View Full Version : Let's Suck at Megaman
Megaman 1 Part One - NonCon and Mirai (http://www.viddler.com/explore/NonCon/videos/35/) (Wherein Livestream is the WORST THING)
Megaman 1 Part Two - NonCon and Darren (http://www.viddler.com/explore/NonCon/videos/36/)
Megaman 1 Finale - NonCon, Mirai, and Darren (http://www.viddler.com/explore/NonCon/videos/37/) (Wherein the game lags me to death repeatedly)
Going to just beat as many Megaman games as we can. Hopefully all ten of the original series. Also, we won't be using Livestream anymore. We'll be using Ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/gamepad-dojo). That should take care of most any lag that was causing problems before. We may be recording another episode in an hour or so. This time it'll be Mirai on Megaman 2.

Oh man Mirai should totally play Rockman 2 NETA afterwards. ESPECIALLY if he's never heard of it before. Lemme see if I can't find a spoiler-free link, or else just send it directly to you guys...
*Goes searching*
But no seriously Neta is a thousand times better if you don't know what it is.

Do you even know what it is?
Also, you guys don't suck nearly as bad as I do at megaman!

I still died a little on the inside watching the first half hour of you the first video.
Like... man... who thought doing Iceman first was a good idea?
ICE STAGE IS ALWAYS THE FIRST STAGE!
My most recent Megaman memories that aren't of 9 are of the X series, and with I think one exception, if there was an ice stage that was what you did first. Chill Penguin. Blizzard Buffalo. Etc. For some reason I imagined that rule applied to Megaman 1 as well.
The really frustrating thing about the finale of Megaman 1 for me was that I got to the point where although I'd still died a fair amount, I could beat Wily's Castle without many problems. Then when it was finally time to record it, my computer lagged to the point of implosion and ruined all my practice.
I can't wait to do Megaman 9.
EDIT: Oh yeah. If anyone wants to join us in an episode, just PM me your Skype info, and I'll try and give you a heads up about when we'll be recording.

As someone who's played the classic megaman's WAY too much, this should be really entertaining. Best of luck, with 1 out of the way it shouldn't be so bad for you guys from here on out.

Speroni keeps telling me that the fourth game is going to kick my ass. D:
Also, I tried to practice the third game today. Top Spin is the worst Megaman power ever.

He's probably right.
After all, the first game has been.

Rockman 2 Neta d/l (http://sapporo.cool.ne.jp/kuniokun/Rockman2Neta.zip)
You must play this on camera first, no peaking before. Controls are a bit weird, so here's the defaults:
the default keys are Y, B, G and J for up, down, left and right, A and S for the A and B buttons, D for select and Q for start.
To make itself easier, you can use something like joy2key or whatever. EDIT: You can edit the keys pretty much right after opening the game.
Also no spoiling.
Actually, Julford already sent me a download link, and Mirai agreed to doing it. This is going to be fantastic.

YEESSSSSSSSSS.
I request a live show and/or that I be present on Skype when it happens :3:
Assuming, of course, I ever figure out how to make the built-in mike on this lappy work.
We intend for them all to be live shows. If you want a better way of knowing when we'll be doing an episode, you can follow my Twitter (http://twitter.com/NonConNeko). I'll usually tweet ahead of time, or talk to Mirai about doing an ep via Twitter.
And yeah, if you can get your mic working or find another mic to do the trick, you are more than welcome to join in.

Top Spin is useful twice, otherwise stick to like, Shadow Star...
I've been trying to beat all the games in my Mega Man Anniversary Collection and I am pretty much convinced at this point that 4 is going to take me like a decade to beat without cheating because I've been playing it off and on for like three months and have yet to beat more than like 3 of the bosses. Since Wily's Castle is always the point where I just about want to stop in all the other games, this does not bode well for my actual completion of Mega Man 4, since it is apparently going to be harder than this stupid Ring Man stage man I hate you Ring Man you and your fucking rainbow bridges god I hate you.
And here I thought Megaman games were only medium in difficulty. I'm looking forward to see, how you're gonna play Megaman 2.
The third game, should overall be easier than the first. What with the slide and all. But I trust your "competence" will make for an interesting watch.
Also, hi I'm a new guy around these parts of the internet.

The third game's easier in general, but it's about 90x bullshittier with its checkpoints.

Ehh, the 4th game's fine. Aside from the boss order all you really need to know is that the charge shot is worth 3 normal shots (as with all of them), so it's really only very useful on bosses. If you play better with out holding it in you're not missing out on anything. Aside from that Drill man is a jerk with a slightly annoying level. And as for the Ring man comment: slide for the rainbow platforms, jump at the last big of the ring ones and you should be fine.
It's a little sad that I can just rattle that stuff off without even looking anything up.
I actually had the 3rd and 4th game as a kid, but the 4th are not all the memorable to me. But that's probaly because the 3rd game involved a powerup, where you could fist your enemies to death... In a non homoerotical way ofcourse.

Honestly, from what I've played, everyone sucks at NETA.
I think I killed maybe one boss before I gave up.

Seriously though 4 is hard, I have trouble making jumps in Skull Man's stage and Dive Man's stage is just annoying enough to make you hate it. There's also some jump I can't make in Drill Man's stage.
This comes from spending too much time playing 2 and 3, they are apparently the wimpiest parts of the series (although this may be why they are so popular!).
EDIT: As for Megaman 2 starting with Bubble Man is okay I guess but I usually do Metal Man first for some reason. For one thing his weapon is one of the best in the game to actually use in the levels, though for some reason I always just used the mega buster for everything but bosses, which probably increased the difficulty.
Bubble Man is easy to beat with the mega buster too, though.
ANOTHER EDIT: Wow you really do suck! This is the first time I've gotten exactly what someone promised! :D

It occurs to me I've never played the NES MegaMan games before. Perhaps I should, but I'd have to work out a way to, er, obtain a NES and record it. I'll abstain from the videos already posted in here for now, heh.

About NETA freezing during the one fight; it's a glitch where Flashman dies during his time freezing attack. Basically he got hit by your Crashman weapons' explosion until it killed him. Quick Man exploding was because ANY Flashman weapon (The time freezing thing) usage hurts him, even from Flashman himself.
Also, you managed to glitch the ending by pulling up the weapon menu. It's supposed to take you to some joke credits and then back to the menu.

I've been practicing while waiting for our schedules to sync up just right for another episode, and I have to say... What? Game is crazy easy. To be honest, I got the secret items, which apparently Matt didn't even know existed, but with the exception of a couple bosses, this game really isn't that hard.

Man I can't believe you're having trouble with 2 if you can beat 4 so easily...it's a conundrum.

This thread made me realize that I suck at Megaman.
Just trying to get through any level with spikes on the ceiling is enough to lower my self esteem, not to mention always failing the boss fights.
Then again, my life long total playtime of Megaman series is about half an hour, so I take it as a success I ever got to any boss in the first place.
Let's Suck at Megaman 3: Part One (http://www.viddler.com/explore/NonCon/videos/41/)
Featuring Darren!
Also, going to see if I can con my entire D&D group into joining for a recording tomorrow or Wednesday. That'd be three to five people besides myself. (Probably too many but whatever)
