Okay, there was a movie I saw a loooong time ago and I cannot remember the name of it. I was maybe 4 at the time, so late 80s? I do remember bits and pieces of it though. What I am asking is if anyone can help me piece the bits together to get a name I might throw into netflix and watch again.

I remember a house and someone the protagonist got transported to a sand filled place? I seem to recall a cowboy, and the hero picked up a friendly monster, which was a puppet, and I remember it might be an unrelated sequel to another movie.

Kinda vague I know, but I can't remember what it is for the life of me.

Kinda sounds like.. a weird movie. I bet if you put in 'Spaceballs', 'Time Bandits' and, I dunno let's say, 'Fraggle Rock' into your favorites, Netflix will probably find it.

The sand makes me think of Beetlejuice.

If you really want to know, /r/tipofmytongue (http://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue) might help.

More details would help. There are plenty of puppets in 1980s films.

Was the sand from a beach or a desert?
Is this a real cowboy or just someone who dressed like one?
Monster/puppet means what?

I want to say a desert and the cowboy was a zombie, and related to the main character. As for the monster all I remember is it was supposed to be cute. Maybe it was supposed to be a dinosaur?

So anyone know of any movies that have sand, a cowboy zombie, and dinosaurs?

Cowboy?

Anyways - was it a horror, comedy... what? Are you sure of all your listed details? Are you sure it's a movie and not a TV show?

How about... The Valley of Gwangi? (I asked my friend who is a huge movie buff and she suggested that, as far as a movie that has a desert and cowboys and dinosaurs in it)

House II: The Second Story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_II:_The_Second_Story)?

e:
- zombie cowboy is a main character's grandfather
- they befriend a baby dinosaur
- I'm sure one of the rooms of the house sends them to a desert/sandy area
- it's a sequel
- it's from 1987

e2: I might watch this now.

It wasn't a puppet master movie for sure. It wasn't Westworld (That's Robot Cowboys) or The Valley of Gwangi (Too old).

Hmm... more details... hmm...

I do remember the movie was centered around a house. Was it inherited..? Hmm maybe. And the movie was definitely from the late 80s due to the time frame I saw it in.

Yeah so I'm pretty sure I'm right, then.

Also, oh hohohoh this is so delightfully 1980s.

e: Man, graverobbing, zombie cowboys, eighties hair, nipples, and man-eating dinosaurs at the tender age of 4?

Apparently, only the zombie cowboy and baby dinosaur made any impression on me.

I remember the videotape cover art for the House movies.

It seems like they were misleadingly unsettling, judging from the trailer? Looks like a somewhat lighter tone than I would have imagined from seeing the floating, decayed hand that was on them, anyway.
