The new show by Genndy Tartakovski, whose previous work includes Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, PowerPuff Girls, and the original Clone Wars. The pilot episode is up on Cartoon Network's website. (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/index.html?episodeID=8a250ab02b43a08e012b45afd3040 07b)

I think this the most promising thing to come out of the channel in years. It is a homage to old-school sentai and giant robot serials, and it has more in common with SJ and CW than his other works.

Awesome I was just wondering when Tartakovsky's next thing would come out. Looks pretty good, wonder when it's gonna make it's way down here.

Hey, yeah it's good but you're making it sound like the first good thing they've made in ages. CN has been on a run lately. Adventure Time, Chowder and Flapjack are all ace.

Don't forget Generator Rex, also known as "Gurren Lagaan, but a person!".

I mean, no drill motif, but the dude grows his own helipack and bikelegs.

More on topic, saw the second episode last night. Pretty good shit, especially with Lance's insistence that they have everything they need, despite having an EMPTY HOUSE.

This show has quite a lot of potential. And the Big bad of series is all kinds of badass.

I'm still waiting for Rex to get a drill. The Chain Saw sword will do for now till then.

Saw the pilot. Pretty good, but I think the second episode is better, what with the ninja general and all.

I was kind of meh on it, but the whole getting their ideas about high school from TV and their vastly different reactions just left me gasping. XD

I didn't say it was the only good thing, just the most promising. I like how the nature of the setting lets it be anything in-between slapstick comedy and serious drama -for a show about high school, it does have its fair amount of neck-snapping.

On a tangent, when the Samurai Jack movie coming out?

Watching the pilot. I like Octus. That's about my only impression so far beyond really, really liking the lovely painted backdrops.

Edit: Still watching. They based their research on MTV type shows. That's only one step about Invader Zim's intel gathering.

Their method of giant robot forming, oddly, seems to make sense more than others. I like the look of it, too. The sort of glass/plastic look.

Wave of destruction. MAN, I hope that all was evacuated. Only Megas causes more damage than this.

I love how they finished off the enemy with a GIANT SWORD FROM NOWHERE in the spirit of Voltron and MMPR.

There is something about the look of it I just love. I think its the detail, like the giant pillar of smoke rising from the fire monster. I do think those people weren't evacuated. I mean we saw Octus snap a mans neck, this isn't a show that will shy away from killing.

All the characters are great, though their multi-names automaton is my favorite. I honestly think he's secretely enjoying this, I mean not like there was a reason for him to join school too, especially when he isn't in the same class as them

I too think he's enjoying it. Just the way he says he's enrolled them as siblings and slips away.

He seems to be slightly, subtly snarky at times. "The planet is called Earth, if anyone was wondering." Though on a rewatch I think I'm just imagining that.

Anyone know when the second episode will go online?

Tartakovksy calls Sym-Bionic Titan "the most challenging project I have ever done."* (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sym-Bionic_Titan)

Is there any legal way of watching this that doesn't involve cartoon network's website? Because like Hulu, the jerkfaces won't let me watch their video's because I enjoy free healthcare (or it's because I don't live within their borders. Either way, they're jerkfaces). But yeah, I saw the trailer on youtube and loved it, and I loved this guys other works (though I had no idea 'till now that they were all done by him).

I don't know of anyway outside of CN's site that's legal.

Again, regional blocking sucks.

Just finished watching the first episode and I was totally impressed. I don't care much for the design of the titular titan, though the individual units for Lance and Ilana are pretty cool. I've always been a fan of the "Shoulders contain missiles" thing that Lance's bot has going for him, too.

Though I hate how the "Heart, body, and mind" thing pretty much defined the behavior of each character for the first episode. Hopefully they develop/evolve as the series goes on >.>

What I really liked about the second episode was that Lance's mech, on its own, was what defeated the monster of the week.

Like, you know how in, say Power Rangers or Voltron or whatever, the day would always be saved when and only when the team formed the super huge combo robot.

Here, they actually had to disengage the super-big combo robot in order for them to win. Pretty cool.

The animation really impressed me. Like, it's mostly pretty standard stuff and then something just jumps out at me like "whoa, awesome shockwave effects through the water" or something like that.

Also, I literally laughed out loud when the teacher asked lance if he'd like to tell them about himself and all the gilrs swooned at his moodiness.

So wait, did the CN people actually get over their insane Tartakovsky hate, or what?

This is from the same guy who made an episode of Samurai Jack about the tragic tale of a robot forced to go after Jack... and got cut down.

I'm pretty certain they'll get some development. Shit, the second episode already has bits of it already!

It was more of Lance's suicidal protective tendencies, but yeah, it was cool there was a fight where the big mech wasn't an "I win" button.

Watching the second episode. I like the news report on the damage from last episode. A nice bit of continuity and consequences that makes the fight more than a monster of the week.

Edit: Lance is very bad at NOT TURNING INTO A GIANT ROBOT

Seriously, it's mall security. Mall security does not require a mech. You are dysfunctional.

Aaaaaand then the tanks show up. CONGRATS. You have escalated this situation.

Lance is just awful at not being a rash hooligan.
But he's our rash hooligan

Are you talking about the third episode or what? If so, you are all jerks who can actually remember to watch it when it comes on TV.

I don't ever watch TV so I no longer have a box, so I couldn't watch it when it comes on TV even if I wanted to.

So yeah, they're jerks.
