I'll tell you what are two godawful commercials;

1 : The latest smut from Carls Jr (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB2MDYzx5OY) (warning, I guess? Contains bikini)

So, first off I'm not strictly opposed to using sex appeal in an ad. I just think it's misplaced in a commercial for big disgusting burgers so I have to ask how many people are A) going to find it sexy and B) how exactly it's going to draw attention to your product.

But then ok so there's this skinny bikini model with a blank look on her face, uh, rolling around on the beach eating a burger, that's basically it. Good for her that she enjoys a burger every now and then but shouldn't someone your target audience can identify with be enjoying that burger? Carls Jr, as someone who basically represents your target audience exactly and is extremely susceptible to advertising, I don't get it and your commercials aren't really pulling me away from McDonalds as my default fast food choice. Sorry!

2 : Dockers 'No Pants (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nys0i_FRjTI)' ad.

Here's a company making fun of the demographic it's trying to sell something too. Good luck with that guys! Also, I find your attempt at humor boring. I mean, THIS is your Superbowl ad? Eh.

The best commercials are not for English I'm afraid. Swedish fruit drink Mer did a series of ads in the nineties based on how it was the world's most wonderful and awesome thing ever and the idea of changing it (mostly by adding CO2) was so terrifying the end of the world would seem preferrable. Mankind, as one, trembled at the danger of it happening, laughed when it didn't and gasped in outrage as comedians joked about it.
