usually has barely noticable effects.
Implacable: Katashi is a hard man to stop. It takes a wholly unreasonable amount of force to knock him over or otherwise unbalance him, and his guard is up pretty much all of the time.
History: (I have an idea of what Katashi's done: Mercenary Work, banditry, basic fighting-to-get-money, but it's like 5am and I need sleep to live)

A day later and I've got the revamped profile of this guy up and running. Time to blow shit up! ...or not, although it'd be fun.
Name: Suzume
Side: Light
Race: Human (?)
Age: 22
Appearance: A normal Japanese man, albeit a bit scrawny at 5'10" with a very light build. Black hair, cut to shoulder length. His eyes are black, but flare up to a bright blue during fights. Wears hakama cut off at the knees along with a simple shirt and more of an overshirt than a kimono, giving him more of a relaxed, and very undignified, look.
Weapons: Keeps a katana on his back and a knife on his belt.
Special Skill: Soul Detection/Absorption: Suzume can see the souls of deceased demons for whatever reason. He's never questioned it, he just can. And just as well, he acts like a hub for them and they tend to follow him for, again, whatever reason. This doesn't really take any skill for him, but Suzume tends to like the pretty colors when he's bored.
Soul Manipulation: Taking the inherent energies in the demon souls and bending them to his will, Suzume can do a wide range of miraculous things! ...in his imagination, of course. So far his most delicate manipulation is making a powerful (and temporary) shield out of the demon's soul about the size of his body, while his favorite one is sending the energy straight forward in a destructive blast. Each manipulation uses up one (or more, if he feels like it) soul.
History: Suzume was found by a couple of farmers when he was very young, wandering around as an orphan. Thankfully being considerate, they took the young boy with them to their home and raised him. The young boy then became a trouble-maker without comparison. He would raise hell in the village, starting fights just by being around. This never troubled his adoptive parents since they knew he was extremely energetic, which probably didn't mesh well with the laid back villagers and kids.
Of course, unlike the thoughts of his parents, little Suzume just liked fighting. And he always wanted something tougher than just your average little kid or intervening parent. So when he was 16 Suzume gave up the farming life and started going from place to place, causing a ruckus whenever he managed to get into some seedy part of town. This violent vagrant lifestyle suited him, but he wanted more. When someone told him he was tough enough to become a demon hunter, he shrugged and asked them point him in the right direction. That person probably wasn't being serious, but what could be tougher than a demon?
It wasn't long before Suzume had managed to kill a small demon or two, but he was wondering just what the little flames following him meant. No one else seemed to notice them and they kept him up at night, which was beginning to annoy him. When he finally tried swatting one away, he blew a hole in the wall of the inn he was staying in. Slackjawed, he immediately ran away and started to perfect his new art of making things explode.
Now, just a few years after becoming a demon hunter and discovering his abilities Suzume has SOME control over his powers, but is still prone to blowing his surroundings to smithereens. The collateral damage HAS been slightly reduced over the years, although his destructive tendencies don't help much in that regard.
Maybe he could gain a little more control if he ran into some sort of hero with a magic sword or something? ...nah, probably not gonna happen.
Extra: I'll set Suzume's starting soul number at 12, unless Raiden's feeling picky.

05-16-2010, 01:51 PM
Name: Zaru Oki
Side: Team Sunshine and Puppies (Good)
Race: Snow monkey demon. (I'm assuming animal demons are still okay.)
Age: That's not something you ask a lady, sweetie. (600 years; doesn't look a day over 400.)
Appearance: A very petite woman, Oki barely reaches five feet even while wearing her tall geta sandals. She wears the clothes of a commoner, but wears a variety of trinkets around her neck. Most of them are worthless. Her eyes are golden-brown, and her hair is brownish gray, shaggy around her face with the rest pulled back into a ponytail.
Over the years she's perfected her human disguise; in fact aside from her eyes, the only real sign that she's a demon is her tail, which is usually hidden anyway.
Weapons: Wooden staff. Doubles as a walking stick. Has a knot at one end-- Good for bludgeoning stuff. Made from a branch stolen off a sacred tree. It can resist and dispel weaker dark energies, and will not break as long as the tree still lives.
Darts: Long metal needle-shaped darts. Nothing magical about them-- they're good for throwing and stabbing things with, though.
Special Skills:
Tough Old Biddy: She may look like an old lady, but she's still a demon and technically ageless. The "feeble old woman" act is mainly for drumming up sympathy. She's quite strong and almost inhumanly agile when she needs to be.
Illusion: Oki can cast simple illusion tricks on inanimate objects for short periods of time. This can range from making a stick look like a poisonous snake, to making you believe she's paying you in gold nuggets rather than a handful of small rocks and dead bugs. The illusion wears off after a while, and fails altogether after the object is carried a certain distance away from Oki. This skill is probably why Oki doesn't have a permanent address.
Can't fool me: Having 600 years of experience as a trickster under her belt, Oki's good at recognizing illusions and traps. It takes a lot to fool her. However, that doesn't necessarily mean she'll avoid them: sometimes she'll walk into it just to see how it works. Alternately, she'll let one of her teammates stumble into it for her. Often without informing them of this. Oki is a team player.
History: A trickster and curious by nature, Oki spent much of her early life playing pranks on humans traveling through her forest. As most of these pranks ended with Oki robbing them blind, the monkey demon soon discovered that humans have some pretty awesome stuff, like beads and shoes and coins and sake. Especially sake. Sake is great.
Deciding she wanted in on this whole humanity thing, Oki used her MAGICAL DEMON POWERS to disguise herself as a human, leaving her forest to live among them. Over time she found success posing as a traveling fortune teller, offering "mystical advice" and magical remedies in exchange for picking her customers' pockets when they weren't looking, moving on to the next village before people started to catch on.
Lord Talkatz, however, could put a major dent in her business. Resurrecting the demon lord would bring about an end to the age of humans, which in turn would bring an end to everything Oki enjoys stealing. That's not a future worth living in.
Extra: Oki is cunning, greedy, and a borderline kleptomaniac. She may be on your side, but if you have something she wants, she'll try and find a way to get it.

