Beyond that, it's not reading into the author's intentions, but rather what their joke implies. That part of the joke chose to focus on "same-sex relationships," where simply "relationships" would have worked. Its reasoning for doing so was based on a mischaracterization of Dragon Age 2. The mischaracterization of Dragon Age 2 is steeped in homophobia.

In short: The image includes an overused joke founded on homophobia. There's no reason to include the joke other than homophobia. This is not to say that it's necessarily intentional homophobia, but that doesn't mean the homophobia isn't there.

What sucks about it exactly? I am legitimately wondering, because I have never played it and to me it really just seems like they are trying to bottle Mass Effect's lightning in a fantasy format.

It was rushed, leading to a very small number of environments. The graphics were pretty weak by modern standards. It changed the gameplay. The console version of DA:O had terrible gameplay. The console version of DA2 had mediocre action gameplay. DA2's is better, but it isn't great. As for the PC version, it sounds like they changed the camera angle and made the combat faster, but kept the bulk of it largely the same, but fans of Origins didn't like the more action-game feel of the combat or something?

It was also a story driven by the interactions of characters and factions and the personal quests of various players, which it did REALLY well, but I guess most people would rather have an overarching storyline about defeating Sauron. I can understand wanting a more clear overarching plot to tie everything together, but that doesn't mean DA2's story was bad. It was just a different kind of story.

In short: It is legit bad in some ways, meh in others, and DIFFERENT from the original in yet others, meaning even what it does well the audience is biased against.

Which after DAO and ME1 and 2 and it's relative contemporary Fallout New Vegas came off particularly badly.


Oh and that the Bioware "romances" were more cringe worthy than ever. Which is saying something.

There was incredibly limited enemy types, poorly designed encounters which rendered the combat system, already shittier than it's predecessor (though at it's core probably still okay) a complete chore, terrible graphics, bogglingly terrible visual design for practically everything and everyone, embarrassing animation and criminal reuse of assets.

Literally the only things in the game that were above mediocre were
-representation of minorities. As long as you clung strongly to death of the author and ignored the lead designer calling the Quanari Islamic Borg amongst other things.
- voice acting.

Not to be super-hardcore, I-am-a-robot-and-have-no-feelings, crawling-in-my-skin, but, yeah, I totally did. It's a completely perfect existence snuffed out by a completely evil world because the world didn't understand how perfect it was. It's basically cat-Jesus. I'm embarrassed that I ever cared, which I'm aware reflects poorly on my character, both then and now. I'll cry over my own dead cats.

Mostly, though, I thought I'd get something like Nedroid's tumblr, where it's mostly his stupid crap with occasional interludes of other people's original, stupid crap. Instead I got nothing but re-blogged, older than the internet gifs, and "You cry, you lose." It's like opening a can of soup, but the can's full of beads. Beads have their use, but I'm trying to make soup, here. A label that said the can was full of beads or how to make soup from beads would have been appreciated.

I dunno I just found her right about when she was playing FF6 so there was art around. If you have tumblr you can just search for FF6 related tags so you just get a lot of FF6 stuff.

Except that stars have lifespans in the billions of years, and the furthest individual stars we can see with the naked eye are I think less than 4 000 light years away. And also, astronomers can have a pretty good idea of when a star is about to die - I recall the next scheduled supernova is a star about 500 light years away that may explode sometime in the next 500 years.

So, yes, that particular star may be gone any day, and then we won't know until 500 years later, but I don't think it's one of the 10 or 20 brightest stars that you're likely to see first on a given night.

There's I think an interesting philosophical question here however. Is a star truly dead when it's still apparently shining? Is death faster than the speed of light? We can apply the question to more mundane conditions: If you see a person die, they'll appear to you alive for a fraction of a millisecond after their death, and you won't know that they are dead. They are, for all practical purposes, alive to you; their life can continue to affect yours, your actions can be colored by what you think they think of you, all that sort of thing. Even if they are dead in their own perception (or more precisely, no longer have perception), their life continues from the perspective of an outside observer. I propose that Terry Pratchett is wrong: Death is relative.

I don't know if I'm more impressed by how easily he was able to punch through plastic, the fact that he was seriously scared enough to punch the monitor, the fact that he doesn't have a scratch on his hand or arm after doing that, or the fact that this hasn't became a meme yet.

There are different guys on all the covers, though I like to imagine that the stories themselves are all about the same guy.

His name is Manfred Harrison, globetrotting adventurer/quasi-scientist/interpol agent. When he was born, he was already master of two forms of combat and came out locked in a mortal struggle with his twin brother Ashley, who grew up to be evil. In his college years, he was cursed by a local shaman after destroying the man's begonias during a roughhousing session with a puma. From then on, he was randomly attacked by packs of beasts and he can't be within two feet of a woman without them fainting. As an adult, he travels the world, tracking down international criminals and searching for a cure for his curse. The amount of money he spends on shirts is unbelievable. He battled cancer once. Cancer lost.
