They've released the DLC "Undead Nightmare" for Red Dead Redemption. It's a new single-player campaign.

I've just started it and so far it's looking good. Has anyone else downloaded this and started playing?

Didn't one of the Call of Duty games do this? Add a zombie mode/story onto one of the games with Nazi Zombies?

(Not that I don't think this is totally awesome and that all games shouldn't be doing it, because they should. I don't even care that this renders moot my unpublished short story with the same plot I wrote a few years ago, because it looks awesome as hell and so now the world doesn't need my short story, they can play it!)

This is different.
It's pretty much turned Red Dead Redemption into a free-roam horror-survival game.
More focus on the survival than the horror, though.

Regardless, it's turned the game around pretty good. It feels completely different to me.

If there was ever a justification for DLC, Undead Nightmare is it. (Ironically, it'll also be available in a retail version with some of the other DLC, but hush!)

For fucks sake, could they just make a PC version already!

Oh Herbert Moon, you goddamned bigoted shopkeeper, it was so satisfying to see you get munched on by the zombies and then getting to blow off your head with a sawed-off shotgun

YOU CAN'T EAT ME! I'M HERBERT MOOOOOOOOOOON!

Love this DLC. I've already beaten it and it was awesome. I love that you actually have to shoot the zombies in the head in order to kill them (explosives, fire, and holy water (which is like a type of fire when it hits them) works too though). Taking a page out of L4D's book and adding special zombies was also a nice way to keep things interesting. But by far the best thing about this DLC are the mythical creatures. There's a neat stranger quest involving the Sasquatch that ends in an interesting way. Better still are the four horses of the apocalypse that you can find. Even better than that is the Fabulous Unicorn that leaves a rainbow trail when it runs and creates butterflies when standing still.

I have yet to try out the new online modes that came with the DLC, but I definitely recommend this to anyone who's craving some old western zombie slaying action.

I personally have to wait for the retail version of this and the other DLC because I have such horrible internets.

Oh that reminds me: hilarious story time!

So I'm up in Tall Trees looking for Violet Snowdrops to help West Dickens concoct more of his tomfoolery. I head over the next flower patch, which for some reason is situated in the middle of a clearing. There were three or four standard zombies mulling about, and they returned to their pre-undead status rather quickly. Before I hop off my horse though I hear the unfriendly grunt of a zombified bear sneaking up behind me. Fortunately I spur my horse away from it, turn around, and dispense a gratuitous amount of lead into its face. Problem solved, I get off my horse, pick some flowers, and go to grab some undead bear memorabilia.

Now this is when shit gets scary. I hear the terrifying growl of a cougar, who through some divine grace decided to fight me head on instead of murdering me like a ninja (as cougars often do). One dead cougar later I think I'm finally safe. But it seems like the bear I re-killed earlier had a friend; a rather unhappy friend who dislikes what I did to his pal. I run, aim backwards, and the bear joins his fellow zombie. And that's when three zombie wolves thought it would be fun to join in on this clusterfuck. Several gunshots and dead wolves later, I'm finally safe. That is until a second cougar knocks me on my ass. I manage to get up, save my life using the last bit of Dead Eye that I have, and proceed to get the hell out of there before more animals decided I look tasty.

I never actually played Red Dead Redemption, but if this DLC combines zombies with Robot Unicorn Attack, I will go to the store right now. Right. Now. Please tell me this isn't a joke, and that I can die a happy man.