Name: Marcel "Drak" Drakkar
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 26
Appearance: WHITEY. Like, the only white dude in Japan. Very tanned, with unkempt dirty blonde hair fastened behind his face in an itty bitty pony tail. He has not shaved in a while, giving him a beard. Wiry frame, though clearly with muscle on top of it. He stands about 6' 3" tall, making him a giant amongst the people of Japan, and he is never seen without his cane. Upon arriving in japan, he is wearing a somewhat dirty white shirt, dirty blue pants, and his distinctive sailor's felt shoes. Insert large pack and cane, and he looks like some crazy white man traveler.
Weapons: A cane that has a sword hidden inside of it. Motley collection of knives stashed about his person. His super stiff felt shoes.
Special Skill: He doesn't hear it: Marcel doesn't hear languages. After anyone speaking a couple sentences in a different language, he "hears" what they're saying in his native french. What's more interesting is that after hearing a couple sentences, he speaks another language to someone near flawlessly. He also is not aware that he does this, he simply doesn't comprehend the concept of different languages, as he's never experienced it.
He's healthy as a horse: Another reason why the king chose him for his mission is his absolutely outstanding health. Marcel just does not get sick. Ever. He has no memory of ever having been ill. Food poisoning that has brought other men to their knees and made them useless for days merely makes Marcel have a slight headache. Broken bones heal for him in a week instead of a month, and cuts seem to vanish overnight.
Like looking into a mirror: Looking into Marcel's eyes is an interesting event. It can be akin to looking into a mirror, in that Marcel will suddenly become a perfect mimic of that person. Their movements, their behaviours, their mannerisms, it becomes a conversation with oneself. That this is happening is always given away as Marcel's eyes lose their pigmentation, and many swear that a silhouette of the person being mimicked becomes visible around Marcel. While he is conscious of initiating it, Marcel is not conscious of what happens while being a mimic, kind of like Bruce Banner directing The Hulk. Upon the mimic ending, Marcel has been known to carry some personality characteristics, but they tend to clear up within the day. Due to the obvious problem of radical changes in personality and amnesia, Marcel doesn't like doing this.
History: Born to a seamstress and a tailor, the youngest Drakkar has become a radical departure from his family heritage. While useful at plying his family's trade, he never gained the dexterity and creativity of his brothers and sister. For this reason alone, his family began to fear that Marcel would be unable to continue to serve the Royal family and they desperately began to search for other redeeming qualities he may have. His propensity for getting into fights with other children made his parents believe that a career fighting for a lord would be best, but they feared he held too much self-esteem to stand in place whilst having arrows rained upon him. As time went on, his lack of skill with textiles became more and more painfully apparent, while he became more and more adept at fighting, often being found getting into scrums with sailors. Desperate for their youngest son to not be a shame, his parents begged the members of the royal family with whom they were in good standing to accept Marcel into the navy. It worked, and at the age of 16 Marcel became a sailor. While in the navy, Marcel's disregard for language became apparent. As they met more and more people and journeyed farther, Drak (as he was known to the other sailors) became so adept at the game of chaussons that few dared to challenge him. This was partly due to his skill and savagery, but also due to his seeming inability to be kept down. His neverending good health and his ability to communicate with anyone made his commanders both wary of him, and incredibly grateful to have him. At the age of 20, the king requested an audience with him. There, he admitted that he was fearful of social unrest, and was afraid that even his most personal body guards were poorly trained, and ordered Marcel to journey the world, including the newfound Orient, and learned as much about combat as possible. He was then to return to France after developing so much skill as to be unable to suffer defeat, and train the King's bodyguards. Drak is now six years into his voyage, and has only recently entered Japan.
Extra: Having lived serving the french nobility for so long, he is first and foremost a gentleman. However, he's also a sailor. So he'll boff anything with a pulse.
Up to Raiden on this one, but can he imitate magic as well? I would also like to suggest that on top of personality quirks, he should retain some stuff in muscle memory, but I'll leave that one up to the powers that be.

