Now I wholly expect the first few posts of... Who am I kidding, most of this thread to devolve into something like "kesha sucks amirite?" but this isn't about musicians who are bad, just musicians who aren't that great singers.

We've talked about Bob Dylan in the Watchmen threads a bit, and some people brought up the idea that though he's brilliant, his voice isn't anything to write home about. A few people suggested Leonard Cohen to me, but Leonard Cohen is awesome so I have no idea what they're smoking.

Which musicians do we love, but don't have much of a singing voice? )And don't bring up anything metal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGv57QtMytI) 'cause singing is just fine for that genre.)

Bomb the Music Industry!'s Jeff Rosenstock. I know he's intentionally singing worse here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzc3Xk3ECn8), and it's all the better for it, but still.

Shane Macgowan. He not only doesn't sing notes, he doesn't even sing words. End thread.

I always get annoyed playing rock band when I have to sing a Dylan song or a metal song and it penalises me for missing a note cause I'm singing it super metal/Dylanesque- way to miss the point guys.

Incidentally, Keasha DOES suck.

Um, the girl from Freezepop isn't really a good singer but it's not like she's pretending to be and they are LOADS of fun to listen to.

I know this guy who makes music... check his stuff out here (http://thepeachtree.bandcamp.com/album/failure-playing-art-in-the-dress-rehearsal-for-the-apocalypse).
I just noticed he even says it in the album description.
The Peach Tree, aka. Angus Maiden, possesses a voice that is the antithesis of auto-tune; the sounds you hear are what your average untrained 25-year old male larynx emits. There is plenty of failure here, he doesn't hit the notes, he can't sustain, doesn't project, and his attempts at different styles of singing such as death metal screams are pitiful. Yet in the voice's raw, natural, unprocessed essence there is an expressiveness that reveals a beautiful honesty akin to the lyrics and message of The Peach Tree.

He's way better than on his earlier albums, though.

Bob Dylan, 'cause I didn't talk about him in any Watchmen thread.

Look, guys, I'm trying to scale back on the reaction images here but you're not making it easy on me.

Start using some shots of Don Knotts and we'll call it even.
