So, I was looking for pics of a video game character I RP in a forum group on Yahoo and I stumbled across something that got me thinking and decided to ask it here. If it gets enough of a response, I might do one for fictional characters in Media.
If you could do so, what five video game characters would you put together into a team to fight, with the last one named as the leader? The format is as follows. You can also point out problems with choices as well.
NAME(GAME or GAMES)
IMAGE
REASON
Here's my five
Ryu Hayabusa - Ninja Gaiden Series and Dead Or Alive Series
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/deadoralive/images/f/fc/Ryu_Hayabusa.jpg
Let's face it, this guy is not called a Super Ninja for nothing. He carries a sword and kicks ass with it. He maybe the last of his clan but Ryu is not someone to mess with even in an age of technology and modern weapons. (Reference his ending in DOA4).
KOS-MOS (Xenosaga, Capcom X Namco, Super Robot Taisen)
http://blog.hantsuki.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/all_kosmos.jpg
Yeah, she had four rebuilds but each one had more tricks and kick butt than the last. She carries or can teleport in a whole array of weapons and is basically a one-woman android army. Enough said I hope?
Dante (Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe)
http://s.bebo.com/app-image/8245991774/6517022980/PROFILE/i.quizzaz.com/img/q/u/08/04/23/dante.jpg
How many other guys get up after being stabbed, burned, frozen, slashed, etc and can shrug it off and return the favor? Dante can and he can dual wield two pistols (not to mention his sword is bad ass IMO). He also has the attitude of someone we can enjoy.
Terra Branford (Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy Dissidia)
http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p452/silverdarkness_riku/Dissidia/TerraBranford-DissidiaFinalFantasy.png
Ah, love at first sight for me as a young teen when I first played FF6 and I still love this gal as one of my favorite video game gales. Between her Morph and Magic skills, not to mention a not to shappy Swordsmanship...this gal can hold her own against many threats. Not to mention her being shy.
And now, last, but not least, the one who would lead this little team in battle...
Master Chief/Spartan John-117 (Halo Series)
http://www.popartuk.com/g/l/lgfp1943+master-chief-at-dawn-halo-3-poster.jpg
Yes, Master Chief himself would lead this group. Neither an alien horde bent on Humanity's extinction, an alien parasite, nor a crazed AI could stop him from his mission. It seems the Universe will not let this guy die. Hence why he is here as leader.
So give it a go guys and let's see your LoXVGCs. ^_^

Sonic because I think he'd be good as the washed-up drug addict.
Kirby because I think he'd make an interesting totally amoral sociopath.
The dude from Altered Beast because he's the only example I can recall of a character who is a basically useless jerk who transforms into a stupidly powerful monster.
Doctor Wily as the guy who provides the team with transportation and also is a bloodthirsty maniac who wants to kill everybody.
And um... Princess Toadstool trying to lead her team of miscreants in a no-nonsense manner in order to redeem herself after her public disgrace following her romance with foreign nobility of ill repute.

Alex Mercer; Dude survived a nuke blast and fights whole armies of both super mutant zombies and the military, AT THE SAME TIME!
Kratos: Guy killed pretty much every named mythological named creature, hero and god in ancient greek myth, and whole armies of other, not so named heroes and beasts. The only persopn who could kill him, was HIMSELF.
That's all I've got right now, and frankly, that's all I really need. These guys together can take out anything or anyone. Period.

As the master of stealth and assassin's, I am giving it to Altair, who not only learned the art twice, but perfected it and added new stuff.
Cole McGrath, he can remove electricity from various applliances. Have him grab a gun, and his power will ignite the gunpowder. He can also provide a chield to repel bullets.
Alex Mercer, whatever Cole doesn't fry, Alex will smash.
Sly Cooper: Whatever you need stolen, he can get.
The Warden: He can unite elves, dwarves and humans to take on the horde of hell themselves. He is a leader you want.

Ryu (SF)- great fighter, can possibly blend in
Ryu (Ninja gaiden)- Stealthy guy, also deadly
Ryu (BoF)- The Artillery
I tried to think of 2 more Ryus, but I think the 3 of them can handle anything you need.