If you know my character sheet already, you're an NPF vet.
So put me down for Koyuki Shimokaze, because I've gotten a PM saying that I'm slacking on my quota of being the Bouk Obelisk of team evil in this RP.
Sheet will appear later for those not willing to search the seven or so variations that already exist.
If you must, think of it like an anime. When there's a recurring cast, it's rare for a character to be killed. They may be injured and run off, but they're usually kept alive for later fights.
LOL, I felt the need to post this now, but there's a little running joke about Koyuki being abnormally hardcore as far as my characters tend to go. I think she carries the running record for "fastest player slaying in an RP" clocking in at two posts. Poor Secretskull, I didn't even mean it.

1: Get demonic mind control
2: Become high-ranking politician in the Homnyr region
3: Through policy and covert operations, incite hatred against pokemon and trainers among the people of homnyr
4: React to "public opinion" by banning pokemon training and restructure region to focus on industry, manufacturing, and human ingeneuity. This should also involve making yourself dictator for life.
5: Covertly undermine neighboring regions, destabilize them, while expanding your own influence.
6: Commence takeover (military or otherwise) of neighboring regions.
7: Rinse and repeat until world is under your rule.

Name: Kawabata Katsu
Side: Light
Race: Demon
Age: 57
Appearance: Think a Goblin. Now think of a Goblin Engineer. There ya go.
Weapons: A rifle, some grenades, maybe a couple landmines, a flamethrower, an electric prod, a mortar, and a wrench. The usual really.
Special Skill:
Engineering: He makes things, from grenades to robots to rifles to rocket launchers to tracking devices to whatever you can imagine. Its steam-punk based technology, so it looks good. More complicated stuff takes longer, but he has been at this for over 30 years, and has quite the collection of things already made. Once in a while he will fail a make item check, and something will backfire. But that rarely happens right? Yeah don't worry, everything works perfectly, nothing he gives you can go wrong at all.
History: Katsu really isn't sure of his origins. He just remembers starting life in a workshop and has always ran with it. He is fascinated by technology, getting things to work together, causing explosions and fires and things to come a life, that it has become a life-long passion. He has traveled the lands, meeting a lot of different people, and helping build amazing things like tanks and airships. His understanding of engineering is starting to become unrivaled, and his talents are starting to be known across the land. He even has a logo now on his stuff (a pair of goggles with a sparkle on the lens top right) on some of the stuff he makes to help show that its his and not imitators.
Extra: He is a bit crazy sometimes, but is a rather good guy.

Speak of the devil! A bit bare bones, but it should do.
Name: Hakeshi Masumi
Side: Dark
Race: Nekomata (Cat Demon)
Age: 276
Appearance: A heartbreakingly beautiful seductress with long black hair, pale skin and amber eyes dressed in a black and gold kimono.
Weapons:
Seven Lives Stolen: A rolled up bundle of seven swords, their hilts wrapped in human hair. Each one is the sword of a slain samurai, their furious, restless spirit bound within. On Masumi's command, they come alive, flying at her enemies. Knocking one to the ground immobilises it.
Prayer Slips: A piece of paper should not hurt this much.
Special Skills:
Nekomata: Masumi is really a gigantic two tailed cat, with the power to take on human form, create ghostly fire and reanimate the dead to manipulate them like puppets. She can fly by forming flaming wheels attached to her ankles. A nekomata is also said to be able to devour anything in its path and mainly eat poison.
Demon Mystic: A blend of inherent abilities and the study of spiritual teachings to bewitch the living, toying with their minds and cursing their bodies. Much like a priestess, she can use her spiritual powers to use mudras, perform divinations, create wardings, ofuda and seals. She's skilled at the craft of magical items. She has extended her ability to reanimate the bodies of the fallen into fully fledged necromancy, especially with regard to the binding of spirits.
History: A cat that lives too long might be infected with a profound malice, venturing partly into ghostly realms and developing strange powers. Masumi is one such creature. Wrapped in a beguiling form distilled from countless deaths, she wanders the land like a plague, worming her way into a trusted position for a time before tearing it all down and starting over. She often passes herself off as a priestess. She supports Talkatz for the simple reason that when he is in power, there will be a much vaster scope for her to live in the way she chooses.

