She's suddenly dropped Manga and Anime for a bunch of DC titles. I didn't think I'd ever see her more into comics than me but here we are and she's buying stuff I've never heard of or had any interest in at all.
What do I steer her away from? The last thing I want is a box full of crappy comics.

If the DC titles are the Blackest Night Green Lantern stuff, she's fine.
Otherwise,
Divorce her.

Just be thankful she's not addicted to Jersey Shore.

Sounds like what she really needs is an exorcism.

Just make sure she stays away from Superman, Wonder Woman, Teen Titans, Batman, Robin, Green Lantern, Justice League, Justice Society, Supergirl, anything by JT Krul, anything by James Robinson, anything by Adam Beechen, anything from Gail Simone that isn't Secret Six, anything to do with Blackest Night, anything to do with Brightest Day, and all the other terrible comics I'm forgetting.
Secret Six is sort of okay! And that Batwoman comic that's gonna be coming out, that might be all right.
Killing Joke was a pretty fantastic Joker story. Make her read that.
(I think that's actually the only DC comic I've read, unless Watchmen was DC)

Blackest Night is awesome and is pretty much the only DC reading to allow her.
Show her some Marvel. Show her X-Men.
Do not show her Ultimate universe anything. If you do, fuck you. That shit DID NOT HAPPEN.

No need to waste the effort; Any comic in which Barbara Gordan makes an appearance will cover it.

Correct!
Make her read Kingdom Come which is fucking fantastic and red Son is good if you like candy!
Oh man, if she hasn't she needs to watch Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. That movie is so ace.

Marvel is easy right now it's like, nothing that says Spider Man in the title, nothing that says Ultimate anywhere on the cover, everything else is somewhere between "ehhhhhh it's aihgt" and "**** YES"

You know I think that I can be cool with anything at all comic-wise and I could even deal with Ultimate for the most part despite it being terrible until we hit Cable is Future Wolverine! and at about that point I actually just gave away a stack of Ultimates to my roommate who used them in the fireplace to start flames.

I think the worst part of Ultimates (and this is me going by TV tropes and Atop the Fourth Wall) is the fact they upped the squick factor by having Quicksilver bang Scarlet Witch! :crying:
There is no amount of Brain Bleach that will clean me.

See, I'm kinda glad that I know, like, NOTHING about non-everybody-knows-these-guys comic book heroes, aside from a couple names here and there. Otherwise, that information may have hurt my head.

The thing that bothers me most about the Ultimate line is how it seems as though recent writers have decided that the only thing that had to be dropped from it was the only thing that made it even remotely interesting: the idea that it was a reimagining of the original, and not just a GRIMMIER, GRITTIER rethreading.
For example: hippy, ambiguous Thor with an electric axe-hammer appears to have become regular Thor but with the shallow darkness of the Ultimate series tarnishing the character.
It looks as though the movies (Iron Man first and now Thor possibly with a subplot about his divinity being in question) retain more of the Ultimate tweaking of the characters that the books themselves.

We're way into DC media - Anything in the DCAU Diniverse/Timmiverse.
She's reading 'Legion' as in 'Legion of Superheros' which, I dunno :/ ...I'm having her read all my old graphic Novels - Batman/Superman, Red Son, Kingdom Come. Teen Titans was pretty good for a while but I mean, this is all stuff I was collecting between 2003 and 2005 I have no idea what's going on in DC that isn't terrible these days.
I mean... why is Bruce Wayne dead again? or not dead?

You are a bad, bad man.

in all honesty, as near as I can figure, Brucey is (dead?) so they'd have a kick-ass and horrifying black lantern Batman. Which was actually a batman clone but it managed to screw with the audience to see "Oh man batman is a BAD GUY wait this happened before didn't it oh look clone."

Seriously though read Annihilation - read Nova - read Annihilation Conquest - read Guardians of the Galaxy - read War of Kings - read Thanos Imperative, then say "thank you Fifth for pointing me towards the best, most ballinest Space Epical megastory in all of comics probably ever"; read Planet Hulk, read World War Hulk so that you can read Incredible Hercules, read Prince of Power, read the Immortal Iron Fist series, read Thor, read Fantastic Four since Jonathan Kirkman started writing it, read Captain Britain and the MI:13, read S.W.O.R.D., read ugh goddamn I forget what other good as fuck Marvel comics you should be reading because there are so goddamn many of them.

I'm surprised. Civil War had me thinking that marvel was on their deathbed, creativly. Civil War was good but megaevents are always followed by not so good comics for a while. But apparently Spider-Man is taking care of that currently.

Annihilation was like, while Marvel was busy shitting out Civil War someone snuck behind Joe Quesada's back and put out the awesomest fucking event comic in event comics history, the standard by which all event comics should be judged from now until the end of time, which itself went on to spawn a long-ass line of awesome comics.
CW itself was shit but a lot of the things that happened around the periphery of it or came out of it which were pretty ace whereas at DC you had Infinite Crisis which was shit and then every single thing after it for the last six years which has also all been shit.
Like you had Civil War but then you had everyone in the Marvel Universe get to punch Tony Stark in the face and call him an asshole and then eventually Norman Osborne took over Shield and basically became King Clownface McAsshole and everyone in the Marvel Universe got to take a turn basically punching him in the nuts and then taking a shit on his face and from there on Marvel on balance manages to be more or less good again and oh god I am just nerdsperging soooo hard right now, god damn.

I was interested in them train-wrecking all the nicey-nice relationships between Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-Man even though I didn't like that they were ruining the 'Avengers' just as I was becoming really interested in 'Spider-Man: He is on a team'
Maybe that was just out of sheer morbidity though. The Civil War main series itself was about the Young Justice Avengers or some other such morons blowing up a school and some other stuff I didn't really care about.

I am convinced, and nobody can ever sway me from this, that Civil War was an excuse to kill the marriage. That was the only thing CW was used for.

Between Marvel and their readers?
HEY-O!
But um, if you're talking Spider-Man that mess happened post-Civil War for pretty unrelated reasons they retroactivly tied in. That's the impression I got anyway.

Still blaming Civil War.
Had Spidy not taken off his mask, he would not be the target of an assassin, which would mean that old bat Aunt May would still be alive, which would mean there is no STUPID FUCKING DEAL WITH MEPHISTO!

Nah, Quesada was always going to get rid of Spider-Man and replace him with his alternate-universe devil-worshipping Spider-Man, if Civil War hadn't gone down he would've just come up with some other incredibly stupid way to do that.

The last Marvel thing I read was the limited Deadpool series Suicide Kings which was pretty great but kind of gory.
As for DC, I can only really recommend graphic novels since the regular series are pretty bad. And Gotham Central, of course, but you'd have to order those.
