If I wanted to create a RP session in a thread here based on my system (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=38294), what are good ways for keeping track of everything?

It's sort of grid based so is that a problem for combat or are there good ways to modify this for forum-use?

I've basically never GM'd before so, pointers are helpful.

Grid based will be probably difficult for forum use. The only way that would work is if you keep an updated picture active with the locations of the characters and have them tell you what grid section they move to.

The best bet is have it like DnD, have a Grid of 5'x5' for yourself and track the movement based on the characters having a movement speed of feet.

Not sure what to use for tracking that would work, but we use Excel if we have to leave without finish combat to record where everyone was during the combat. There might be better things out there, but Excel's easy enough as you can easily edit and change the sections of the 'grid'.

As for setting it up, just create a sign up thread and have people create their characters.

I wouldn't do it for a few weeks though. OC has an RP, IHMN has an RP, Teal will be making one within a few days (Sign-ups are mostly concluded) and Arhra will be opening up sign-ups for one probably later tonight.

In other words most of the RPers are already in 2-4 RPs so you probably won't get too many takers right at this moment.

Alternatively you could do it ASAP and if you don't get enough people just do it again in a few weeks.

Keeping track of the grid would really only matter during combat but it is VERY important in stratedgy/abilities so I might give it a whirl with a small-ish image I just update every round or whatever and hope that most battles are quick.

Thanks for the heads up Krylo. I will organize a bit on my end first and try it in 2-4 weeks.