Name: Shimokaze Koyuki, or alternatively "Oni No Koyuki"
Side: Rocket
Race: Wolf Tengu (Dog Demon)
Age: Old
Appearance: Koyuki is at her core, a massive snow-white wolf clad in lightning-bolt patterns of black fur. Since this is fairly inconvenient to relate to most people, she manifests as a six-and-a-half foot tall woman with long white hair, clad in a scintillating red scale munate constructed from the body of her station's predecessor. Her red, predatory eyes dispel any illusion of humanity.
Weapons:
Angetsu Shouten; Mount Fujiyama was not always a volcano, nor was it the highest point in Japan. In ancient times, the jealous goddess of mount Haku and Fujiyama did battle with one another for the title of the tallest mountain in the world. Fujiyama won, but it was phyrric, for she was now a volcano.
Angetsu Shouten is forged from the first blood of this contest, by a Lunarian smith in a remote bamboo forest in the shadow of Fujiyama. It is a massive six and a half foot katana of supernaturally tempered obsidian, with a dual-crescent moon crossguard homaging the five elemental dragons.
Won in a game of chance by Koyuki's great grandfather, the blade has been passed down through her family for generations. Given the choice, she would use no other weapon.
Special Skills:
Alternate Forms: Being a demon, Koyuki often finds it difficult to interact with her more humanoid acquaintances. As such, she often takes a human form, and in fact prefers it for most occassions. Because she is a greater demon, it is difficult to fully transform herself for any length of time, so she often retains a number of tells that betray her demonic nature.
Essence Channeling: Due to the unique nature of the Angetsu Shouten, Koyuki can channel her internal energy, or "Chi" (More literally youki, to scholars), to perform a number of somewhat magical augmentations to her attacks. While not elemental, unless 'Demon' could be considered an element, certain moves (Like Striking the Keystones, Azure Dragon Rends the Sky, and Lightning-Whip-Smites-the-Water) emulate elements of nature.
Spirit Blade Spin: Jealousy, pride, and power are present in both Koyuki, Angetsu, and Kenjutsu itself. The three together create a unique situation indeed. An extension of Essence Channeling, the spirit blade spin is a particularly unique series of attacks that, when properly executed and connected with a target, amplify the blade and weilder's affinity and, in layman's terms, their chi power. Difficult to perform, but quite potent.
Toxin Claws: It is important to note that Koyuki's claws contain and secrete a mildly potent neurotoxin that, while not lethal, inflicts extreme pain and muscle spams.
History: Descended from a long line of Talkatz elite guard and tactical cadre, Koyuki's father was one of the original Altmas slain by Genkai Tama. Due to the fact that this is all quite embarassing and that Genkai Kurama is destined to weild the Raigaki (which Koyuki covets, for her own aims), she is determined to kill him, or at least see him defeated by her hand.
Granted, this isn't for any loyalty to Talkatz, whom is for all intents and purposes, dead. However, his infrastructure remains and remains a convenient base of operations from which to strike at Kurama and his ragtag band. Ambitious, proud, and with every intent to replace the slain Talkatz as Dominix, she seeks to obtain a number of artifacts necessary to properly carry out this plan, among them the Elixer of Immortality, the Raigaki, and several others.
Extra: Revamped the Angetsu's history, but otherwise everything remains the same.

I didn't notice this earlier, but does this mean that for all intent and purpose, demons are normally invisible to humans?

Not normally, but Raiden might have been referring to the ability to see dematerialized demons.
Which would be quite handy.
EDIT: And least gods, because the mythos makes no/little distinction between Demons and Kami. Considering most least gods are invisible/dematerialized/otherwise hidden so they don't clutter your sight, it's one of the most basic abilities a sorceror would need.

alright, looks as good a time as any to close sign-ups. Give me a few days to get together a storyline, I'll give you guys some time to get "in character", and then I'll start up the RP itself in a few days, likely when grad school releases its clench hold on my goods for the yearly breather.
Also, an official Word of God, by "seeing demons" I meant what Geminex and Phoenix stated. Demons come in a lot of forms, some very human, some very non-human and good at hiding. That ability would allow the person to be able to see demon energy and pick out who's a demon and what's just a cat that looks at you funny.

