So I was flipping through the channels on TV and I came across a show on MTV that I assumed was an episode of Jackass that I had missed. Then some crazy **** started happening. And I mean way beyond the standards of Jackass crazy. I kept watching and I found out that these were The Dudesons.

That guy just fell through a collapsing building.
My coworker falls playing basketball, breaks his ankle, and takes a month out of work.

Are these the guys who like lined up and then let someone hammer a nail through each of their airlobes into a two-by-four and then they were all attached by their left ear to the same two-by-four as they screamed in pain? For some reason possibly equated to "entertainment"?

I just don't understand the appeal. With Jackass it was funny cause they were all jerks who were just injuring themselves. But these guys might actually die doing this crap.

I totally am; super-secret undercover. Hiding behind the indentity of Comic Sans!
Oster? Just how popular are these guys?
Well they had/have their own TV-show which was on for atleast several years. Maybe it still is, I don't know 'cause I don't watch TV anymore. In any case, they are popular enough that most people know who they are.
I just don't understand the appeal. With Jackass it was funny cause they were all jerks who were just injuring themselves. But these guys might actually die doing this crap.
And these guys aren't actually such jerks as the Jackass guys, I guess they just like doing it a bit too much.

Shh, no revealing secret identities!
EDIT: Seeing as Seil thought I was a mod all this time, I wish I would've known so I could've abused that.
EDIT2: To post something relevant to the original topic aswell, I do believe they are actually called the 'Duudsons' (duudsonit) rather than 'Dudesons'.

Nah, if you tried to pull any shenanigans on me it wouldn't work. I'd treat you with the same amount of respect I treat any authority on here: none. My naivety and noted pacifism are just empty words and hollow shells. One day, there may be a time when I remove these garbs and unleash my true, hate filled malice upon each of you, but that day has yet not come.
But know that none will be spared my bright pink wrath.

Will you nail their earlobes to two-by-fours or set them on fire?
I never really found Jackass that entertaining, actually. It just seemed kind of dumb because there was no object to their pain other than to see them in pain.

If you watch one episode of Viva La Bam you'll find it a lot more enjoyable when that prick gets hurt.

Yeah Viva La Bam was enjoyable for it's theatricality, building up this myth that he does all these things 24/7 365. It had characters with personalities, it had a story. One day they are going to the mall of America, another day they are screwing around with Civil War reenactors.
Jackass on the other hand was just a collection of stunts performed by people I never got to know to hurt themselves, at random. They are very different shows.

Two things about Viva La Bam:
1.) Practically everybody on that show was an unrepentant @$$hole.
2.) Practically everybody on that show was also on Jackass.
Enjoyment factor goes through the roof when you know that they deserved a lot of what happened to them.

I dunno, Jackass to me seemed to mainly consist of a bald guy named "Steve-O" getting the shit beat out of him and I never saw him on Viva La Bam...

