So I was looking over the forums and realised to my dismay that there was no thread for this. And that's terrible, because it looks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb9ObWlNrg8) really (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HfCqw_8iKo) good. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkDZLJeU4ZU)

As you can see, it's an over the top Duke Nukem esque FPS with a combo system that rewards you for pulling off ever more eleborate kills. So shooting someone in the head might score you a few points, but whipping them towards you, booting them in the face, then launching a grenade at them while they're in the air earns much more.

The game is set on a once thriving human colony planet that has been overrun with some form of alien infestation, everything from vaguely human-like mutants, hostile plant life and giant Godzilla beasts are in, as well as the waring human factions fighting for survival.

Weapons range from the mundane machineguns and miniguns, to the more eleborate quad barrelled shotgun and a weapon that fires out a pair of grenades on a chain that wrap around enemies. More over the top weapons have yet to be revealed, though it's said they've taken inspiration from Painkiller. Weapons also seem to come with alternate fire modes (I'm pretty sure that shotgun was also able to fire incindiary rounds there).

Overall it looks fun, the world looks interesting (and a nice change of pace from gritty realism/soldiers in power armour), the bosses look terrifying and it has a sense of humour which seems to be actually funny.

I'm excited. Are YOU excited??

The best word I can think for this is juvenile, but I'm not sure it totally fits it. I can definitely see the inspiration from Painkiller in the way the dialog works and the weapons. That being said, it's not a bad thing. Like Painkiller it knows what it is and doesn't try to be something different. Sure it's not the most deep plot from the look of it, but who cares you're shooting weird things across the whole planet. And the range or scale shown in the trailers there are really interesting, the "fatty" guy seems pretty standard and it has the look of a pretty standard boss; while the "godizilla" really looks and seems massive. The game looks like a shameless, fun, guilty pleasure.

I actually really liked how well the did the First person view. They've got the shaky camera from Gears of War, and the never leaving First person view (while in action at least) similar to Half-life. It seems like it could be really well done.

Plus the lead is voiced by Steven Blum, so that's another plus.

Wow, this looks awesome. I've been waiting for more games to be in this style, it's so rare to just get a shameless, over the top action game now a days. Seems everyone just wants to make uber-serious games instead of ones that I actually find fun.