Name: Higashi Yoshitsune
Nickname: "Mightiest Tiger" (Barely used nowadays)
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 60
Appearance:
Standing 6 feet tall with dark brown eyes, everything about Yoshitsune yells rugged. From the wild and unkempt mess of graying black hair that reaches well past his shoulders and the scruffy stubble that never seems to grow, to his thick, muscular frame covered in scars of all kinds, his skin tanned and rough. His clothes consist of a grey (originally white) tattered and patched kimono with the sleeves cut off and an equally dirty and patched black hakama (the pants kind, not the skirt kind) with black tabi and wooden sandals. A hooded brown cloak completes his attire. One thing of note is that Yoshitsune appears to be at least 20 years younger than he really is.
Gear and weapons:
Walking staff: A long and sturdy tree branch used to aid in walking.
Wineskin: Exactly what it says on the tin, a waterskin filled to the brim with wine. Always hanging from a strap slung over the shoulder.
Gauntlets of Uesugi: Magically enhanced items left to Yoshitsune by the warrior monk Uesugi the 6th, the gauntlets are in fact simple red fingerless gloves. What makes them so special are the sewn in mystical texts which, when activated, generate a protective aura which starts at the hand and ends at the shoulder. The aura, which glows in a faint blue color, grants the limbs a steel-like level hardness and impact.
Greaves of Uesugi: The companion item to the gauntlets, the greaves are a black pair of tabi with sewn in texts akin to the gauntlets, granting the same kind of protection from the foot to the knee.
Special Skills:
Superhuman strength: Wearing both the gauntlets and greaves had the unexpected (for Yoshitsune anyways) side effect of increasing his physical strength to frightening levels. Yoshitsune is able to easily smash through brick walls and punch rocks to dust.
Superhuman agility: Having close at the peak of a massive mountain for 20 years, Yoshitsune has also achieved a tremendous level of speed and agility on normal grounds, moving amazingly fast when he wants to as well as having impressive balance and coordination, coupled with his own outstanding reflexes.
History:
"I was born to a rather wealthy family. Not absurdly rich, but with enough money that we could afford whatever we wanted within reasonable limits, you know? I first became obsessed with martial arts because.......I don't even remember anymore, but the thing is that my father gathered the best teachers our money could get, so I started training when I was 15. By the time I turned 20, I had developed my own style, all rough and macho, full of big punches and poses to show off my muscles, and, to be fair with myself, it was indeed very effective back then. I did some stupid things, challenging dojos and going around killing animals to feed my ego. I actually became famous for slaying wild tigers with my bare hands. Pfeh, "Mightiest Tiger", they called me. I am still ashamed for all the lives I took for nothing"
The disheveled and dirty man gulps down some wine and continues to ramble "Of course, my ego was very much swollen and I did believe I was invincible. That lasted about a week. The time it took a fighting demon to follow the rumors and challenge me. Now, our techniques were equal, in fact, I seem to recall having the advantage as far as technique went. But, the demon's body was far tougher and stronger than mine. Even though I landed more blows and took less, I still lost miserably. With my ego popped like a balloon, I was able to once again focus on my training. This time, though, I was not seeking to improve my technique but my body. And so I undertook a terrible training regime. You would not believe what I did to myself, it could pass for self torture. But, after 10 years, my body had developed enough to be considered a weapon. And thus I sent word I was looking to fight demons and like a plague they came, seeking to punish the insolent human who compared himself to them. Of course, with my new body, I stomped over them and my ego reached the heaven itself. I was the greatest fighter of the land, or so I boasted. Thankfully, there was someone who managed to deflate my ego one last time."
"Master Uesugi was very kind. He did not approach me looking to prove himself or anything. He just took an interest in me, said he was hoping I would accept him as a teacher not just in the martial arts, but as a tutor for life itself. I accepted as long as he could best me in a fight. What I thought would be pushing an old man around for fun became the worst beating of my life as every move I tried was met with a simple motion that caused me to either fall flat on the ground or fly through the air, landing like a sack of potatoes every time. I had managed to dislocate my arm with my efforts, but I was absolutely in awe of the man, so I agreed to become his pupil and stayed with him until his death, 20 years to be exact. I won't give you all the details about his personal philosophy and all that, but, what I will say is that I finally incorporated his style to my own. I was 50 when he died, and had become a new man because of him. I quietly buried him and, to honor his memory, adopted a lifestyle similar to his. I have spent another 10 years like this, going wherever fate may take me and enjoying the simpler pleasures in life. But I have probably bored you long enough, let me buy you a drink and I'll be on my way"