Um...you also need images. >_> And a minimum of five characters.
Edit: Um also why was the Master Chief image removed?

This for the guy who didn't even provide for a Sherlock Holmes role!
So why isn't anyone going with the Dream Team?
Mario, Link, Kirby, Sonic and Donkey Kong?
I'd go with Ness (Earthbound), Snake (MGS), Altair (Assassin's Creed), Henry (Silent Hill IV) and Raziel (Soul Reaver).

I see two ways to go with this, picking the dudes with the greatest potential for destruction and/or problem solving and hope they all have the Victorian sensibilities that merely the audacity of having a girl in charge of them can keep them in line (it's what they did in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), or picking the ones with the greatest potential to work as a team.
I see we're mostly going with option A so let me offer some of column B:
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv324/immortalpictures/pally.jpg
The Paladin from Diablo 2 with his many beneficial auras is a nice addition to any team.
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv324/immortalpictures/medic.png
The Medic from Team Fortress 2 too, and he has some experience with teamwork.
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv324/immortalpictures/tails.gif
Tails from Sonic 2 is invincible, fast, stubborn and perfectly selfless. He lives to follow orders without thinking. He's our cannon fodder.
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv324/immortalpictures/worm.jpg
Our muscle will be a Worm from Worms, a vicious war-forged guy tiny and cute enough to throw anyone off their guard before unleashing weapons of mass destructions enough to turn the whole landscape into dust. Don't even think about letting him/her/it load that minigun with bazooka shells; that's cheating.
http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv324/immortalpictures/brianongordon.jpg
And finally, a leader who commands absolute loyalty and respect from his squad and conveys his orders without fail without even needing to speak. An educated man, a practical engineer and commensurate marksman. I give you Doctor Gordon Freeman.
I'll throw in some pictures later, if you really need them.
Raziel (Soul Reaver)
I would like to throw in my lot with Kain.

I do not have the pictures, but here is my ultimate team.
Yuna (FFX): The quiet and reserved healer of the party, a very nice girl, tick her off though, and she will summon Anima and obliterate your ass.
Sabin (FFVI): Basically he a BB(FF) on steroids. Anything gets in the way, just punch and kick it into submission. I loved it when I could execute Bum Rush on a regular basis.
T. G. Cid (FF Tactics): One of the coolest party members of any strategy rpg. Without his sword, he is just an old guy wearing armor. Give him Excalabur, and watch his All Sword Skill wipe out the enemy without anyone else lifting a fingure.
Rikku (FFX): Not a particularly strong fighter, but she is usful in other ways. She can steal from the enemy in the heat of battle, she can disable or repair many types of machines, and she can create weapons and recovery items with her chemist ability.
Yugi Moto (Yu-gi-oh!: Deulist of the Roses): A thirteen year-old boy with the spirit of a long-dead pharoh which helps him defeat any opponent by playing a children's card game.
So there you have it, my League of Extraordinary Video Game Heroes.

THE ASSOCIATION OF AUTOMATRONIC AVENGERS
Bomberman:
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9900/bombermanj.jpg
Demolitions expert. Cute mascot team-member. "The Woobie".
Gray Fox:
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/6784/201742foxsuper.jpg
Espionage and assassination expert. Exhibits stealth skills and technology. Hand to hand combat skills allow for versatility in greater team structure. Sometimes suffers psychotic breakdowns which may be cause for weakness, but properly utilized his berserker rages can be decimating to enemy force. "The Disturbed Loner."
Megaman X and Zero:
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/337/6a00d83452033569e200e54.jpg
Forming the fighting backbone of the team, this dynamic duo specializes in both long-distance buster fighting and close-encounter beam saber fighting. They also bring much needed diversity to the team due to their status as gay lovers. "The Life Partners."
LEADER
Samus Aran:
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6385/samusaran.jpg
Intergalactic bounty hunter and fighter pilot. She exhibits top level combat and leadership skills while utilizing multiple forms of devastating equipment and gadgets, including her amazing exosuit, earning her much-deserved nickname--"Batwoman...IN SPACE!"

