Senate Democrats failed Thursday to win a procedural vote to open debate on a bill that would provide medical benefits and compensation for emergency workers who were first on the scene of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks
Republicans: Remember 9/11! But only when it's beneficial to our cause!

Jagos you need to start threads with a better OP. You can't just link a news article and then be all "discuss". What's your viewpoint? What do you think this means? Do you have an opinion, is there a direction you would like to take the discussion? From now on please put some effort into your opening posts.
That said, our people have become pawns in political gamesmanship and nothing more. Ds put this bill up to make the Rs look foolish for rejecting it pre-tax cuts, rather than caring about the actual first responders -- they knew it would be blocked, and rather than take it to the bank, they banked on the Rs blocking it so they can use it* for political ammunition. Rs were just doing Business As Usual. Disgusting as it once again is, this is just another example of the broken machine.
* By "use it" I mean by letting it happen and then doing nothing whatsoever to bring it to the public's eye because to do that you'd need a D with a spine and yeah right.

What are you quoting for truth, specifically? That Jagos's OPs are pretty weak? That people are pawns? That the Democratic Party checks their spines at the door when sitting in session?
People, in general, on a forum shouldn't quote all of a post to respond to one section, especially when there are multiple points, at least not when their response has no real content. Speaking of, let's not reduce our responses to a mere handful of characters. I know discussion is more lax than it used to be, but that's not any better than lame OPs.

No disrespect but it was 2am and I got tired. I was actually planning to edit the post after I'd gotten some sleep.
Main thing is what NonCon said. The symbolism of 9/11 is convenient only to those that bilk it to pass laws that are woefully inept or misguided.
IIRC, the Repubs did say they would block every bill that came out except for the ones they deemed necessary. As it stands, we'll continue to have Dyncorps and Halliburtons taking the system apart while the ones that are supposed to be provided by the system (as the link showed) are screwed by it.
Just wondering if there's anyway it may be changed or will the symptoms grow into a far worse disease...

That's almost like a reason. Next time either put the effort into making the thread right or don't make the thread at all. Your threads have gotten to the point where they're largely indistinguishable from those made by a poorly written spambot.

More on the topic at hand-I sincerely hope that the democrats ream the republicans next time they try to evoke 9/11 imagery. I've had enough of their appeal to ethos using the suffering of people as a political tool.

hahahahahaha. That's seems....unlikely.

Among the heartbreaking things about this story is how utterly it will not matter at all. Republicans will still be the 9/11 Freedom Security Homeland dickweeds party, Democrats will continue to be the communo-islamist taxandspend treasonocrats.

I know it may sound weird, but if i had to condense what it's being said in this thread it would be like "Republicans are Dicks, Democrats are Pussies and everyone else gets fucked"
...it's really weird, and somewhat scary.
On the other hand, and as an Outsider i say this in the most honest and respectful tone... but the proof that a system is broken is when leaders can get together to provide a minimum health safety net for those that stood up and came forth in the true hour of need and are now suffering for it.
"Republicans are Dicks, Democrats are Pussies and everyone else gets fucked"
More or less an accurate description of America's current political landscape, though I'd prefer it without the misogyny.

But the misandry is A-OK? ;)
Anyway, I'm happy to see the Republican party be as up front as possible when it comes to cutting all Federal spending in order to protect the rich from their minimal tax burden. That they keep insisting that any of it will fix anything for anyone else is still annoying, though.

Where's the jobs these tax cuts were sposed to provide in the past 10 years?

Howsabout we stick to "ass" or "asshole" in these sort of cases. Everybody's got one after all, so it's non-discriminatory :D

Obviously it went to other countries with cheaper labor!

Yup.
Plus, there are many ways of insulting/tearing down the Democratic party for its failings that don't have the undertone of women/things associated with women being submissive and inferior. Example - Democrats are cowardly worms.
I generally don't give a flying monkey butler about "What about ~men~?" whenever it's brought up in response to someone pointing out misogyny, for multiple reasons. I'm never sure how seriously I'm supposed to take what POS says, though, so I just went with "Yep."

How about we just move on with the topic because it really isn't too terribly important really

Would have ruined the fucking analogy.
Assholes, meanwhile, while keeping the fucking analogy intact would have ruined the connotations of cowardice and weakness in the republican party.
And that analogy was so important, too...
I also love the implication that if I see something that I don't like for being misogynistic or some such, I'm just supposed to shut up and not say anything, and that your way of saying that was telling me to put on my big girl panties. Guys on the internet saying stuff with the undertone that women are supposed to shut up and mind their place? Naaaaaaah.
Or how about the fact that if I don't like misogyny, I'm not supposed to say anything, but if you don't like my complaints about it THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF THAT I HAVE TO BE TOLD OFF ON.
I'm not in a position of authority where I can actively control what everyone here can or cannot say, and I don't desire to be. You aren't in any risk of me actually keeping you from saying the stuff that you do. Me saying "I don't like this way of putting it, because it's somewhat misogynistic, but this is otherwise accurate" is just that. Seeing as the mods themselves seem to be anti-PC, don't worry, you can keep saying "bitch" and "pussy" and the only person who'll call you out on it is me, when I actually have the energy to do so. It's not so terrible a fate.

Wait, so if someone sees you saying something about not liking something for being misogynistic or some such they're supposed to shut up and not say anything if they don't like that you don't like it?

How 'bout back on topic, I was being tongue-in-cheek and I assume POS was, this is a ridiculous derailment so cut it out. It's seriously gone right into the actual FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU range of emotion and it's unnecessary for offhand remarks.

I guess they're going to pass this thing now that everybody's all through SAVING AMERIKUH with the tax cut/unemployment bill? Before the tea partiers get in next year and screw everything up with their deficit shenanigans?
Also, NonCon brings up misogyny in every* topic, it's not even worth making a joke about.
*okay like three lately but it's noticeable