Well, I suppose I might as well post my character change. It was drastic enough that I changed everything I had before! So, new character, slightly different role, but a Miko is still a Mage.
...and yes, before any of you say it, I know Mikos aren't boys. He's more of an apprentice priest. But they have a longer name that I don't-ah just read the bio. You will notice my crude attempt at correct use of Japanese! Try not to kill yourself at how bad it is.
Name: Tachibana Shin
Side: Light
Race: Human
Age: 19
Appearance: A slim, effeminate and delicate looking young man, with long silver hair and violet eyes. Typically wears a wide sleeved white kimono top and pale blue hakama pants, with a leaf printed violet obi separating the two. A pair of bells are tied to his wrist with a thin white cord.
Weapon:
Suzu Mayoke, A pair of golden bells, tied to a plain white thread. Blessed by protective charms, the Mayoke will ring if malicious intent is aimed at their carrier. Demons that touch them will be burned. Can be used to generate a spherical barrier around their user.
Ofuda, Paper talismans inscribed with the name of his guardian Kami. He carries three kinds, to seal power, to perform exorcisms and to generate one sided barriers. If too much stress is placed on these talismans, or the target is too powerful, they will burst into flames and fail. Shin can use them as projectiles and combine them with his spells.
Special Skills:
Spirit Armor, A ghostly force that wields a sword of spirit in Shin's defense. Possesses the ability to block or parry attacks, in addition to launching its own using a transparent spirit blade. Injuries dealt with it are purely spiritual, but hurt all the same. Attacks that can't be blocked or parried will more likely be softened by the Kami's aura; a field of repellent force around Shin. If overused, the aura will become virtually non-existent and weaken Shin's own attacks. Especially effective at stopping curses and the like.
Heaven's Wrath, Shin's spiritual power, drawn from the Kami. The power appears as bright pink, yellow and white energy, which Shin shapes into a variety of attacks. Common motifs include fragments of glass, lighting, weapons and waves of light. He can elect to have the spells damage selectively, indiscriminately, or just act as force; demons don't take any more damage than a human would.
History: A traveling Exorcist, his position in the official temple hierarchy is roughly between apprentice and normal priest, though his spiritual powers are uncommonly strong for his age. A few years prior to the present, Shin went on a pilgrimage with the Shrine Keeper of his village and the handful of other apprentices, to a larger temple which housed a sacred mirror containing a powerful Kami.
Along the way, the group was beset by bandits, lead by a pair of powerful demons. They were overpowered and many of them were slain. Soon, only Shin and a pair of apprentice Mikos remained. Then, when all seemed hopeless, a bright light erupted in their midst.
Shin was knocked unconscious after that. When he came to, he and the young girls found themselves with silver hair and violet eyes - and in the possession of ghostly guardians and great spiritual power. Oh, and they were surrounded by dead bodies, but that wasn't important.
Feeling he had a duty to use his powers to their fullest, Shin left the temples after that, leaving much of his training unfinished. He's had moderate success as a demon slayer and exorcist, but has to deal with some of the same stigma that Half-Demons do, because of his appearance. As a result, he rarely stays long in any one place. Recently, after dealing with a string of weaker demons claiming to be members of a movement seeking to resurrect the Demon King, Shin has been thinking that wandering from village to village might not be the best way to use his powers any more. Perhaps a quest would be more suitable?
Extra: The bells are from his dead mentor, his belongs were distributed among the survivors. Obviously, they didn't help him much.

First, there will be something about the Genkai getting a drink, and wandering through the wilderness. Then, every other character will pop up, with the standard members of Team Crybabyzell showing up behind the Genkai, having always been with him, while others are encountered in whatever opening area we start in, like Pyros, who always happens to be doing something peacefully before a giant blood/air demon wrecks his fishing hole.
Team Rocket pops up in an early suprise attack, attempts to overcome Genkai and co with a flex of their abilities, fight goes on into a stalemate (or fight goes on too long), Genkai pulls plot-jutsu out of his sword, we get on an airship.
...oh wait, you asked WHEN. Not How. Umm...laters. Probably. Raiden is a busy guy.

First thread will be up sometime today or tomorrow. Had to turn in a 26 page proposal for a project involving differences in spatial cognition between gender and environment of birth, a 43 page report on the effects of custodial grandparenting and the psychological development of the children, and exams in a few classes.
Also, the first thread is going to go a bit differently, in my attempt to kind of revamp how the RP tends to go. New forum, new way of playing!

