Hey, I only liked 4 of those. Does that mean I'm too old?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that after #42 it turns into a collection of local Canadian bands.

no hardcore, no fun.

why is the mosh gone?

I'd say there's no hope for me, but I know that's not true. It's simply a matter of them severely lacking in older bands from when music was, you know, good. I know Santana is on there, but I'm meh on him. Only five of those bands are ones I've ever heard of and I haven't heard any of Joan Jett's stuff.

Damn kids and your fancy music.

I barely recognize any of those bands.

Knowing my tastes in music (mainly Rock) though. I'll like at least half of them.

Have you ever seen a hardcore band in an outdoor festival in the summer? The sound is way too diffuse, the crowds aren't dense, and whatever meager attempts at uncoordinated moshing there are devolve into a bunch of sweaty people realizing that thrashing against each other in 85+ degree heat somehow isn't as sweet as it sounds.

The only one I care about is Joan Jett, and even then, barely.

Iron Maiden and Santana are seriously the only ones of those I'm sure I've even heard of. Do I win the too old prize?

I only recognise 3, and of them I only like Maiden. I just got back from Download though, Which had a much more awesome lineup (http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/).

Seil, there were so many BETTER choices for Great Big Sea. That's like, their most overplayed song.

When I'm up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnsXi0zBzoc&feature=related)
Ordinary Day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AvkyHCU7XU&feature=related)
Sea of No Cares (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNDNoxGU3vQ&feature=related)

See these are good songs by Great Big Sea.

Yes they also all sound very similar. It's because GBS is not a particularly original band, but a very, VERY Happy one.

It's not an "old" thing, IMO. I mean, I'm not even eighteen yet and I don't recognize most of these.

gotta disagree with the hardcore statement, hardcore shows are way worse inside in a cramped venue. At least outside theres air. Ive literally had to wring out my jeans from sweat after a have heart show in an overly packed bar and i wasnt even slamming/moshing/surfing that much. But then again thats half the fun.

Weezer actually does rather well. Alternative rock but a good band regardless.

And it was goddamned fun.

Hey this is basically hipster fest 2010, where everyone has a beard and is called ben.

But yeah it's pretty much all one genre. Iron Maiden is ok I guess though.

I don't understand the appeal of a mosh pit. Why join in on a crowd of people thrashing around? What's wrong with regular dancing? When did we replace dancing with getting a black eye?

It's an expressive release of aggressive energy, and there is actually a well-understood code of etiquette involved, though not everyone follows it. To put it simply, if you're throwing punches, you're a noob and will eventually be removed so that everyone else can go back to having a good time.

Loads of fun when I was 18, but I got most of the need for it out of my system after about a year or so of it.
