When Spiderman reboots (in 3D...) he will be the one wearing the costume.

Mainly a TV actor (Doctor Who) and a few other shows and movies, but hey... Toby was somewhat unknown before spidey too.

So, what you guys think? Can noobie pull it off? Also his neck is huge.

Is there anything to back this up?
I hope they do something with his hair.

I STILL think Topher Grace would have made a better Spider-man than Tobey Mcquire

and from Wikipedia

In May 2010, the list of actors to play Spider-Man included Jamie Bell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Bell), Josh Hutcherson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Hutcherson), Frank Dillane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Dillane#Personal_life), Alden Ehrenreich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alden_Ehrenreich) and Andrew Garfield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Garfield). However, in June 2010 the Los Angeles Times (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_Times) reported that the shortlist has expanded to include Aaron Johnson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Johnson_%28actor%29) and Anton Yelchin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Yelchin).[49] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man_%28film_series%29#cite_note-48) The final shortlist was reported to also include Logan Lerman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan_Lerman) and Michael Angarano (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Angarano). On June 27, 2010, the final and confirmed short list was announced. Jamie Bell (Flags of Our Fathers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_Our_Fathers_%28film%29)), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_%28film%29)), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kick-Ass_%28film%29)), Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Imaginarium_of_Doctor_Parnassus)), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Jackson_%26_the_Olympians:_The_Lightning_Thi ef)), and Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetro)) are all on it. On July 1, 2010, it was officially confirmed that the role will go to Andrew Garfield.

I already like the new guy better than Maguire but I would rather have had someone younger.

Oh, nice. He was pretty good in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I'd much prefer him over some of the others (esp. Lerman or Hutcherson).

Ugh. Really? No.

He made a terrible Eddy Brock because he was made to play an emotionally unstable Peter Parker. I really think he would make a good Pete because he very much came across as a Peter Parker who didn't get hugged enough, so, Add hugs, Good Spider-man.
Plus, he has the voice I always imagine Spider-man having.

If I recall correctly (though I probably am not), Topher really sounds like the Peter Parker from the 1994 Spider-Man cartoon.

If it was between those two, I'd have chosen Topher as well. He at least has decent sitcom banter chops (and his character on 70's Show is basically Parker anyway) while you can sometimes literally measure the mopiness in Tobey's quips.

And if we can't have Donald Glover, can we at least get a Mary Jane played by Allison Brie?

I'm still kinda annoyed they rebooted it. I wanted to see Carnage in Spider-Man 4!

After what they did to Venom? Really?

I am disappointed that Dylan Baker will never get to play the Lizard now. I mean, that's the only reason he agreed to play Conners in movies 2 and 3! Waste of time for him, really. It's like Billy Dee Williams playing Harvey Dent!

You made him even cooler?

Really?

Yes.

I am fucking tired of reboots. Just do what Hulk did. The shitty movie happened but you just move on and tie it into the rest of the Marvel Movie Universe.

Incredible Hulk was totally a reboot. It just wasn't another origin story. There were plenty of outright contradictions with Ang Lee's Hulk.

I can't remember if they've said whether this new Spider-Man will be an origin story or not. I'm hoping not, as it's wholly unnecessary at this point.

But people need to know how he gots his powers!

I mean, what is he a mutant, super-soldier?

The people have a right to know sir, and to not do an Origin story is outright Censorship!

Here's how they should solve the origin story thing is to just have Peter acknowledge how he got his powers right at the start and do a quick little flash back. Just like the new Hulk film did and how the Spectacular Spider-Man opened up.

So what are they going to call this one? I hope they end up using "The Spectacular Spider-Man" as the title but I'd settle for "Amazing."

I'd kinda think they'd go for "Amazing", just to avoid confusion with the recent cartoon.

I remember back before 2 came out, there was talk that it was going to be called "The Amazing Spider-Man", and that 3 would be "Spectacular", and so on. Woulda' been a bit more interesting, but I guess now they can use it to differentiate continuities...