Name: Ta
Side: Dark (well that's what people like to think)
Race: Half-(shadow)Demon from origin
Age: 53, 2 months, 3 weeks and 6 days
Appearance: Shoulder length dark hair, 5'6, but effectively much larger in stature due to different sizes and shapes of impeccably smooth, reflectively black armor, which covers her completely from toe to neck. Wears an almost cliche of a demonic helmet on and off.
Weapons: Pretty unusually large claymore, manifested armor of similar strength to steel, but with obvious magical properties.
Special Skill:
Shadow Manifestation: Despite being a half-demon, Ta's mastery of conjuring up incredibly light, and obnoxiously strong material from nowhere but simple shade is near flawless. Both with her trademark armor and other various abilities, such as blade extension, blazing fast, shapeshifting metal, and even creating simple trinkets of necessity or fancy.
Shadow Manipulation: Along with making real things out of shadow, Ta also has a the ability to make things that aren't real. Illusory control to the extreme as long as there's shadow's around to change. As far as the eye is concerned, Ta could be the master of the universe, as long as adequate shade is provided -- which she is very resourceful about making.
Narcolepsy: Though not a power, it is worth to note that through her own mistakes, Ta has been cursed to narcolepsy by a mischievous and powerful demon. Worse still, the narcolepsy seems to trigger a change of worldly perspective everytime she wakes up, making her volatile to have as an ally, despite her unusually gifted ability of the demon arts that dwarfs all other half-breeds, and even most full blooded demons in their respective skill. This power also tends to assure her lack of assassination while falling into narcoleptic slumber.
History: Ta was the spawn of an unfortunate incident between a Shadow demon leader and his insatiable taste for human women. She was raised in relative obscurity with her mother, mostly unaware of her heritage, until the warlord found himself in a territory dispute with other demon-kind. Wanting to bolster his forces, the demon went on a personal draft of the regions he spent so much time plundering, as he knew very well of the many illegitimate children he had fostered over the years
Of course, he happened upon Ta and her mother in their tiny village, taking Ta away from her mother at a terribly young age, before slaying her and the small village so that there'd be nothing to return to. Though embittered over the loss of her mother, Ta wasn't a stupid 12 year old, and knew there was nothing to gain from sacrificing herself in rage over the death of her mother.
Trained directly by her father along with many other long separated siblings, Ta honed her skills and picked up a talent for combat and the demon arts. She wished revenge on her father, as did most of her siblings, but the limitations of being a half-demon made purely into a foot soldier left her too weak. Several years of territory clashes left most of her siblings dead or indoctrinated -- completely incapable of punishing the old shadow warlord.
The combination of malevolence and talent was not just seen by her father, though. She was visited by an ancient demon, one who claimed to be from the era of Talkatz. Though he seemed the part, old, with a very odd and formal way of speaking, and scarred terribly from longs years, Ta was skeptical, as any demon that old would probably have better things to do than visit a weak half demon such as herself. Much to her surprise, he seemed to know every little desire she had -- thirst for power, vengeance over her father, and destruction of the entire shadow demon legion, and to do it with their own power. Ta was hanging on his words, but didn't know why or how he could grant this.
The old demon made his intent clear -- the reason he had lived so long despite his age and battle scars was due to a speciality of human kind -- their connection with Kami, the special inner ability that humans and, likewise half-demons hold. His life was now vampiric as the result of a ritual he performed long ago that allowed him to extract this essence and continue his life that should've, despite fatal injuries. He cared not for his vast demon powers, as he only feared death, and all the power in the world wouldn't help him escape the reaper. Ta became more skeptical, wondering why he'd seek her out as opposed to just taking it forcefully from humans -- a question no doubt brought from experience, but he explained why. The connection humans and half demons have with Kami is powerful, and cannot be forcefully taken away with ease. He found it much easier to create contracts with those who did not want or need this power, and the reason he sought her out specifically was her strength and situation -- the stronger the person, the stronger their will and influence over Kami, and half demons have strength and more motivation to give up their human granted powers.
Ta was torn. For one, the whole story seemed a bit ridiculous in scope. Secondly, she knew the hazard of making deals with devils, especially ones that emanated power as fiercely as he. Thirdly, even if she made the deal, would it be enough to take her revenge, or would she just be giving something up for vain hope? The wizened old demon chuckled at her problems, assuring her that he could end her father's life a thousand fold. But he knew that wasn't what she wanted and, frankly, he could care less about petty demon warlords. All he wanted was something she wasn't using, and in turn he would enhance her demonic abilities to an extent he deemed fit to carry on her goals.
Ta, desperate and vengeful, accepted his offer. The demon performed a ritual that was completely foreign to her, and she collapsed in agony as the demon tore the essence from her. The old monster chortled, happy to extend his life and invincibility a few years longer, and replaced the lost human energy with raw demonic power. Ta's already honed shadow abilities became enriched a hundred fold. The demon left her without so much as a parting word, completely uninterested in what she used her new powers for. The moment Ta awoke, she began her life's goal of tearing apart her Father's empire. Her exploits became famous -- one young half demon tearing apart an entire shadow demon dynasty(with a bit of help from their enemies, to be fair) did not go unnoticed by both demons and humans across the country. Months passed before she had done away with the remains of what she now considered her father's pathetic regency. She had finally chased him down and slew him, realizing that despite his reputation and fear, he was weaker to her than her mother was to him. She was disgusted by his weakness, but content that her life's goal was complete.
But Ta's burden did not end there. The demon's ritual had cursed him long ago with dependence on mortals for the power of immortality, and Ta's curse was similarly fitting, dooming her with tiredness and indecisiveness. Contrary to all her years of focus and intent for revenge, she was now damned to pass out erratically and awaken with different a different goal in life everytime. She had lived her life with one mission in mind, and is now lucky to live a week with any such thing. Because of this, her reputation has made her an unusual friend and enemy to all. Forces are happy to take her in for her power, but fear when, or even if she might pass out and awaken to turn on them.
Despite being both a famous demon hunter, and dually a notorious demon, Ta finds herself siding with Team Dark after her last dream brought her to want Talkatz reborn, due to gossip of the ancient demon when she awoke from an unscheduled nap in a demon's bar. It's only a matter of time before that changes, though, and everyone on team dark is aware.
Extra: So yeah, her deal is she's unusually powerful for even a demon, much less a half-demon (destroying dynasties is a hobby!), but is unreliable as both an ally and a fighter. The only reason she hasn't died yet is that, despite being cursed with narcolepsy, she sleeps very lightly and covered in armor. Most attempts on her life fall short there and wake her up. Ya don't won't to wake her up, or abandon her when she's asleep, as she's most susceptible to alignment change as soon as she wakes up, and if she wakes up mad at you, then you're in trouble. Her memory is fine, but she can't control her worldly view whenever she wakes up from a nap. Ridiculous curses are the best kind of curses.

Narcolepsy has nothing to do with her being sleepy, purely magic based curse that just makes her fall over. If you make her go to sleep she won't go all spazzy alignment change cuz it's the curse that does that.
That said, she has no particular resistance to sleeping in the first place, so have at it!