TimeSplitters series: Gingerbread Man
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/6861/189161-gingerbreadman_large.jpg
Because why the fuck not? If he wont entertain the League he'll distract its enemies. And if he doesn't do that you could still eat him.
Disgaea series: A prinny
http://i.animecrazy.net/prinny.jpg
A prinny will be the demolition expert of this team. And no matter how many times he blows up he'll always be back if you just pay a barely notable amount of demon monies.
Chrono Trigger: Frog
http://th00.deviantart.net/fs11/300W/i/2006/241/7/a/Frog___Chrono_Trigger_by_EmperorAtma.jpg
Isn't he simply the best character in the game? He has the best theme too. He's also a frog. He wasn't born as one but he is one now, so shut up.
Perfect Dark: Elvis
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/4024/288875-uselvis_large.jpg
He's from some Planet where they have an auto-targeting gun that can see and shoot through walls.
Soul Calibur series: Yoshimitsu
http://www.just-saying.com/thumbs/yoshimitsu.jpg
Yoshi is the highly visible boss of a robin hood-like ninja clan. He speaks old English, can fly by using his sword as a propeller, pogo jump with is sword and commit Seppuku mid battle and still win without spilling his guts all over the place. How can he not be on the team? He has leadership experience, so he's the most suitable for that position. (e: His sword also sometimes has the properties of a healing shiv)
EDIT: Now I want to see a TV Show starring that team.

BATTLE GROUP AWESOME - REPORT!
MARCUS FENIX [GEARS OF WAR]
http://technabob.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/marcus_fenix_futurama.jpg
All around killer of things that move, Marcus provides fire support and style bonus kills via chainsaw to the face. In truth, he is actually the team medic, since he possesses the unique ability to simply pat someone on the back or shoulder to fully revive them back to fighting strength.
CIDOLFAS "THUNDER GOD" ORLANDU [FINAL FANTASY TACTICS]
http://bestuff.com/images/images_of_stuff/210x600/cidolfas-orlandu-26545.jpg
Have you seen this guy's Lightning Stab? Nickname isn't just for show. The team gets by any kind of armor or weapon or undead or WHATEVER REALLY just fine thanks to Orlandu's diverse set of overpowered Holy Swordsman skills.
FRANK WEST [DEAD RISING]
http://www.pwnordie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/frank-west-dead-rising.jpg
BATTLE GROUP AWESOME finds itself in a lot of sticky situations, and that inevitably includes wars. It was necessary, therefore, to have someone on the team that covers them. Frank is a skilled photojournalist, slayer of the shambling dead, and a miracle worker with coffee creamer. His only downfall is a rare genetic defect that causes any weapon he touches to violently fall apart after only a few uses.
LELIANA [DRAGON AGE]
http://www.acepolls.com/uploads/0088/5529/leliana.jpg
The team was getting a little slanted in terms of gender and sexy accent equality, so corporate ordered in Leliana. Rumour has it she's putting her storytelling talents to use in a new book project co-authored by Frank West. All around adept at blades, bows, and hotness, she adds much needed actual combat ability to BATTLE GROUP AWESOME.
COMMANDER SHEPARD - LEADER [MASS EFFECT]
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs41/f/2009/007/5/b/Commander_Shepard_by_yumedust.jpg
While saving a country here or a planet there might be considered good enough to be raised to leader of some battle groups, Shepard enjoys the honour of saving the Milky Way on several occasions. Well, maybe. I'll let you know for sure in 1-2 years. Nigh limitless leadership potential combined with the ability to diffuse or escalate social situations with QTEs give Shepard all the tools necessary to direct the might of Battle Group AWESOME.

