Okay, maybe not, but the thing you should take from the above image is that all those Red Rangers? Yeah, at the very least the new one can turn into ALL OF THEM. The pirate thing is not your imagination. This series is literally pirating costumes, powers, and Zords from over 30 years of Super Sentai history. There are already a few confirmed combinations of the new Zords and previous ones.

The reason for the thread title? We all know that Power Rangers has been a merchandising cash-in for years now. We created one ranger for Lightspeed Rescue and we created three for Jungle Fury. This is going to let them shove several young lifetimes' worth of recast toys down unsuspecting kids' throats, or, worse yet, force parents to buy the same basic toys twice because the new models have to be modified to work as advertised.

Let's face it; kids love pirates and they're going to eat this shit up. If this is going to be the last series they ever make, they're going to laugh their way to the bank while doing it.

You know what I would watch? A semi-sequel/ spin-off of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as a primetime CW action/drama in the same vein as Smallville or Supernatural or.... Felicity.

Yeah, I don't doubt it has the potential to be a great series, but it also has a buttload of potential for Disney to ruin it when they port it over. If Jungle Fury showed me anything it's that we're great at completely missing the point of the series if it means we can sell more toys. Not that I'll suggest doing so, but if you compare the first episode of Jungle Fury with the same of Gekiranger, you'll find that Jungle Fury rips it off nearly part and parcel, but re-filmed absolutely everything and did a crap job of it. Case in point, they even changed the morphers from the gloves they wear when morphed into sunglasses. The gloves were on the costumes because they were an important design choice and had a significance, but Disney wasn't going to sell one toy if it could sell two.

Saban's doing Samurai Rangers so they might also be in charge of Pirate Rangers.

That said, I'll probably only watch the Super Sentai version. I saw what Power Rangers SPD did to Doggie/DekaMaster and :I

Honestly, I liked SPD, which is what got me get into Super Sentai in the first place out of curiosity.

Also, they're doing Shinkenger after all? I thought they were passing it over and that was why they were redoing the original series. I mean, Shinkenger is good (I just learned most series have four writers and Shinkenger was written almost entirely by one woman, who's famous for some damn good Super Sentai and Kamen Rider work), but it's plastered with Kanji. I wonder if they decided against Goseiger for some reason? Goseiger may look odd with the outfits at first, but they look great in action and it's overall much better-suited to translation.

Well, minus the fact that it's literally based on a Japanese card game, but that could be hand-waved easily enough. Unless market research shows kids in the target audience actually would want all the funny symbols all over the place, I can't fathom why they'd pick Shinkenger over Goseiger.

Yeah, at the very least the new one can turn into ALL OF THEM.

Akared is there? I don't see him... (edit: OH! You mean the NEW one can do that. I didn't see that. Nevermind.)

Gaoranger vs Super Sentai was my favourite mega-crossover. Mostly 'cause it had motherfucking Big One (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udaEQHvWEqs).

This sounds a lot like the Kamen Rider Decade series, so nothing they haven't done before.

For the record: They put misleading things on those posters all the time.

If this is going to be the last series they ever make

You've honestly got a better chance of seeing Final Fantasy end. The REALLY FOR REALZ final Kamen Rider series turned out to just be a four year break. Four years. That's like being... Jean Grey dead.

Super Sentai will be around as long as boys keep buying new robot toys every year. It's pretty much the best merchandising scheme in history. Makes for some rad shows too.

That was honestly my first thought, too, which is why I have faith that it might work. The difference is Kamen Rider Decade is probably coming over here when Bells gets snow. With my concerns over Shinkenger now completely not assuaged, I fear what they'll do to this.

Also, there's already some pics of the new mecha combined with old units. Here's a blog with a bunch of toy info. Oh, I don't really watch the Power Rangers adaptations. They tend to just make me ill.

I didn't even realise that Kamen Rider Decade was being adapted. Are they trying Kamen Rider again? It seems like... a bad idea. Kamen Rider tends to be a lot more serious than Super Sentai.

Not Decade. After Kamen Rider Black was brought over for the Masked Rider series, the maker of Kamen Rider took a look at what they did with it and was so disgusted that he said he'd never let them touch it again from what I heard. It seems he's softened his stance on that. Kamen Rider Ryuki was brought over in 2009 as Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, but got canceled. I don't think there's anything else coming out with it right now.

I like Galaxies a lot when it was first airing. I was in 7th or maybe 8th grade and it really was awesome. The last few episodes had a but more maturity than I was expecting which is probably why I will always remember the show favorably.

Also Magna Defender was a horny (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IncrediblyLamePun)bastard.

Speaking of mega crossovers; anyone seen Superior Ultraman 8 Brothers (I THINK that was the title)? Original flavour Ultraman showing up, classic transformation and all, made me so happy.

i will just pose the fact that there is a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out, and it's by Disney. So, if there is any chance of this going to Disney too, there is a micro change of the most Absurd, Awesome and Stuuuuuuuuupid crossover ever in history.

Yep! :D Although it's a bit strange that the yellow ranger's Zord is the trailer part of a semi. :/

I posit that Disney is probably going to run PotC into the ground because they don't actually know what made it good and/or are just going to milk the cash cow until it's powder. Just like Bobby Kotick! Seriously, even most of the actors have resorted to flat-out refusing to do more. Plus I don't know if Captain Jack Sparrow is really suited to the whole "fireworks and explosions" thing that Power Rangers deals in every day, much less the "fighting giant monsters in giant robots."

Also, Disney's been producing these things for years. Although it seems that Nickelodeon has some part in it now from the Shinkenger port trailer. Guess it's off to Wikipedia to see what happened there.

Saban bought the series back from Disney a couple months ago, when they tried to cancel it after RPM, and now Power Rangers Samurai is gonna air on Nick next year.

Ah, thank you. That does boost my hope a bit. Saban did many things in his run, but recording bad new battle footage wasn't one of them.

No prob. And speaking of Samurai, it's seems there's a new trailer (http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/power-rangers-launch-trailer2.html) on the Nick site.

I grew up on the original show back in the early-mid 90's and loved it up to Ninja. >_> That's when it went downhill for me.

By the way, favorite Zord was the Dragonzord (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0-5ABEGcJM). That thing was just awesome until the Tigerzord appeared. ^_^***

The acting and writing is atrocious, but the battle footage seems intact. Roll call is gone, but while it's a shame, it's not really a surprise. They abused the hell out of that in Shinkenger. Also, it even seems like it might be taking place in Japan for whatever reason and the fact that they seem to be keeping all the writing stuff quite frankly amazes me. Okay, they changed the morphing props, but they look just as good. It may not turn out to be a watchable series, but it seems it won't be a bastardized one.