I'll give you that. I think he and Pontius were off filming Wild Boys at the same time as Viva La Bam.
You know, I generally try to think that there's good in people, that everyone is doing something for their own reasons other than just to be spiteful or rude. Here's Bam Margera's wiki article:
Margera was previously engaged to Jenn Rivell, a divorced single mother six years his senior. Rivell played a prominent part in several of his projects and the couple appeared to be co-habiting in various episodes of Viva La Bam. However, the relationship ended in 2005. In November, 2006, Margera filed for "Protection From Abuse" from Rivell after she allegedly broke into his house. He further alleged that Rivell had exhibited irrational and aggressive behavior towards him on several previous occasions including stealing several computers and vandalizing his house immediately after their initial breakup. The judge dismissed the allegations as "speculative" and "hearsay".[21] Their break-up was attributed to rumors Margera had slept with pop star Jessica Simpson, which Margera initially denied before admitting they had been "intimate".[21] Margera reasserted that nothing untoward had happened after he and Simpson met at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2006.[22]
Margera currently resides in "Castle Bam", a large house in Wawaset, Pennsylvania. The house has a gothic theme, a skatepark in the driveway and is situated on 14 acres (57,000 m2) of land. In January 2007, Margera built a ramp in his backyard, near the old casino seen in Viva La Bam. The ramp itself caused trouble with the township.[23] Margera's parents and select members of the CKY Crew lived in the house while shooting Viva La Bam, with Margera's uncle residing in a house on the property.
Margera later became engaged to childhood friend Melissa "Missy" Rothstein. The events leading up to their wedding (with about 350 friends and family in attendance) on February 3, 2007, in downtown Philadelphia was chronicled on the MTV series Bam's Unholy Union. The couple's honeymoon was in Dubai. After the wedding, Margera was forced to pay $13,000 for damage done to the hotel. Bam is quoted as saying "I was kind of ready for it though. I was like: 'I’m inviting the Jackass crew. If something doesn’t get broken then that’s not right'."[24]
In an October 24, 2007 interview with the Cleveland Free Times, Margera stated that although he had completed paperwork that would legally change his first name to Bam, he was "still debating" filing it after a conversation with his father.[2]
In July 2009, Margera was taken to the hospital by paramedics and state troopers from his West Chester home after his wife Missy called 911 after a four day alcohol binge.[25][26] On the drinking binge, Margera said "I may get a divorce . . . booze helps."[25] Subsequently, Bam started taking antidepressants and seeing a counselor to save his marriage.
On the same side of the coin, there's a woman named Pink who is stereotyped as being a loud-mouth party girl singing punk:
Personal life
[edit] Marriage
Pink met professional motocross racer Carey Hart at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia.[39] Hart had previously been screened in Pink's early music video clip "Just Like a Pill." In 2005, Pink proposed to Hart during a Mammoth Lakes, California motocross race by holding up a "Will you marry me?" sign on his pit board. On the other side was written "I'm Serious!".[40] They married in Costa Rica on January 7, 2006.[41]
After months of speculation, Pink's publicist, Michele Schweitzer, told People magazine on February 19, 2008, that the singer and Hart had separated.[42] "This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another", Schweitzer said.[43] The video for her 2008 hit "So What", in which Hart appears, deals with her separation and pending divorce.[44] In March 2009, Carey Hart revealed in an interview for SpeedFreaks that he and Pink were "dating".[45] Carey has also confirmed on Jason Ellis' Sirius XM radio show, Chelsea Lately, and The Best Damn Sports Show Period that he and Pink are attempting to work things out stating: "Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps back to move forward".[46] Pink has stated that the couple has gone to marriage counseling and have gotten back together. They were never legally divorced.[47]
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, on February 5, 2010, Pink confirmed that she and her husband, Carey were back together. She said the separation taught her not to try to change him and taught her that she also had to work on herself in order to save her marriage.
[edit] Sponsorships
[edit] PETA
Pink, a vegetarian, is a prominent campaigner for PETA, contributing her voice toward causes such as protesting against KFC. She sent a letter to Prince William criticizing him for fox hunting and one to Queen Elizabeth II protesting the use of real fur in the bearskins of the Foot Guards and the Honourable Artillery Company. In November 2006, Pink mentioned in the News of the World that she was disgusted with fellow singer Beyoncé for wearing fur. In conjunction with PETA, she criticized the Australian wool industry over its use of mulesing. In January 2007, she stated that she had been misled by PETA about mulesing and that she had not done enough research before lending her name to the campaign.[48] Her campaigning led to a headlining concert in Cardiff, Wales, UK, on August 21, 2007 called PAW (Party for Animals Worldwide).
[edit] Charity work
Pink is involved with many charities including "Phoenix vert",[49] Human Rights Campaign, ONE Campaign, Prince's Trust, New York Restoration Project, Run for the Cure Foundation, Save the Children, Take Back the Night, UNICEF and World Society for the Protection of Animals.[50] As of May 2008 Pink has been officially recognized as an advocate for the RSPCA in Australia. On February 16, 2009, Pink announced she was donating $250,000 to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal to aid the victims of the bushfires that swept through the Australian state of Victoria earlier that month (a total of 173 people died in the fires, with around 500 injured, and 4000 homes lost).[51] Pink stated that she wanted to make "a tangible expression of support".[52]
[edit] V8 Supercars Australia
Pink signed a three-year deal with V8 Supercars as an ambassador for the sport from 2010 to 2012, that includes an appearance in a television commercial.

Pink has never been in the news as far as I can remember, she is just a punk singer, not an actual punk like Bam Margera.
EDIT: "Fun House" is still a horrifically bad song, though.
