In case you didn't know. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yogi_Bear_(film))

I don't know why but for some reason I think this movie actually looks kind of good.

You may use this thread to agree with me, or openly mock me. Or talk about the hit or miss nature of the 'bring-back-old-cartoons-as-semi-serious-films-with-live-human-actors' genre.

A mix of nostalgia and the fact they got their personalities down. Or atleast from what I can remember.

I doubt it will work. Yogi Bear would have trouble with a half hour show, let alone a 2 hour movie. Its just not designed for it

It can't be any worse than Marmaduke.

I can't process "high detail fuzz Yogi", it's weird and just plain wrong. The proper Yogi Bear is two-dimensional and has a much smaller color pallet.

If it didn't work for Garfield or Scooby-Doo, it ain't gonna work for Yogi Bear.

It can't be any worse than Marmaduke.

Marmaduke had so many things going against it, not only the inability for CGI versions of cartoon characters to be made into decent feature-length comedy films (TMNT as an action flickdid a bit better, since they could pad the length with fights, plus it is based on a serial-lized comic book which lends itself to a full story, as opposed to a three-panel comic strip), but also the inclusion of the "talented" Owen Wilson as its lead voice "artist". And let us not forget its disdain for canon (insofar as Marmaduke has a canon), since Marmaduke in the comic does not speak!

Oh man, Movie stars doing voice acting is pretty irritating because they are sometimes good actors but never good voice actors. Also legitimate and talented voice actors could be actually doing these characters a small degree of justice.

I understand this knee-jerk reaction but remember some of those talented voice actors started Unless you mean to imply former live action stars like Mark Hamil and Tim Curry are bad voice actors, because if so we may have to step outside :argh:

I think it is more that it is annoying because 99% of the time it is the Owen Wilsons or George Lopezes of the world doing the voice acting instead of the Mark Hamils and Tim Currys. It is a question of the rule being so unbearable that the exception is almost not good enough to make it worth former-live-action-actors turning voice-actors ever.

But for the existence of Batman:TAS I suppose I would sit through a million Marmaduke showings if that is what it took for that kind of thing to continue.

Like if Mark Hamil had done the Joker doing Marmaduke I probably would have seen that shit, twice.

EDIT: Frankly there should be a petition as to such for Marmaduke 2, i.e. the only way it is allowed to be made is if Mark Hammil voice-acts the Joker voice-acting Marmaduke. I mean, I'll start it right here:

"The Undersigned demand that if Marmaduke 2 is to be made that it star Mark Hamil voice-acting the Joker voice-acting Marmaduke.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned"

well considering the reason so many consider Mark Hamil's Joker to be the best is because he managed to pull off prankster thief and murderous sociopath at once (and the creepiest laugh I've ever heard) that would make Marmaduke 2 more of a stealth horror movie I mean, just imagine him behind everyone, just laughing as they go outside. I swear I'd be expecting someone to die in every scene

At least it takes a more logical turn.
