Just saying, the orange is gaudy.
It hurts my eyes.
Hatake Kakashi

It is rather hideous. Given the time of year, I suppose that's what they're going for.

Not the best thing to see after booting it up this morning. >_<
But yeah, I think it's just a Halloween thing, especally seeing the icon up in the corner.

Dear god, what have you done!?
...you could have at least made it a full change instead of this one eye-searing orange stripe every so often amidst a sea of calming dark blues and not-quite-blacks.

I think my eyes have literally started bleeding. But if that's what you guys were going for with the color change then kudos, job accomplished.

I like it! Mainly because I know this isn't permanent. So festive and such.

This colour changes get the SMB Seal of Approval (it's pretty rare that one).
With my partial colour blindness orange is the easiest colour for me to see.

I'm biased towards the color orange.
Some years ago my cousin married.
In the church all the flowers were orange, there was orange cloth everywhere. At the party all table cloths were orange, the candles including the flames, the groom's shirt and skin, the bride's son's tie, the sauce in the food, the colour of the sunlight, more flowers, even several of the cars outside. And let's not forget the logo on the T-shirt I wore under my shirt on that day. It's been etched into my mind, this Orange wedding. On that day I learned the meaning of Horror, no H. P. Lovecraft could do this outworldish orangeness justice, no Freddy Mercury could hold a note in the pitch that would be necessary to empty this dark orange from my bowels and no Tarantino could... well yeah, I guess he could. But at least Mr. Orange didn't actually wear orange.
And they say I'm linguistically gifted, even if only in my mother tongue. I cannot find words harsh enough. That is literally all I can say. In either language.

Wouldn't it be cool if all the default text was just that color instead?
Hell, the orange text is darker than the headers and it's a dark themed site.
I like it because it makes everyone else miserable.

I like theme by the way. Cause it's orange, I've been loving that color a lot lately.

Yeah that won't be happening. Thanks go to this guy (http://www.djibnet.com/photo/black+mage/black-mage-lantern-1-58191881.html) for the image though.

I vote we do not, but make Oster's name orange instead. Orange Comic Sans, how do you like that?
I vote we change everything to Christmas themed tomorrow, and leave it that way until the end of January. You know, like real Americans are supposed to!

I would actually think that to be quite awesome.
e: My name being orange that is, not the christmas thing.

Hey, doesn't look so bad now that the orange is a bit darker.
The orange is darker, right? My eyes didn't get accustomed to the shining doom, right?
EDIT from the future @NonCon: I am in genuine shock.
All this time did I believe in front of me laid the color orange.
This, coupled with my orange phobia, made me panic. But now I know, I don't have anything to fear. The familiar blue is comforting me. Even though it still looks a little orange to me. I dunno.
IG, I have something to tell you...
It isn't orange. It's blue.
What a twist!

I vote we murder Nonsie.
Also, thanks (or hate) should probably go to Meister too, as it was his idea and he did a lot of the work for it. I couldn't tell you who implemented it, but I do know Shiney helped as well.
I kind of like it as a couple of day thing, myself.
Geocitiesesque tiled background image really pulls it together, I think. Oddly enough, I'm being sincere.

Colors are w/ev but the gap between posts is actually a nice improvement. Among other things, template-breakingly huge images like http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3168/hallowmas1006b.jpg only break the post they're in, instead of the entire thread.

I don't know I kind of like the orange. It speaks to my Irish Protestant heritage.

Its the color of Heathens! Back in the day of my forefathers this blasphemy would not have been allowed! You bunch of rowdy satanists won't enjoy orange when your in Hell I bet!

I am not a satanist, I am a United Methodist/Southern Baptist. I have not come across anything saying that orange is the color of satan. I am pretty sure that the Orangemen in Northern Ireland would also disagree. ;)

MY EYES.
THE GOGGLES DO- okay yeah not pulling that out. That joke should be dragged behind the chemical shed and shot. Repeatedly. With a shotgun.
Also tossing in my vote for a more holiday-aware NPF. You knew this would happen. You showed us you could do it once, now we want MORE.

So reds and golds for Thanksgiving? Red and green for Christmas? Black and gold for New Years, etc?

Ah, why not? These things always need a couple of support votes before they get rolling, and this will keep things at the forum interesting.
If we act fast (like tomorrow), we could be all like "trick or treat!! *bang/stab/slash/foosh/zap/whatever-weapon-we-use*" (I wonder if my recent playthrough of Bioshock is affecting my mind yet.)

I'm 99% sure the gap between posts has been there all along and the background only makes it more visible. None of the changes we thought up even comes close to possibly having an effect on that. Either way, I agree, it's great to have it.

I'm not entirely against leaving the background image in there for good. Once I figured out how to implement it anyways.
The orange might not jive well with the regular forum colors I guess, but it's at least thematically appropriate. Or...something.
Yeah thanks to Meister for directing to the correct stylesheet vars for replacement! Sorry if anyone got caught in the crossfire while I was testing the replacement colors, for a few minutes there things were horrifyingly ugly.
Like Meister.
You could find another image to tile that fits the color scheme. Maybe the same dark gray we had before, but with a faint, semi-transparent watercolor of 8-bit characters or Robo or something.

I thought it was new since I would have sworn that when I was reading DFM's Let's Play thread the other day, his giant images at the beginning were breaking the entire thread.
Must have mis-seen it.

I wonder if giant images in the first post will break a whole thread, but in a subsequent post they won't? Hmm.
It's worthy of further research, regardless.

Are you saying, "Please make a thread with a giant image in the first post?"
Also, I do like the background vaguely, because of how it makes the posts pop forward a bit more, but does it really have to be so... 90s-esque? A nicely tiled background with black and those reds/oranges would work just as well!

Well, the colored frames for the forum is back to normal, but we still got the Black Mage thing in the background. A wee bit disjarring.
Darn, ninja'ed.
