I occasionally get the hankering for some good vocal or some good piano or some good jazz music. I'll be calmly sitting around, listening to my rock or pop or club or DAFT PUNK when all of a sudden my hands start to shake. They slowly rise to my computer, and I fight it, pulling against with all of my might. But then my neck stops working, and my head rolls to one side and my eyes start to twitch. Without the ability to see what my hands are doing, I'm powerless. Then Josh Groban begins to play. Or Michael Buble. Or I delve into my jazz collection, which by the way composes about 1/4 of my music.
So one day a friend of mine says, "Hey, why don't you try out Sara Bareilles? She's that girl that sings 'love song' and 'king of anything.'" So I did. I downloaded Kaleidoscope Heart. Holy shit, I am glad I did.
Sara fucking Bareilles, man. This is some good shit right here. I thought there would be maybe one good song out of thirteen, but there's a solid eleven right here. This is well above the music industry average, if you've been keeping track. I liked it so much I downloaded all of her other stuff and I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop, because Sara fucking Bareilles that's why. She can sing which is a surprisingly uncommon trait amongst musicians nowadays.
How about youse folks? Have you discovered the wonder of Sara Bareilles? Have other musicians whom I'd enjoy? Dare to criticize her?