The point I was making is that Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder (Unless you meant to use a different word for the effect you're trying to convey). If your character was predisposed to fall asleep at the drop of a hat... Then my character would probably TRY to take advantage of it if he learned about it. (My character itself, not me the player, although I might try once or twice or if I end up in deep shit)
Of course, if you mean that your body just practically drops dead as if you were sleeping due to sudden muscle weakness, then that's Cataplexy.
Thanks Wikipedia!

Special Skills:
Diamond Body Discipline: Through a hellish training regime, Yoshitsune has achieved a supernatural level of physical prowess. His skin and muscles as well as his bones are far tougher than high quality steel and his strength and speed are comparable to those of high level demons specializing on physical combat. A side effect of this discipline is the creation of an iron will, needed to overcome the pain and weariness of prolonged training.
Hey man I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't really think you can finangle 3 really good powers into one power. If you notice most people in this thread either pick one of High Class Demon level super strength, speed, or durability and you've got all three here. Being impossible to hurt, as strong as the strongest among us, and as fast as someone who dedicates a whole slot to superspeed is really pushing it, especially if you're a human.
Like, having skin that's tougher than Steel makes you practically invulnerable to anyone who's using, go figure, steel weaponry. Adding more stuff on top of that is basically just making yourself superman without flight.

Plus, he's got four other special skills. Most people only have two or three. He's got five, with one of them being three skills crammed into one. That's seven skills.

You can have your martial arts powers all together as one generic set of power with versatility. A magical style is sort of one power. Then you can pick whichever one of really strong, really durable, or really fast you want, but none of those are going to be to a ridiculous extreme because powers like that usually take two slots (see Batgirl) -- level of "high class demon" is fair. If you wanted to, you could have above average in everything, where you're a reasonable bit stronger, faster, and more durable than your regular "skilled warrior" human. Think in the line of Jack of All trades or Master of One per power.
Not trying to crack your bones over this, just giving you the general set up.

Nah, it's cool. But, I'm gonna go ahead and take the risk of looking more like a douche here. Yes, I went overboard and I once again apologize, but don't you think you guys are nerfing my character a bit much? Comparatively speaking, there are characters that can easily cleave through stone with barely visible wires, create anything or make people believe they are monkeys just as long as there's shadow present or instantly and limitlessly teleport around with no limitations. Since you presented Batgirl's character as an example, it says she can manifest her wind magic in a variety of ways, then she lists a few. If those are the limits of her powers, then I misunderstood, but if they're not, that means she has godlike speed AND the ability to potentially create huge tornadoes or hyper concentrated blasts of air pressure.
I'm perfectly willing to remove all fictional martial arts skills such as being able to cut things with my character's hands as well as the uber strength and speed but given the general power of other characters, I don't think it's too unreasonable to at least let me keep the uber durability
EDIT: OR, I could have above average in all stats like you said with my arms being as durable as steel. Just my arms.
Mesden
05-23-2010, 06:29 PM
Haha I'm overpowered because I have a completely impractical and debilitating curse, so referencing me isn't gonna help.
The main point was, there are lots of people in the RP who have a whole slot dedicated to any one super attribute, like speed, strength, or durability, and any of them would rank in that "high class demon who specializes in X combat skills" that you quite clearly spelled out you were better than.
Point is, if you're gonna have three buffed traits for one slot, you're gonna have to clear it with the GM for a good reason, or you're not going to be stronger/faster/more durable than someone who has one slot dedicated to one of those powers.
PS: That power seems fine to me, but it's kind of up to Raiden.

Er, in my own defense, the wind powers are really all devoted to her speed. The masking her scent is kind of a passive thing that really isn't helpful unless she's sneaking around, more to add to her back story then to make a special power out of it. As for the gusts of wind, did I say tornadoes? No, I said gusts of wind. The strongest that those would get would be to knock someone over, not fling them over the countryside or anything. That's it, no more wind powers after that. I've been in this roleplay for many of its' incarnations, and I've never had a problem.

I was very specific in saying what I can do, and left things open for the less obvious things I can do, just to make sure I didn't just hop up with new magical superpowers whenever I felt like it.
For instance, my second power (ignoring flight) is the ability to sharpen my sword with my will, and say that with enough Willpower I can cut through anything.
...Anything is somewhat vague, and it depends on how long this RP goes before my character starts thinking more abstractly about what "anything" means and starts cutting non-physical concepts.
Genkai: Looks like we have a long journey ahead of us to the nearest temple, so keep up your strength. We should be there in about a month's time."
Pyros: Nah. ZANSHIN! *Cuts time with his sword*
Genkai: Well, we're here, I hope all that training we did on the way pays off!
Suzume: What training? Pyros made us time-skip here! I have no idea what I've been doing for the last few weeks! Man, I am so pissed off!"
Pyros: ZANSHIN! *cuts anger*.
Suzume: Pyros, you a'ight. Bro-hug!