Kimahri Ronso (FFX & FFX-2)
http://i55.tinypic.com/2ufyqer.jpg
Kimahri may not say much, but when he does, it's important and useful. He's also incredibly loyal, has immense strength and agilty (enough to jump 50 feet into the air), and his Lancet ability draws the very vital and magical energies out of his foes from afar, even allowing him to learn new abilities. Assuming his full set of Rages, he can breathe a gout of fire or water at anything in front of him, heal all his allies for half his own current physical condition, protect his party from both physical and energy damage, breathe a gout of petrifying breath or cause other illnesses, directly give a foe only minutes to live, deliver a kick powerful enough to launch them out of the area, or blast the enemy with a controlled supernova. He also, assuming he's filled out the entire Sphere Grid, has vast healing and magical abilities, can disable foes with blindness or other negative effects, can break their physical abilities, has power over time, can steal parts from machines, and much more. Even assuming he's specialized, he has great flexibility in the path he chooses. Even further, if he never even leaves his own small section of the grid, it still lets him cast the powerful Ultima. His weaponry is also rife with armor-piercing abilities. Plus, he's a big, scary lion-man, so if nothing else, he can make the enemy crap themselves just by roaring.
X (Mega Man X series)
http://i53.tinypic.com/b8ka9w.jpg
While he lacks leadership qualities and is naturally pacifistic, he's capable and his ability to absorb aspects of foes' weaponry would be just as useful as Kimahri's Lancet. It also gives the team a reliable ranged fighter, and X's various armors throughout the series make him incredibly versatile in both fast and heavy roles. If his predecessor is any indication, he's also immensely strong and he has been known to wield melee weaponry in certain instances. His peaceful nature could be incredibly helpful in negotiations, as he keeps a cool head and can be quite firm when he has to be without being off-putting. As a peacekeeping officer, he's no stranger to tactics and can use info given to him efficiently. His vast ability to exploit enemy weaknesses based on most of the above is a valuable resource.
Paine (FFX-2)
http://i52.tinypic.com/dzz495.png
Paine comes from a military background and has already fluently learned a language that is an encodement of her native tongue, meaning she'd be great for code-breaking. On top of that, she's one of only four survivors of a large military campaign and is a capable fighter. Her ability to change roles mid-battle to let her function as a spellcaster, healer, melee fighter, gunner, or even disabler of the entire enemy force would be invaluable, and if all else fails, she can summon a mech made entirely of blades for her to fight in. Counting the International version of her game, she also has access to vast psychic abilities, including letting her teleport. She'd be a welcome addition to any force.
Kieran (Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos)
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/Troy_Star/Kieransmile.png
The team needs an inside man. Kieran lies like a rock and is incredibly silent, making him a good infiltrator and spy. He also can defend himself if he needs to with various melee and ranged weapons, although someone would have to explain guns to him. He's also half again as fast as a human and is capable of casting such useful spells as summoning a giant spectral hand to pound his foes or calling the very spirits of the dead to fight for him on top of standard elemental and healing spells. Among his equipment are a green skull that lets him cast a fog of acid, a crossbow that shoots flaming arrows, lockpicks, and a magic atlas that automatically maps the surrounding area anywhere he travels. His consumable stock includes swarms of bees, magical cups that fully restore him up to four times, and various other magical artifacts. Did I mention he's the canon hero of a very large kingdom and defeated one of the most powerful spellcasters to ever live? Yes, it puts two animalistic characters on the team, and he's not nearly as physically imposing, but he's damn smooth and I can think of no better candidate for spy, thief, or assassin.
Serge (Chrono Cross)
http://i52.tinypic.com/r8zhi9.jpg
Serge could easily be an up-and-comer in any military in the world. For one, he's led a team of 44 people at the young age of only 17 which consisted of everything ranging from theives to military officers to magicians to famous rock stars, pirates, aliens, and more. He even had a full-blown lord and several war heroes under his command. For two, there's only so much you can do to him. He's already been dead, switched into the body of a notorious villain, and thrown into three dimensions counting one that's effectively Limbo. He uses an incredibly difficult-to-handle weapon with ease, possesses technology that produces effects akin to magic, and has fought in places where time itself ceases to have meaning. As in more than one. All of this from a simple boy from a fishing village within the span of no more than a week! His experiences with non-humans would also be invaluable in his ability to command two felines and a robot. Serge has himself been two flavors of feline (one ordinary housecat, one anthropomorphic wildcat) and commanded merfolk, cyborgs, faeries, dragons, and plants! Race is not an issue with him. On top of that, he dealt with a self-obsessed gay French man who thought being pretty made him a hero, and if anyone could deal with that guy, they could handle a team of much more rational people.
